This summer has been tough on us, we could really use the support of our community to help get us through
Over the last several weeks, FMN has taken on numerous medically needy cases - from heart murmur, to broken jaw, to intestinal blockage, to seniors with severe dental disease, to malnourished bottle babies. None of these have been easy, and many of these did not have positive outcomes 😣 Birdy, our heart murmur puppy passed when her heart gave out after months of working overtime. Catfish, our husky with an obstruction passed overnight before he could get to surgery. Our Ice Cream Bottle Baby Kittens couldn’t overcome their history and failed to thrive. They all passed over the course of a month despite our best efforts from our foster and veterinary teams.
We care deeply about every pet that comes into rescue, they become part of our family. We were there for every single one while they passed, comforting them as they crossed over the rainbow bridge 🌈 Each one a devastating loss.
Medical cases are our soft spot. That is how our little rescue officially got started, with our girl Penny Popeye 🩷 Penny was bit by the other dog in the home and required eye removal surgery. She is now living her best life and we’ve been lucky enough to see her around town a couple of times!
Being there to help a pet through their worst days and see them grow and blossom as they heal is one of the most special things we’ve ever been a part of.
With a month like June that felt like endless medical appointments and heartbreak, we’ve been emotionally, mentally, and financially drained.
I have seriously considered whether or not I am able to continue to take on this emotional toll every day. There have been many moments where it has felt like too much and I’ve almost called it quits. Finding happily ever afters, seeing our community support us, and puppy kisses are the only things that have kept me (and my amazing volunteers) going.
We took a break and drastically slowed our intake over the last few weeks to provide some time and space for us to breathe. We’ve just started to get back to our “normal” but we’re going to need help
As expected with the level of medical needs that we have had, we have a big ole vet bill at $15,172.66 😖 We’re moving back into the swing of fundraisers and events to help us get this down!
And we are out of puppy food! Our fosters have the last of our open bags but with the amount that these puppies are eating, we will completely run out very soon!
