Eyes are all open, and puppies are starting to walk! They are also wanting to chow down on mom’s food so we are moving them to a wet mash once a day!

Day 58 into Mia’s pregnancy with Poseidon puppies!! We are now on puppy watch!

Poseidon x Blue Heat pups should be here in T-17 days!!! We couldn’t be more excited for the babes to arrive!!!

Poseidon’s pictures don’t do him justice, he has beautiful conformation and movement. Making this a duel purpose litter!!!

At this time we are only sharing the cross, pups won’t be made available to the public until 8 weeks of age and keepers are determined.

Topic: Preservation Breeding for English Coonhounds

The standard is a written blueprint for our breed. People who choose to breed do it for one of two reasons: to improve what they have or change it to fit their wants/needs. I think we can all agree which is the genuine path to take. Though this is about the dog as a whole, each piece of the blueprint is important. For example an English Coonhound’s primary function is to hunt. For a hunting hound, lacking in structure breaks down the ability to succeed during a hunt and deteriorates the blueprints laid out by the breed club. All English Coonhounds are stunning and appear to fit the breed standards, until you take a closer look. Maybe the stop isn’t deep, maybe the dog has a horrible front, or a bad bite. Maybe it isn’t the structure, but the temperament or lack of drive to hunt game. All of these pieces make up the breed and as breeders, we must want to preserve the purpose, ability, and conformation of each puppy we decide to bring into the world. We must study and match not only pedigrees, but the dog at the end of that pedigree.
Upcoming breedings should result in the improvement of the dogs’ within a kennel, this should occur structurally, temperamental and, most importantly, natural instincts.

Raven looks more and more like her daddy every day! She also got a winter coat since she’s not growing one!!

This old lady has been seeing the doggie chiropractor after loosing mobility in her rear end.

At first we thought she pulled a muscle but after receiving a clean bill of health, we ran her again and almost needed to carry her out of the woods.

Turns out, when she hit a tree, she threw her back out of wack. 1 appointment and her mobility in her back end is back.

With the upcoming English Sectional we are making our cuts.

All 9 might be going just to go though.. we haven’t really decided if we’re leaving anyone behind!

Floki and Journey in Junior Males
Jack in senior males
Indy in senior females
Mia is a grand Champion

We will see who goes and who stays. Realistically, we can show them all without assistance… decisions decisions 😆

PKC and UKC papers have been sent in for Raven!

We also sent in paperwork for another hound to be registered with PKC and have their DNA swab on the way!!

We’ll find out in 2 weeks what Raven is capable of doing!
