The first Saturday of the month means it’s BetterTogether time! We can’t wait to host our shelter friends THIS Saturday for our monthly adoption event! Fifty-plus dogs and cats from across Central Virginia will be looking for forever homes from 10 AM to 1 PM. Come out and find your new best friend!

Our pet food pantry is starting to shape up. We have adult cat food, kitten food, adult dog food, puppy food, puppy formula, some collars and leashes, and a limited supply of flea meds. If you are experiencing financial hardship and need some pet food, please message us and we can set up a pickup time.

On this day two years ago we lost our friend and Liz’s Place namesake, Elizabeth Ratcliffe. Elizabeth was a bright, shining light, a compassionate animal lover, and loyal Sanctuary Rescue supporter and cheerleader. We miss our friend dearly, but we are so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in her loving memory at Liz’s Place. Her light continues to shine through the work we do here, and we are honored to do it in her name. Thank you, Liz. We love you and miss you.

Edith and her stuffy wanted to remind everyone that due to spring break there will be no BetterTogether Adoption Event tomorrow (Saturday) at Liz’s Place. We’ll be back at it on May 4!

Just a small smattering of the 30 or so dogs that will be strutting their stuff at this month’s BetterTogether Shelter Adoption Event Saturday, March 2, from 10 am to 1 pm. Eight local animal control agencies will be bringing out their adoptable dogs and cats for one giant adoption event. We’ll be here at Liz’s Place rain or shine helping this fancy fidos find families! We’ll also have a cute little area for your pet’s Valentine’s pictures as well as free behavior consults with our friends Lucky Dogs Training and MORE LLC. This is Riggs. He’s a seven-month-old, fully-vetted German Shepherd, and he’s one of the dozen or so dogs that will be at Liz’s Place this Saturday, February 3, for our adoption event with local shelters. Riggs and all of his buddies are looking forward to meeting you on Saturday. And don’t forget we’ll have a trainer there to answer all of your dog behavior questions and a super cute setup for pet Valentine’s photos. So come out and meet Riggs and lots of other great adoptable dogs 10 AM to 1 PM this Saturday at 16916 Hull Street Road (behind Maya’s Mart Exxon).

Yesterday our vaccine clinic dream team helped dozens of community pets stay healthy. Today we’re hosting a birthday party for the infamous Ella Super Beagle at 2 pm. Come on by!

We just had two cancellations for today’s vaccine clinic (it was a large litter of puppies that we blocked off two appointments for) and have some last-minute availability. So if your dogs or cats are due for vaccines or need a heartworm test, microchip, exam, etc. please reach out! I’d love to fill these sudden openings so we’re not sitting around twiddling our thumbs for an hour when we could be helping some pets stay healthy. I’ll link the website in the comments with our services offered and pricing (it’s a low cost community clinic so about 40% off of retail).
