We need a new foster home for Rocket ASAP. Or better yet a forever home. His foster home can no longer come home at lunch to let him out. We now have a crate that he cannot break out of. This kennel will be made available to anyone who adopts for a few months until he realizes a kennel is a safe place. And will also be made available to his foster home.

He is neutered vaccinated and microchipped. He weighs about 76 lbs.

THE GOOD

🐾 great with people
🐾 great with other dogs
🐾 great with kids
🐾 calm and quiet when his people are around
🐾 walks well on leash

THE UNKNOWN

🐾 we do not know how he is with cats

NEEDS WORK ON

🐾 kennel training(has a secure crate that he cannot break out of)
🐾 separation anxiety

HIS PERSONAL NEEDS

🐾 Ideally a fenced yard but not necessary for an active family.
🐾 a family that can work on how crate training
🐾 a family that can devote time to him to him and his continuing training needs

My client is not every dog owner. My client is not every dog owner, with a challenging dog. My client is not looking for a quick fix or a last resort.

My client is proactive. My client is open to change. My client is willing to put in the work. My client does not give up. My client will find me.

Many owners are prioritizing teaching their dogs tricks and “obedience” but not life skills. I mention “obedience” in air quotes because folks are teaching their dogs physical positions (sit, down, shake a paw, etc.) without a functional application for those positions.

If your dog can shake a paw, but bulldozes people when they come over… or if your dog can roll over, but wants to attack other dogs… then what’s the point?

Prioritize understanding canine behaviour, communicating effectively with your dog, and teaching them basic life skills so you can enjoy your life together. I’m happy to help you get there :)
