What is wrong with people??? No animal should lay injured by the road for hours!!! STOP and help if you see an animal in need!!!

When a German shepherd named Marley was (presumably) hit by a car in Muscoy, California, her fellow stray, Murphy, refused to leave his best friend’s side. The pair patiently waited for hours as traffic whizzed by, without a single car stopping to help.

After several hours, a driver finally stopped to check on the injured animals, and promptly called Dream Fetchers: Project Rescue.

“We received a message she was lying on the side of the road,” Faith Easdale, one of the rescuers affiliated with the non-profit organization, told The Dodo. “Marley was in terrible distress and pain and breathing heavily. We weren’t even sure if she was going to make it.”

Murphy continued to keep watch as Easdale and another rescuer lifted the wounded dog into the car. Once the larger dog was safely inside, little Murphy curled up beside Marley on the back seat, even resting his head on her belly.

“She was very heavy and hard to move, but we did it,” Easdale recalled. “Murphy wouldn’t leave her side on the street.”

Murphy continued to comfort Marley as rescuers raced to the hospital, X-rays confirmed that the German Shepard had indeed broken multiple bones. But tests also revealed a second, more surprising discovery. Marley was pregnant, she was going to have 11 puppies.

Murphy waited by Marley’s side for the first few days, only relaxing when he seemed to realize the pregnant dog was finally safe. “He was able to be with her in the hospital but she was so critical that he wanted to go run and play,” said Easdale, who would go on to help both Murphy find his forever home.

Marley’s delivery, meanwhile, wasn’t painless, but the injured mom still managed to birth 11 healthy puppies, which she attentively cuddled and nursed despite having casts on two legs.

Two years – and many veterinary visits later -- Marley has fully recovered from her injuries, meanwhile her puppies are fully grown and in their own homes. “Marley is just as sweet and beautiful as the day we brought her home,” her new family wrote on Facebook. “She plays like she has never had a broken bone.”

AGATHA (A418036) video in comments
Hello Agatha. She’s an 8 year old Treeing Walker Hound who weighs 39 pounds and is heartworm negative. She is spayed and ready to go home with you. She was found on Parkton Rd with her fur friend Harmony (A418037). Sadly no one came looking for her.
Agatha is just as sweet and calm as she can be. She sits right at the front of her kennel ready to greet visitors. Agatha is easy to leash. She walks super calm and gentle.
Agatha was ready to stretch her legs. She explored all around the playyard. She was out with another dog. She appears to do well with others but meet and greets are always encouraged.
Agatha takes treats very gently. She welcomes all the love and gentle rubs on her back. Agatha is so calm and chill. She wants a yard to explore and a family to cherish her. Our slightly older girl deserves to have a comfy space. Agatha is ready to say “goodbye shelter and hello forever home”.
Is there a place in your family for Agatha? Agatha is waiting patiently to meet you. Come visit her at Cumberland County Animal Services. No appointment needed. Agatha is ready for a new beginning and a bright future where she can make “golden memories” with you. 910 321-6852.

TULIP
Age: She's a baby - just three months old
Weight: Small now - but growing by the minute!
Good with: Children of all ages, dogs & cats
Needs: All the things that all puppies need, plus another dog in the home - that's a must
House trained? Doing great - a fast learner
Crate trained? Yes

Loves: To play and explore, with the company of another dog
Working on: Growing up to be the best big girl she can be
Dream home: She'll fit in anywhere. She's just a little girl.

TULIP comes with extra sprinkles on her nose - or could it be stardust? Yes. That's it. She was kissed by a star. And you'll want to kiss her nose, too. Tulip is a little puppy looking to make her way in a big world. She needs some extra company along the way - another dog, to help her feel safe and secure, and to show her how great life can be. She's already off to a great start now that she's with Lab Rescue. She's happy and playful, and a great napper. She comes with some requirements, but once you fall in love you won't even notice a few extra things on your "to do" list. They're really easy, like making sure Tulip:
Has a potty/social interaction break every 3 or 4 hours until 6 months old to ensure successful house training.
Gets plenty of daily play time and walks.
Has regular interaction with kids, adults, and other dogs to ensure positive socialization.
Come meet Tulip, kiss her on the nose, and take her home. Your dog will be happy, too.

Our service area covers VA, MD, DC, PA, WV, DE and NC, with most dogs fostered in MD or VA (we do not provide a specific location, as a dog may move while in our care). To learn more about a dog and how to adopt, the first step is to complete an application at lab-rescue.org/adoption-process. An adoption coordinator will be assigned to answer your questions and guide you through the process.

