Want your business to be the top-listed Pet Store/pet Service?
My name is Joel Tippens and my involvement in urban agriculture over the years has included growing food in backyards, vacant lots, in schoolyards, on church lawns, and parking lots; in raised beds, buckets and tires, and even in the bed of an old pick-up truck! I have developed a passion for empowering folks in low-income neighborhoods of Chattanooga to discover greater self-reliance by growing their own fresh, nutritious food.
City Farms Grower Coalition, will provide hands-on learning opportunities that empower new urban growers to not only stretch their food budget growing for their kitchen table, but also offering fresh, nutritious food for a new market beginning this spring! We plan to empower 20 new urban growers in 2020!
Our hands-on training workshops will pop up throughout the growing season in a variety of locations around the city, beginning with seeding trays in the greenhouse to planting out a network of micro-farms at schools, churches, community gardens, backyard gardens and vacant spaces; turning dirt into soil with compost, harvesting rainwater for irrigation, and selling culturally appropriate fresh food to the community. The training is informal but invaluable, with a curriculum informed by seasoned, experienced, local organic farmers.
The dark winter solstice is passed and the season is now moving toward more light and warmth as spring approaches. Just as the sun warms the soil, your support warms our heart! Your generous support right now will enable us to empower urban growers with knowledge and skills to confidently sow seeds of food justice in their community beginning this spring!
