It’s almost Christmas time and your new pups are almost 4 months old! 1/3 of the way through their first year!

We have settled into a routine that involves way less puppy cleaning but we do miss the pups daily.

We thank you for the many updates we receive through the weeks and think about you all, and are so grateful to continue to get to know you all!

Black pup - Kopitar
is adjusting well to his new family. He is a bit of a collector of things and loves to surround himself with items from his family - but just to be close.
He is doing great with training and is even starting to learn fetch. He is an LA hockey fan and loves to get Amazon deliveries.
He is thriving and is a big helper already to his very special humans.

Potty training with a bell!

This is what we have done with some of our pups and I highly recommend it.

The only downfall is that you might have a really clever dog who decides they want to hit it every time they want to go play outside vs when they need to potty - but it’s an excellent ”tell” for a new puppy to show you they need to go potty!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=me0mKBhz7D4

Several of our families are doing this and having great success. The pups also probably watched some of our adult dogs modeling this trick!

Our purple girl went home last night which means we our home is without puppies for the first time since August.

Although it is a loss less work without the wee little pups, we definitely all were missing those sweet puppy snuggles.

We will miss you Rosie, but we are so excited to have you close by!

11/11/2023

Warning - long post ahead!

We officially have no more puppies to home!

This was a crazy journey and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for most people - but it was worth it for us to do this once.

Mom/dad have their spay/neuter apointment for the end of the month.
This was a really special litter, for many reasons, but it’s easy to see how Shiloh has been the best momma.

The amount of work that occurred daily is really incredible. Twice daily deep cleaning.
Weights every 12 hours, then daily, then every 2 days then weekly the last two weeks. Hanging out with momma and getting her to eat and feed her babies. Moving the small puppies to the hind teat twice daily and watching a full feed to make sure they nursed well. Puppy nail trims and spot cleaning daily for 4 weeks. Weekly baths and nails trims 1-2 Times a week for the last 6 weeks - more as needed. Feeding and watering 3 times a day. Scrubbing and disinfecting toys. Scrubbing floors, steam mopping and disinfecting floors. Disinfecting and scrubbing food bowls. And you oh my goodness the p**p. Even though they were great at hitting the grass pad and then the pad with the tray - they got so playful around 6 weeks old that they would travel through the pad at times. So gross. Thank you hubs for taking on the poo duty at that time. Crate training, recall training, ENS training, noise sensitization and socialization - every day.
Play outside and supervision of play outside to protect out little nuggets from eating silly things. Paying people to come hang out at the days that we had longer periods of time that we couldn’t - to ensure they were safe, clean and loved.

Much of the rest of our lives have been on hold for the past 11 weeks.

The blessings: watching Shiloh calm and get her momma instincts out, watching 10 puppies be born healthy to a first time momma and keep all 10 puppies healthy the whole time! Watching puppies nurse and grow. Watching their eyes and ears open and discover this big world. Watching them learn how to use their legs and then falling over because they’re big old bellies get in the way of their new legs.
Watching my kids and hubs pick their favorites and snuggle them - all of us having different favorites.
Watching our kids take in the natural process that all mammals take - pregnancy, birth, nursing, weaning, independence, leaving home. Hours of extra family time each week - and teaching the kids how to care for tiny pups. Puppy snuggle therapy.
Meeting the best new families and getting to know some familiar faces even better. I honestly could not have picked better homes for our puppies if we tried.
Two of our pups are next door to each other near STL and just had a play date! Orange, light blue, dark pink, green, and yellow are all in the stl area. Light pink, purple, black, dark blue and red are all near Como.
The love we felt for our pups was even more than we anticipated. It beautiful and seeet and snuggly - and I cannot wait to see them grow into their families. I am absolutely humbled by the amazing families we have met and the love and trust they have shown us during this journey. I think we have grown to adore them just as much as the pups.

The hard: for every 1 pup we found a home for, we had about 50 inquiries. Of those, half were maybe actually interested in a pup. The other half were just there to attack us, say hateful things, or breed. Someone tried to shut down this page and the attached messenger - leaving me unable to communicate with families wanting a puppy. The half who were really interested were usually pleasant at first, but we wanted our pups to go to certain homes (knowledgeable about pups, indoors, vet, train have someone home these early months etc). People became rude or even cruel when I let them know it wasn’t a good fit. Occasionally someone thanked me for helping them realize they were not yet ready for a pup - to them I am so grateful.

Thank you to those of us who joined us and supported us during this adventure. 🙏🏼 We appreciate you and will forever be grateful.

In a few days I hope to put updated pictures in the comments below - so please come back. For a short while though - I’m going to take a sanity break from Facebook 🤪.

