Ollie's Animal Behavior Services 🙋🏻‍♀️ Helping you & your 🐶🐈🕊️ start living your best life together…today! 🌄 Want to find out how I may be of benefit to you?

Hi, I’m Olivia "Ollie" Marie Sison! 🥰 Here's a bit about me and how I got involved in animal behavior & training. It all started with our family’s senior dog Bella, shy/fearful/anxious from puppyhood. It took almost 3 years of trial and error to help Bella learn how to navigate the world with confidence. Through this experience, I was determined to understand the science behind animal behavior 1)

to make my behavior training more efficient and 2) to lead with compassion not often shown to dogs like Bella in the animal welfare and training world. I joined the amazing Behavior Team at my local animal shelter, Friends for Life, and over several years, I worked with various behavior needs: fear/anxiety, aggression, reactivity, stranger danger, hyper-arousal, isolation distress/separation anxiety, and more. After my shelter/rescue background, I'd say the most impactful part of my continuing education is working with animals everywhere I travel (the Philippines, all over the Americas, and most recently living in Ecuador). Understanding the different roles animals play in families, cultures, and societies worldwide uniquely enables me to meet people where they are and to curate individualized, practical, & functional training plans that set everyone up for success!

Introducing Paddy and Bumi, my homestay doggos for the week! With two siblings and two VERY different personalities, the inter-household aggression was not surprising. Paddy and Bumi have a HIGHLY managed life.

Stay tuned to see 👀 how we work to stay safe through creativity, with an ever-changing environment, encouraging each dog to be their best self. 💖💖

I used to love playing that “Spot the Difference” game in the newspaper as a child. Do y’all remember those!? 🧩 Let’s try: can you 🧐 the differences in these photos?

Hint: In our initial consult this morning, I wanted to see this “pulls a lot on leash” Murdock in action. After I modeled and shared a few behavior insights, Murdock’s family was able to start implementing a few key skills for more communicative, stress-free, and enjoyable walkies right away! 🐕‍🦺✨

Murdock’s got a lot of cool things in progress: leash reactivity, meeting enrichment & socialization needs, selective aggression towards other dogs, resource guarding management, etc. Luckily, Murdock and his family are eager to better understand Murdock’s needs and take the time to work with this super intelligent, affectionate GSD. 🥰 Stay tuned as we uncover more “Murdock Mysteries”!🕵🏻‍♀️✨🎃👻🍁

Putting this thought-provoking nugget here for some Sunday reflection. 🐾

Over the past two years as the IAABC Foundation Events Director, I’ve been so lucky to work with over 80 educators at the top of their field in animal behavior and veterinary science, organizing and hosting conferences for our international community. ✨

My gratitude and humility only grows the more I learn from the professionals who’ve been involved in this important work for years, sometimes decades. 📚

I feel like I’m seeing my 3rd Aggression in Dogs Conference in a whole new light, now knowing how much goes on behind the scenes to put a conference like this together. Thank you and everyone who made this awesome weekend possible. 🙏🏼

✨Coexisting to cuddle buddies!✨ Introducing one of my long term clients, “Rico Riquísimo!” 🐶 At 10 months old in the Fall of 2020, Rico was rescued from a terrible breeding situation. Severely malnourished and with a busted face and nose from trying to escape the crate he lived in, by a stroke of luck, Rico ended up in the loving home of his forever family. 💔

Rico was shut down for weeks, but when he finally understood he was safe and home, he started to show his general anxiety, stranger danger, leash reactivity, and more behavior needs. After unsuccessful experiences with an aversive-prone trainer, redirected aggression at an overwhelming board and train, and multiple instances of aggressive behaviors displayed towards friends at home, Rico’s well-meaning family finally found an experienced behavior consultant to provide clarity amidst this chaos. 🌤️

This is where I entered Rico’s life, working with my colleague to develop a proper stranger ritual with Rico, so Rico could begin to feel safe, confident that his voice would be heard, and understanding that he wouldn’t be forced to be friends with people or dogs unless he was comfortable. ☮️

In the past two years, holy moly(!!), Rico Riquísimo’s and my relationship has developed from coexisting to being cuddle buddies! How did we get to this point, you ask? Through science-informed behavior training in consults and homestays! Stay tuned for more Rico sightings to learn more! 😉🤩

Do you need that crisp, new-book smell in your life, full of inspiration and fresh perspective? Look no further than my #1 recommended book, Comfortable with Uncertainty by Pema Chödrön, bite-sized practical philosophy for everyday life! 🌊

This gem gives incredible perspective in both my personal life and (you guessed it!) my work with animals - human, furry, feathered, and everyone in between. Imagine incorporating mindfulness lessons like "Start Where You Are," "Lighten Up (and Do Something Different)," "Getting to Know Fear," and "Nowness" into your daily life with your animals...everybody benefits! 🕊

When working with behavior needs like fear/anxiety, aggression, reactivity, stranger danger, hyper-arousal, isolation distress/separation anxiety, and more, I'm grateful that I have this book as a resource, and I hope it may be of benefit to you, too. 🙏

Pump yourself up with tricks for self-made motivation, fill your cup with tips to develop a simple mindfulness practice, and quell the tempest of anxiety that challenges us all from time to time...and then tell me which passage was your favorite! 🌿
