Many of you know Happy Dog Ranch in Colorado where I have helped since it's inception. This treasured place is near and dear to my heart and I return there every year to provide events with the fabulous healing horses and many other animals. They recently moved to a wonderful new place that is requiring many costs and now they have two very dear horses with medical emergencies. If you can, please send them a bit of support. A little donation x many people can go a very long way! Thank you! 💞
Sadly, two of our herd members had emergency issues this week that have landed them at the vet clinic. Both of them will recover, thankfully.
Susie Q has endured an ongoing eye injury, and it required removal of her eye yesterday. Last April, she developed a corneal ulcer that improved for many months with extensive, ongoing treatment. This week, it suddenly ruptured, leaving her vet team with no other choice. She’s been suffering with this injury, and we’re grateful that now she’ll heal and be comfortable. With good follow-up care and the stability of her herd, we’re confident that she’ll adjust well to her vision change.
Mick, the leader of our main herd, has a genetic dental issue that resulted in molar fractures and infection, despite the fact that he receives regular dental care. He’s having dental surgery tomorrow to have several teeth extracted, but he should be back to eating well and feeling better soon.
These emergencies will total more than $4600 in vet bills, and they come at a time when we’ve just funded significant repairs at the new ranch. The HDR community has a strong history of stepping up to help when it’s needed. If you’d like to support Susie or Mick by covering a portion of their surgical costs, we’d greatly appreciate donations of any amount.

Thank you to Dr. Lemus, Dr. Platt, Dr. Senn and the team at Littleton Large Animal Clinic for their excellent care of Susie and Mick.