It was a little bit cold, but green collar boy chose his new family and they’re just as nice as can be.

He’s going to be their camping buddy and he might just have the best name ever for a pup - but I’m not sure if it’s officially his name yet! Mom and Dad will hopefully see this update and let us know!
There is a specially little girl and boy that he will have as built in besties.

In a few days, purple will join her new family - they’re getting ready for a new puppy over the weekend.

That means we are puppy free soon.

Only two pups remain!

Purple girl has a flatter coat that is thick and oh so soft, with wavy ears. She was one of the smaller pups since the beginning and has maintained her petite frame. She is such a sweetheart and is generally content with anything. More of a follower, she lays down for her baths and loves to snuggle and be held, and to follow me all around the house or yard.

Green collar boy has long wavy fur and the classic doodle look. He loves his snuggles, but also loves to initiate play. He’s not the leader of the group (usually a close second) but he has all the confidence of a leader. He is food driven and loves to use his nose - searching for food in puzzle toys is his favorite game.

With only two pups left we are working on crate training.

The pups are great at using the puppy outside much of the time and great at hitting the puppy pad overnight.
We continue to work on recall and good manners, because it is important to us that your pup has a great start.

Send us a message if you’re interested in a pup!

We are local to Columbia and request that our families come to our house to meet our pups and our whole family - including the pups mom and dad.

Our training.

Every family has commented on how great our pups are with being handled by kids and adults alike.

We have worked hard to sensitize them to our world and handling since day 1, with only one goal in mind - to be a great indoor family dog.

They have been exposed to our other dogs and our 4 kids handling with few limitations … just really good supervision.

In the links below I’ll post some of the things we have used to training and ensure our pups will tolerate being picked up, tugged, groomed, pushed and pulled (gently of course).

Black collar boy has chosen his family!!
He immediately picked his person - he ran right up to his new person and sat down….then proceeded to snuggle the whole family without a care in the world!

Usually he explores a little more but this match was definitely perfect!

He is going to an awesome home with a teen who is going to be his new best bud!

Cannot wait to see how he grows with his new family!

The hardest part is saying goodbye.

Tears we’re definitely shed tonight as red collar boy made his way home with his new family.

Anywhere I moved, he moved. He has been my shadow following me or watching me from afar since day 1.

He is going to be loved and snuggled by a super sweet family, which makes it all okay.

We will miss ya buddy!

Our sweet pups are learning so much from our big dogs.

Many people let pups go home before 8 weeks, but really it’s a super important age to learn social skills and dog language from their momma.

Their personalities really start to shine through and they start learning so much.

Ours have the added benefit of learning from our other big dogs too.

Aunt Gracie thinks she’s the boss lady and checks in on all the pups, and keeps them in line. You’ll see aunt Gracie, our Dobie mix, in todays pictures.

Here are a few seeet pictures from today. They are on the go constantly and so much fun to play with!

Tonight we have 5 quiet puppies sleeping in a crate connected to their play area - all by their own choice!!

I would have taken a picture, but it has been a loud few days as we have been crate training and we don’t want mad pups or freshly awakened kiddos!

We are working really hard to make sure your pups are on a great path when they go home with you.

Our other families tell us their pups are doing really well with potty training and crate training - and we couldn’t be more proud!

Send us a message to coke meet your new pup this weekend!

Weekends are for: deep cleaning!

3 hours of cleaning and disinfecting later, it’s time for treat toys, puzzle toys and more kennel practice!

Rainy days are harder because the pups get less time to run freely in the yard - so we do extra snuggles and extra puzzle games!

Keeping puppies brains engaged and stimulated is just as important as snuggling and exercising!

Spa day questions - answered!

What do we use for their nails?
For our adult dogs we use a high quality grinder because it nicely rounds the edges of their nails.
For our pups we use a fingernail clipper. Soon, they will graduate to a toenail clipper. They have the tiniest toes nails at this point, just the tiny tip needs clipped.
When they were brand new we used a soft nail file and just kept the ends rounded.

What do we use for shampoo?
My two favorites are 4-legged and Buddy Wash. Both companies are USA based and use only a handful of ingredients which are gentle and natural.
No crazy fragrances or chemicals, just some natural scents like lavender to leave our pups smelling fresh but not artificial.
Buddy Wash is owned by parent company Whitebridge pets which is also located in Chesterfield, Missouri!

This is easily the best popcorn I’ve ever had, and I’m not even a little bit sorry for polishing it off in a single night when the kids and pups finally went to sleep!!!

If you find yourself near Edwardsville, IL make sure you stop in and grab a bag…or more.

The Ooey Gooey tastes like a combination of a perfect cake and a perfectly roasted marshmallow.