Name: Tortellini
Gender: female
Age: 4 months
Breed: miniature dachshund
Weight: ~10lbs when adult
Disability: deaf and vision impaired
Dogs: yes
Cats: yes
Kids: older children who can respect dogs boundaries
Location: Mooresville, IN

Bio: Tortellini came to us after her owner bred her two dachshunds not knowing that the dad was a hidden merle. Some dogs will carry the merle gene but the pattern will not show on their fur. That's why when breeding full health testing and color testing is so important. Tortellini was the only impaired pup in the litter and the owner decided surrendering her to us would give her the best chance at finding an equipped home to take the best care of her.

Socialization/training: Tortellini didn't have a lot of socialization early on in life as she wasnt vaccinated but we have been trying to make up for it here. She has been around a lot of dogs of different sizes, ages, and temperaments and has also been around cats and children. She can have a little bit of stranger danger while in public but we have just been having people move slowly since she can't see and as soon as she knows she's safe she warms right up to anyone! One thing we've noticed is if it's dark and she can't see you and you go to grab her out of her crate she may growl and nip in defense so it is very important to move slowly with her and let her know you aren't trying to hurt her while she's getting used to you.

Crate trained: Tortellini is still working on her crate training. She tends to bark in her crate for a little bit but is settling down quicker each day. She will bark if she can see you outside of the crate and try to get you to come get her out. She also still has p*e accidents in the crate (no p**p) but she's pretty good about using a puppy pad so we just put a puppy pad down on one side of the crate and a blanket on the other.

Leash trained: Tortellini definitely still needs some work on confidence on the leash but with positive association training with the leash I'm sure she will pick it up quickly.

Activity Level: Tortellini definitely still has puppy energy. She bites and chases and can be very hyper but she also is totally happy to curl up in the couch and steal your body heat.

Fence: A fence is not necessary for Tortellini but she must be on a leash or in an enclosed area at all times because due to her impairments she could get attacked by a predator, get lost, or hit by a car very easily. She would do fine with a short leash walk every day and some playing with toys in the home.

Behavior: Tortellini is still very much a puppy. She can be very bitey which we are working to correct. This is not aggression but just her still learning to play appropriately. Because of this if you have small children you need to understand that she will probably go after their ankles for a while lol. She can be a little nervous in new environments and around new people but she overcomes this nervousness very quickly so we feel that with a owner that helps build up her confidence she will thrive. Please be aware of normal dachshund behaviors. They tend to bark, dig, they can have a little bit of an attitude so even though they are small training and boundaries are super important with this breed.

Adoption fee: $300

***WHILE WE DO ADOPT OUT OF STATE THE ADOPTER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKING UP. WE MAY BE ABLE TO PROVIDE SOME HELP BY GROUND OR AIR***

FOSTERING saves lives!!!!!

FOSTERING saves lives!!!!!

"My foster dog stinks to high heaven. I don’t know for sure what breed he is. His eyes are blank and hard. He won’t let me pet him and growls when I reach for him. He has ragged scars and crusty sores on his skin. His nails are long and his teeth which he showed me are stained.

I sigh.

I drove two hours for this. I carefully maneuver him so that I can stuff him in the crate. Then I heft the crate and put it in the car. I am going home with my new foster dog.

At home I leave him in the crate till all the other dogs are in the yard. I get him out of the crate and ask him if he wants ‘outside.’ As I lead him to the door he hikes his leg on the wall and shows me his stained teeth again.

When we come in he goes to the crate because that’s the only safe place he sees. I offer him food but he won’t eat it if I look at him, so I turn my back. When I come back the food is gone. I ask again about ‘outside.’ When we come back I pat him before I let him in the crate, he jerks away and runs into the crate to show me his teeth.

The next day I decide I can’t stand the stink any longer. I lead him into the bath with cheese in my hand. His fear of me is not quite overcome by his wish for the cheese. And well he should fear me, for I will give him a bath.

After an attempt or two to bail out he is defeated and stands there. I have bathed four legged bath squirters for more dog years than he has been alive. His only defense was a show of his stained teeth that did not hold up to a face full of water.

As I wash him it is almost as if I wash not only the stink and dirt away but also some of his hardness. His eyes look full of sadness now. And he looks completely pitiful as only a soap covered dog can. I tell him that he will feel better when he is cleaned. After the soap the towels are not too bad so he lets me rub him dry. I take him outside. He runs for joy. The joy of not being in the tub and the joy of being clean. I, the bath giver, am allowed to share the joy. He comes to me and lets me pet him.

