Having taken some time out over the last couple of years I’m now at the point where I can get this page going again!!

I’m excited to say that I am now based 7 days per week at Rockwood Equestrian Centre between Emley and Flockton.

I have availability throughout the week and weekends, both day time and evenings to book in some lessons!

We have some amazing facilities here for you to bring your horse to. Including an outdoor dressage arena, outdoor show jumping arena as well as an indoor so the weather won’t stop us too often!

As always, I can also come out to you if you’re local enough with discounts available for 2 or more clients on the same yard.

In the new year I will also get my once very popular group lessons up and running again!!

I just want to say a huge thank you for yesterday ❤️

Thank you to everyone who helped me, all my friends who were pole picking, poo picking, making sure people were in the right place at the right time etc. 🙋🏻‍♀️👱🏻‍♀️👩🏼👩🏻‍🦰👩🏻🙋🏼‍♀️

Thank you to all the competitors for supporting us so well and who made organising and watching nearly 100 rounds of show jumping not too stressful in the end!! ☺️

Thanks to everyone who gave feedback, for our first one, we knew we would have the odd teething issue although that turned out to be hardly anything at all.
All comments are taken on board and will be used to improve every time.

So yesterday we had a fabulous day doing the jumping clinic, lots of great work from all the horses and riders ❤️🐴

I want to just take the time to say thank you to all my lovely clients, who also become friends, after 2 years of lockdowns and 18months of living 90 miles away, are still here and welcoming me home with open arms.
I hope you all know how much I appreciate that 🥰

So now onto the next one.

Friday we have showjumping running at Aldham Mill, we willl have a photographer there and the cafe will be open.

Today is the last day for entries so that I can do the time slots tomorrow.

Last June Daisy finally had her long awaited foal, now she’s been back in work about 4 weeks and just had her first canter back under saddle this week.
So far so good!

⁉️ Do you have trouble getting those perfect canter transitions? ⁉️

So did these two until this week‼️

Watch with the sound on to listen to a bit of what we’re talking about and working on 😊🐴💕

Here’s Hope and Millie, they have really established quite a good quality and consistent outline in trot where the mare is starting to work from behind creating a more uphil feel where she is soft, balanced and light in the hand 😇😇😇

However.....! ❌⛔️❌⛔️❌
It was all going out of the window when it came to the canter transition!!
We saw disengagement from the horse, resistance and lack of impulsive with loss of balance and ineffectiveness from the rider.

Here is a small snippet of the work we have been doing and the difference is incredible already.

They both worked really hard on this 🐴💕😊

Finding some slightly rusty sideways button on this lovely big boy yesterday, 21 years old, dressage horse back in the day turned Hunter to now an all round riding horse but after quite a few years he’s not forgotten his original training 💙🐴

A little clip of me riding Ash on my visit back home to Barnsley this week.

Ash has a tendency to either over bend, tuck his nose in and go too long and low (possible from being ridden quite a lot in drawer reins?) or he will gets very tense, stick his head up, press the panic button and go go go!
So the work we were doing was all about encouraging him to be soft and relaxed through his work whilst moving into more self carriage and engaging with his hind legs.

Here’s another impressive before and after…

Timmy loves a good canter out hacking but did not want to canter in the arena at all!! He would object and buck on both reins, just flat out refused to budge, knowing that unseating his rider got him out of having to do too much work!

Until now that is.

Now we understand he isn’t really built for corners and cantering round them is quite a hard thing for some horses to learn but with some sympathetic training and a few flatwork sessions working on suppleness, responsiveness to the leg, obedience and quality of the trot video this is the result 😁🐴💙

A happy and relaxed horse and rider starting to work together in harmony rather than falling out every time!

Same on both reins, these are just a quick snapshot for an example 😊👍🏻

The lovely Blue who I’ve been schooling for the last few weeks coming on very well.

His work at the moment is all about working harder through his hind leg to engage and become light in the contact and eventually develops self carriage.

When I first started with him he would be strong on the rein and put in a funny ‘hop’ and canter stride instead of a forward trot. With the work we have done he no longer does this and is much more relaxed and happy in his schooling work 💙🐴

About a month ago I got a phone call to come and help these 2, they were really wanting to jump in their field but the pony insisted on galloping off back up the hill to the stables!

Now, with just 3 sessions and a bit change they have already achieved this.

Linking 3 fences together in different directions with the canter rhythm maintained throughout and, most importantly, NO gallloping off!!

Very pleased with their progress, no stopping them now 💞🐴
