Littergard and Littergard Kit by Felineasy: Our Story
Background:
Cats have been furry favorite companions in the Felineasy household for many, many years. With these feline friends comes daily litter clean up, one of the most unpleasant of household duties. In pursuit of efficient and effective litter clean up, we experimented with many litter disposal units on the market. Some manual; some automatic. Finally, we chose the Littermaid self-cleaning automatic litter box for our multi-cat family.
Although not perfect, the Littermaid serves daily needs well enough for two busy adults with limited free time. However, we did not like discarding Littermaid waste receptacles. Receptacle replacement is messy and unsanitary, requiring contact with soiled litter and waste. Replacement receptacles can be quite costly, and disposal creates excessive non-degradable waste in landfills. As a result, we started experimenting with alternatives to resolve this unattractive and expensive housekeeping task.
Along the way, we began modifying receptacles and reusing standard Littermaid receptacles to find a more permanent solution to feline waste management. In the meantime, we found that litter quickly accumulated on top and under the junction between the Littermaid litter pan and the installed receptacle.
