Learned something new this summer. Let me tell you a bit about Purslane. It usually grows wild and appears as a creeping w**d. But, I plant ID'd it and found out not only is it edible but is said to be delicious and highly nutritious being an actual vegetable that is loaded with the good Omegas. So, I let mine grow and spread this year in my lettuce bed. I finally got brave enough and ate a sprig. It did not disappoint. It really does taste very juicy and lemony, especially the slender and tender stems with a crunchy bite in the plump little leaves. I'll be putting it in my salads, sandwiches, etc. The little tiny black seeds in the flower head are numerous and it's no wonder it self propagates so rapidly. I'll be letting them grow every year. It makes a wonderful ground cover also. I am going to try to collect the seeds and spread them around where I'd like a tasty ground cover to grow.

After a week and a half of not doing much due to heat or migraines (ugh!), I got out today and w**ded the entire back yard rock garden! Because the Butternut squash, Cucumber and Pumpkin vines have filled in most of the empty spaces, there wasn't as much as usual but there was plenty enough to keep me out there for about 2.5 hours, which is definitely my limit! Whew!! I was too exhausted and spent to take a photo today.

Tomorrow, I'll go back and begin to see if some of my head bent sunflowers are ready to be harvested. Also, will check to see if I have some potatoes, green beans, and I saw a few ripe sugar snap peas and cherry tomatoes. too. And get some photos.

I have been on vacation since Wednesday, and arrived home in the afternoon. I then fell asleep for an hour and a half after driving four hours; so, today all I did was survey and water. See below photos.

Thanks to excellent weather today, my daughter and I got our two garden shelves unloaded, cleaned out and put all into our new garden shed. Also we got all our garden tools, her bicycle and other items into it. We moved our woodpile over and cleaned off our side porch. Then, she got the doggy pool cleaned up and I gave everything a good watering since we still have had no rain since almost two weeks ago amidst all this heat. Lastly, beans were picked and a trap set for a groundhog that has made an appearance and eaten the last bits of my two remaining romaine and kale heads, ugh!

The tomatoes have begun to form!!!

Also picked 6 quarts bush and French beans today, plus 2 more each I face to my neighbor.

It was time to dead head all my roses, so I w**ded below them as well, no photo.

My white hydrangeas are in full bloom and the blue have a bit more to go but I made bouquets with both anyway as the blue will open in time in the vase as well as on the bush.

So much for my gardening plans today.

Started last night but I slept very well but still it came back as soon as I was awake. Tried Tylenol, then one abortive, on the second one. My headache is finally subsiding... But I'm now tired from it all.

But here are adorable my migraine companions 😻😻🐈🐈‍⬛. Check out my other page:

After two days resting due to extreme soreness from helping my daughter and our neighbor put together our new shed, I'm back outside doing a bit of gardening. I also noticed that my sciatica has stopped shooting down my left leg!!!! I can do just sore, but not that sciatica pain, soo glad it seems gone, hallelujah!!!

I dead-headed all the spent Peonies and brought inside the last of them. Cut some of my gorgeous white roses and arranged them. Deadheaded and slightly pruned my other rosebushes. Pruned my tomatoes and set the new growth into the supports. Cut more Bibb lettuce. Cut the first of my divinely beautiful red Asiatic lilies and arranged it. Also, our shed is done and simply awaits the doors to be put on.

A bit rainy in our neck of the woods this Memorial Day 2024. Here's looking out my addition's small front porch door to view my flowering rose garden.

It's a grey day here today. But, it has a beauty all its own.

Coral, yellow, white, red and pink

Got to get the w**ds, soon, my L hip and sciatica are improving, but still needs extra rest to stay off of it while doing cold/hot therapy, TENS, chiro and starting PT this week.
