Greetings, world!
My name is Luna, and I'm a vibrant, energetic girl of about ten months old, eagerly searching for my forever family. I’m likely a German Shepherd/Border Collie mix, with a stunning gray face, fluffy ears, and wavy blonde and brown fur. At 37 pounds now, I’m expected to grow into a perfect 50-pound companion.
I'm incredibly smart and quick to bond with my person. I love playing ball, learning new tricks, and engaging in athletic activities. I’d thrive in a home where I can channel my energy into agility training or jogging. I’m looking for a home with no small dogs, cats, or chickens (or other small friends), and I’d do best with adults or families with older children.
If you’re seeking a loyal, active, and loving friend, I’m your girl! Come meet me soon.
Best wishes, Luna

Meet Doug, a three-year-old Dutch Shepherd brimming with charm and energy, perfect for a family with older kids and a fenced yard.
Doug is incredibly affectionate, loves to snuggle, and has a playful side that shines through his love for toys and engaging games. With his well-trained obedience and gentle nature, Doug is eager to find a loving home where he can share his loyalty and joyful spirit.
Because of his exuberant and playful nature, he would do best with kids over 16 years of age. A family or owner who is experienced with Dutch or German Shepherd dogs is mandatory. Doug could be happy as an only dog, but would also love a companion dog to play with.
Doug is not part of GSRA, but he is with Blue Moon Shepherd Rescue - an amazing GSD rescue. If you’re in NC or SC and interested in Doug, reach out to Donna at [email protected]. In addition, visit GSDRescue.org (the GSRA website) to see other Shepherds listed from Blue Moon Shepherd Rescue as well.

Hello World! My name is Biscuit and I am one of the newest members of GSRA. I am a lovely girl, and my coat is the color of a perfectly cooked biscuit!!
I am approximately four years old, and not much is known about my past. I was picked up as a stray, and found myself in a small rural shelter rapidly running out of time. Although I was scared, I put on my big girl paws when people from the rescue came to meet me. I was well-behaved and I even rolled over for some belly rubs. I did fine with the dogs they tested me with and then they introduced me to these small furries called cats. They were terrifying, I want nothing to do with them!
I am a fun little girl. I like to have some attention, but I’m not pushy. I adore other dogs and I’m really hoping that I will have a furry companion in my forever home. I am very food motivated and learn routines quickly.
So what do you think? If you think I might be a match for you, please reach out and meet me.

Please Note: I am currently Heart worm positive and starting treatment now. I should be in toptop shape for my new family by mid-September. Hoping to meet you soon!
Did you know that August is National Make-a-Will Month? It may not be the cheeriest topic, but it's empowering to have a plan. That, plus there's peace of mind in knowing your wishes will be respected. Make-a-Will Month is also designed to promote planned giving, which allows you to direct gifts to organizations of your choice early on. GSRA would be honored to be a recipient of your planned gift.
Every year on average, GSRA takes care of 100 German Shepherds.Your legacy will help make sure every animal is able to receive the loving care, treatment, and training they need to find their new home. Including a charitable bequest in your will is a simple way to make a lasting gift to GSRA. You can leave a bequest to the Rescue by adding to an existing will or drafting a new one. https://www.gsdrescue.org/info/display.php?PageID=21488&popup=Yes
This is wonderful news. Mischievous Micki, whose rap sheet includes stealing home-delivered food off someone's porch, goosing a guy who was mowing his front lawn, harassing sleeping cats and impersonating other dogs has become (drumroll) a foster fail. To those of us behind the scenes, it was kind of obvious Micki's foster, Andrea, had a special place in her heart for the wayward princess. And after her (forced) retirement from a life on the lam, Micki has slowly slipped right back into her role as sweet, loyal, fun-loving companion to her family and the other dogs. Congratulations to Micki & family.
It’s with heavy hearts we share the sad news that Wiley, GSRA Class of 2012, has gone to the rainbow bridge. His family lovingly remembers him and says, “After 12 years of countless hikes, climbing mountains, running on the beach, frolicking in the snow, and swimming in the lake, Wiley embarked on his final adventure yesterday at the impressive age of, by best estimate, 15 or 16. Wiley (formerly Buddy) was my road trip partner on countless cross-country drives to visit family from Wyoming to South Carolina and everywhere in between. He was the unofficial mascot for over a decade of the high cross-country team I coached, joining the team for long runs even in his final years. Despite being initially warned that he had a high prey drive, Wiley lived with 3 cats and became the unofficial tester at my local rescue to see how dog savvy cats are. Just about everything I did in life, I did with Wiley. It's almost impossible to imagine what life looks like in a world without him by my side, but he did so much for me over the years I know that letting him pass with dignity before the pain became too great was the least I could do in return. I'll miss you, buddy. Twelve years was entirely too little.” 🐾🌈
🐾 We've got some exciting news to share: Chase's adoption is pending! ❤

She’ll need a family who is ready to commit to helping improve her manners and give her the love she deserves. Find out more about Ava: gsdrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=12793264.
