Meet Casey: My name is Casey, and I’m an adorable 6 month old baby boy. I’m stuck here in the La Junta shelter, but I’m making the most of my time here loving on the shelter people and playing with the dogs. Now that I’m getting a little older, I know how to bark, and I like to announce to everyone when I arrive in a room. What can I say, I’m the star of the show! I’m so excited to love someone as much as I hope they love me. Can you please help me out of here?

The La Junta & Rocky Ford shelters are holding facilities for police stations and DO NOT operate like city shelters. They do NOT allow adoptions due to city laws. Only approved PACFA 501c3 rescues can pull dogs from these shelters. Our organization is set up to network the dogs in these shelters to ALREADY approved rescue groups and then coordinate the transportation. We are just volunteers who network the dogs in these 2 shelters to help get them more exposure. These shelters usually give each dog a Duramane 5 Max vaccine but that is all the vetting they receive. There are no vets on staff. We also coordinate transports each week (usually Saturday or Sunday) to the Denver area which is a 5-6 hour round trip drive – we just do the best we can but we are so grateful to have all of you guys to help save these pups! We provide all physical needs to fosters, including food, toys, collars and leashes, beds, crates or pens, and veterinary care, including emergency needs and surgeries.

Marlo is an 8 month old Belgian Malinois Mix sitting in a local shelter.
This handsome boy is in need of a foster. He is very active boy looking for a home who will keep this sweet boy busy. He loves to play fetch. He really needs a foster with Malinois experience as the breed itself is high energy.

We would suggest a home with children 10 and over if possible.
Unknown with cats and other dogs at this time.

Storm is a heartwarming beauty, too kind to be waiting in boarding for her forever haven. As we walk her, volunteers and I are impressed by her peaceful nature and absence of reactivity to other dogs, horses, and goats. We're looking for a dog-only home where she can flourish, and her new owner can relish walks with her. Despite a past leg injury with a rod, she's adapted with a slight limp, and her sweet disposition endures.

Storm would love a foster or adopter with no other dogs or VERY savvy with rotation and slow introductions.

💔Quanah and Neera are truly breaking our hearts💔

🐶These 2 sweet dogs were surrendered right to boarding as they had no foster step up and had no where else to go😭

💔They had a little boy who adored them and as they had both adored him as well.

We have their bios and posted these 2 mulitple times and yet there is still no interest in fostering this bonded pair.

Our Foster Coordinator met Quanah and Neera today in boarding and both lit up with excitement to get some loving. Neera even had a spa day today for a much needed bath due to her itchy skin💜 She loved her bath and getting groomed. She was so well behaved for it all🥰

🙏We are begging and pleading for someone with husky experience to please consider fostering this bonded pair🙏.

They are not good with chickens and unknown with cats. We would ask to keep them separated from other types of critters. We dont really know how they would do with other dogs so we would ask to separate, rotate for now and then work on slow integration.

We have everything a foster absolutely needs including gates to separate.

🆘We are in need of more funds for medical🆘

We do not have invoices yet and or surgeries happening soon. Our vet messaged us on the costs of surgeries for Felix, Emma Kate, and Plum.

Felix Did have surgery last Friday for his rear leg. He did not require an amputation. This was $500 and it included:

After watching for improvement for awhile he is not going to get better on his left thigh bone. Highly discounted the cost would be $500 for operative repair with either pins and wires or plates and screws.

Plum had an emergency dental removing a broken and infected K9, waiting on cost and not only has this poor sweetheart had so much happen to her in her short lifetime, she was also diagnosed Heartworm Positive and will be going through treatment💔

EmmaKate:
Her first knee is done and better but will never be fully normal as informed from the beginning. She has had lots of trouble including a surgical infection in the knee, a failure of her spay incision and off and on serious diarrhea episodes. We have worked hard on her and fixing up the other knee to the best or our ability is currently planned for next Friday the 26th.

Her bill currently sits at 1400 and the final knee repair would be another 600 She has been spay but goes in this Friday for next knee to be repair.

On top of this we also still have 5 dogs in boarding💔
We are a 501c not for profit volunteer rescue and a funds are constantly being depleted. Please help us help our foster furbabies💜

💜How can anyone resist the SPLOOT🥰

🆘Luna is looking for her forever home or a new foster as her foster will be having surgery soon. We cannot afford to have another dog in boarding💔

Meet Luna, a vibrant 2-year-old with a white and tan short-haired coat. Luna is a spirited playmate, delighting in tearing into toys for squeakers and happily chewing on bones and antlers.

She's an enthusiastic walker, but be prepared for a bit of a workout as Luna is a strong puller. Beyond her playful energy, Luna is a cuddle queen, enjoying lap time and snuggling in bed at night.

She's a quick learner, responsive to commands like sit, stay, get down, and come. I've recent t started to train her to do tricks like turn in a circle while on her hind legs. She picked this up fairly quickly (she can do a half circle but will do that without any prompt after I say beg).

Luna prefers a home with a fenced in yard so she can have lots of playtime.
Luna is a crate mystery solver, showcasing her cleverness. With a perfect blend of high energy and calmness, Luna enjoys mental stimulation and will chase toys with gusto.

She's a vigilant protector, barking at activity outside, but rest assured, her territorial instincts don't diminish her friendly nature. Luna has a dominant personality but can be compatible with other furry friends, especially after gradual introductions. She tends to prefer to hang around with bigger dogs, she likes non-dominant playmates (especially if they are female)

Luna has most recently been interacting with toddlers (2&1) and has done very well. Even when one toddler was throwing things at her, she went and hid. And when the youngest pushes her away, she doesn't react.

She would still do best with older children who can understand when not to approach her during her reactive moments.
