Talk about a scary morning. Lincoln decided to challenge the new yard fence in order to chase a cat! He went for a neighborhood stroll. Came back to the back gate and wanted in!! Relief. He was happy as a lark! Needless to say all the fences are going to be reinforced.

Just chillin in the yard this fine Sunday morning, waiting for a squirrel or a bird to chase!

Not a very good picture but he was giving me lovin’s! We had lots of company for Easter. He LOVES kids! He steals their toys and plays keep away! Not thrilled with big people. Had to leash him to introduce them and then he was okay if he wanted to approach them.

First truck ride is on the books!! Had to lift him in, he wouldn’t jump, then a little whimpering until all the way in. Then seemed to like it. I opened the windows a big crack and he nosed it but then settled in and laid down. I bet next time he will jump right in!

So this is happening! It is for breed, health and age estimate. So excited to see it all!

Leash still on but not held any more. I have to put his leash on or he won’t come out the door. I only have to say “let’s go” and back to the door he goes, but At a faster than I am run! So I started letting go. I’m fairly certain as long as he is not totally freaked out by something he is not going to try an escape. I leave the house door open at all times while outside, a train came by and he hightailed it inside. If that door had been shut I’m afraid of what his panic would have caused him to do. still amazed that he is such a fraidy cat. I assumed he was a strong confident independent dog with his travel history. He is not.

If anyone one has pictures or encounter stories with Lincoln please post them. Maybe we can get a timeline of his travels. I’m still hoping we can find who he is searching for!

Hoping next week to book him an appointment with the vet, I’m going to see if he likes truck rides this weekend. I’m in no hurry to get him there if it’s going to stress him out. He has made such progress in a weeks time and I don’t want to go backwards. He seems very healthy. No limping or sore body parts. Scanned for chip with a home scanner and no chip.

Lincoln with his new brother! He is adjusting well and so smart and loving! He still has a leash when outside because he is always looking west with his nose in the air! He was very scared at first, no trust. Now he sleeps with his new dad in bed and comes looking for attention. He knows his name is Lincoln and answers to it. He knows many commands that he obeys- come, heal, let go,and give me a kiss. He happily complies. I bout fell over when he gave me his first kiss and he now gives kisses without being asked. But the sit command scares him and he will leave the situation and hide. So we don’t use that word for him. But his brother has to sit (not jump) for cookies and Lincoln did it on his own once. I believe he will see that it’s an ok word here.
So, I’m very happy with his progress. I know he’s a searcher and may always be looking to the west. My hope is that he accepts us as his pack and is content enough to live happily with us.

I currently have Lincoln staying in my home. I happened upon him 3 times on February 28 at 3 different locations a total of about 15 miles from the start to the finish. First,he was trying to cross Route 97 at Oakford. He waited for traffic then crossed into a field. Second time, I work in the country between oakford and Chandlerville, I saw him trotting west across a corn field. That was about two hours later. Third time, about 5 o’clock that afternoon, just outside of Chandlerville, trotting west near the blacktop. I tried to entice him with food but he turned and ran into the bottom toward the river. I made a post on the talk of chandlerville page. That is where I found out his history and his name was Lincoln. Also, saw the post that Cass County Animal control had caught him. I called them and here were are.