His skin is healing. He likes for me to pet him. I think I know what color he will be when his hair grows in. I have found out he is terrified of other dogs. So I carefully introduce him to my mildest four legged brat. It doesn’t go well.

Two weeks later a new vet bill for an infection that was missed on the first visit. He plays with the other dogs.

Three weeks later he asks to be petted. He chewed up part of the rug.

Eight weeks later his coat shines, he has gained weight. He shows his clean teeth when his tongue lolls out after he plays chase in the yard with the gang. His eyes are soft and filled with life. He loves hugs and likes to show off his tricks, if you have the cheese.

Someone adopted him today... When they saw him the first time they said he was the most beautiful dog they had ever seen.

Six months later I got a call from his new family. He is wonderful, smart, well behaved and very loving. How could someone not want him? I told them I didn’t know. He is beautiful. They all are".

Fosters change the world, so please consider opening your home to a dog in need 🙏🐾

🚨 Keep Searching for the Missing Dogs – Don’t Be Distracted 🚨

Our mission is simple: Find Marshmallow and protect innocent animals from abuse. We cannot lose focus.

Sarah Smolak, the person responsible for Marshmallow’s disappearance, is now reporting harassment claims to Wi******er PD in an attempt to distract from the real issue—her pattern of animal abuse, neglect, and theft. We must ensure law enforcement stays focused on what truly matters: finding the missing dogs and holding her accountable.

📢 Here’s what you can do to help:

🔹 Keep looking for Marshmallow and the other missing dogs. Share their photos. Spread awareness.
🔹 Stay away from Sarah. Do not engage with her directly—let the evidence speak for itself.
🔹 Report only revenant information and sightings. Let’s give them real leads to follow!
🔹 Continue sharing this story. The more people know, the harder it is for her to hide.
🔹Donate to help us in our efforts.

We are here for justice, and are so thankful that the rescue world and animal lovers everywhere are rallying. Let’s keep our focus where it belongs—on finding Marshmallow and exposing the truth.

Please share this post far and wide. The more eyes on this, the better chance we have of bringing these dogs home. They need us now more than ever.

Hear our plea...please

We do not want to be the next rescue organization to close our doors. We are in this for the right reasons. We are strictly non-profit and neither of us receives any salary for doing this work.

We are doing our best to keep going while also doing our best to take care of ourselves so that we CAN keep going. This seems to be more challenging than ever. We understand compassion fatigue—and we believe that even you probably experience this as well simply by seeing the overwhelming postings on social media about all the animals needing help. We know it's a lot and we know that we are experiencing a crisis here in Washington like never before. Shelters too full to take more animals (even strays), a shortage of foster homes, fewer donations, rising costs, slower adoptions...all of this while the need for help has increased.

Let's start with our page. We know that much is controlled by the algorithm of Facebook...BUT—we also have over 12,000 followers. Sometimes, we are lucky to get 20 - 30 people acknowledge a post or even get a few shares.

We have a handful of wonderful dogs in foster homes who have been waiting two to three years for adoption. When we have shared stories of other desperate dogs or cats needing help, they may get a lot of attention....but no foster home.

Recently, we stepped up for a few dogs that were very down on their luck and with very specific needs that no one else would take. We hesitated because it's getting so difficult to find fosters, adopters, and funding. We founded our organization with the mission of taking the dogs (or cats) that no one else wanted or would take, as that had always been a personal passion of ours even before we were an official non-profit.

Once again, we are asking for your help. The mama dog in Eastern WA who was left behind after her puppies were "rescued" gained a lot of attention and we STILL need a foster home for her over here in Western WA. We received only a couple of applications with her despite all the interest—and after speaking with them, it was determined that it would not work for them.

We have Roxy, a dog we just posted yesterday who was living on the streets for two months. She has been through hell and needs some TLC. We've not received a single application.

If you are on the fence about fostering, please consider changing the life of an animal who has been let down by humans and change their story! Help us to continue helping them! We have had some really good rescues here in WA who have closed in the past year because it's become so challenging and more stressful than ever. We are basically on call 24 hours a day—we are responsible for these animals in foster homes. Our work here is weaved into our personal lives 24 x 7. We will keep going as long as we can, but we cannot do this on our own.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for the support we have received from so many of you! Thank you to our amazing foster homes and adopters.

Enjoy this beautiful photo of Ginny, the mama dog who was left on the streets in Eastern WA. (her original photo is in the comments). She has been staying in a very temporary spot over there and must come over to us tomorrow. (Sunday, March 2)
