What makes a truly great working dog? Genetics? The handlers influence and skill set? The decoys skill set? A great working dog is made with the requirements of all the above. The influence of each individual component is what makes up a dog one can be proud of. That’s why you have to be willing to learn, but not only learn you have to look at the lineage of the dog and also the decoys skill set being the most important. Don’t compromise when it comes to learning to be an amazing handler, picking out the right dog and even picking out the right decoy.

Did a good bit of obedience followed by some running with Rocco. Still taking it somewhat easy after the foot injury he had but every day he’s being pushed that bit more! He’s like a monster V8 in a small family hatch 🚗😂 tons of power and speed! No breaks on this one! I don’t know if they’re faulty or not 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

Time for Roccos morning run! Just finished off his obedience routine an hour ago. The speed at which he picks up something new is really amazing - more importantly the way he gives himself to learning and performing is even more so!

Im always making him run up this to condition him and build that muscle - really steep incline, & running your dog up a incline hill is one of the best ways to really make them work and engage their muscles with force!

First official day back to his training routine slowly increase the intensity to avoid any injury and to make sure we don’t slip back into a pit following the last little injury. Needless to say Rocco was over the moon with being able to let some of that energy out! Fingers crossed 🤞 another 1 1/2 week to 2 weeks and he will be back to doing man work as well!

After sustaining a leg injury causing him to be on bed rest for over 2 weeks he’s now back to his usual self! Time to get that training back in and build that condition up on him again!

getting in that daily exercise 💪 How do you guys like to exercise your dogs to keep them fit? On occasion I’ll get on the bike and trail through a woodland with mine, I like using spring poles, running him up inclines and now I’m also going to start getting him to oil abit if weights to further condition him and work on that muscular endurance whilst under load.

Zaylan (Left, German shepherd) & Diablo (Right, Bandog) 😎 🔥
As you know Zaylan is a operational security/protection dog. But did you know Diablo is also in his training and is showing great promise as a family protection dog+companion? He possesses a lovely stable temperament showing great drives that aren’t too over-whelming for a family to manage and control and how biddable and affectionate he is to his handler is truly amazing!

‘Rocco’ standing tall with a deep intent gaze, who can guess what he saw? - some say it feels like he stares directly into ones soul, others just say he’s a complete nutter that’s why he has such a glare, me on the other hand, I think it’s a bit of both! What do you think? 🤷🏻‍♂️
