Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out for me to microchip your cat/kitten on behalf of Henry’s Haven.
We ask for a minimum donation of £10 per cat to cover costs, and can only chip from the age of 8+ weeks. The cat/ kitten needs to be in good health, and of a good size for its age (especially kittens).
We cannot chip directly before or after they have had a topical flea/ wormer treatment (as this is generally medicated on the back of the neck where we need to insert the needle for chipping). We can chip if the cat has recently been vaccinated.
If you are unsure, please ask any questions or raise concerns before we arrange an appointment.
If you think the cat might already be chipped, we can arrange to scan the cat in advance. If they are chipped, we can advise how to get the chip registered to you.
We will require you to help hold the cat/ kitten while we do the chipping. It takes a matter of seconds, but some cats wriggle, and we’ll need you to assist. It’s not a one person job! 🙂
Once chipped, we will provide you with proof of the chip number and explain how to register it directly to you. If you need to make any future amends (for example if you move house), it will be your responsibility to keep the details up to date directly with the chip company.
Please let me know roughly where you live (first part of the postcode), so that we can arrange if I come to you or you come to me for the chipping. We can work this out together based on other requests for chipping in certain areas.
I am fully insured and qualified
I hope that gives you a good overview of what needs to happen, but feel free to ask any questions you have.
Many thanks
Matthew
