Chaco slaying as per usual 🔥 and then there’s me with my rbf out in full force 🫣

Finally got to see my perfect taco pony todayyy after working in Kentucky for 8 days and then being sick when I got back 🙄 it was so humid today that he was sweating his butt off just standing out in the pasture (I mean, same tho) so I gave him a nice cool rinse off and hand grazed him in the shade for a bit & then put him back out with his buddies 💖

It’s still ridiculously humid here but not *quite* as hot, thank goodness 😅 I’m also still sick but at this point I’m gonna go see Chaco tomorrow no matter what because I can’t stand being away from him for this long 👉🏻👈🏻

Such an Iowan background in this photo

I’m still sick, and therefore am very displeased, because I’d really like to go see my horse after being gone for 9 days 🙄 but on the bright side, I’m at least avoiding this absolutely ridiculous heat & humidity we’ve been having these last couple days, I suppose?
Fun fact, even though Iowa is in the Midwest, it’s hella humid here because of all the freaking corn 🌽 there’s this lovely thing called corn sweat, where the corn releases moisture into the air (an acre of corn can apparently give off about 3,000-4,000 gallons of water a day) making the humidity levels ridiculously high 🫠 like, our humidity is about on the same level as Florida right now. I hate it.

Chaco the best boy + the Richfield Video squad 😼

We’ve gotten into the championship classes now at the World’s Championship horse show here in Louisville, which means fancy rose blankets and big pretty ribbons 🥇 it also means lots of screaming, so I may or may not be temporarily half deaf from having the screaming crowd in one ear & the other live camera operators in my other ear — but it’s still fun, so it’s okay 😙 just one more day!

We are on day 5️⃣ of the World’s Championship horse show in Louisville! I’ve been filming the livestream the last 3 sessions, which I’m happy about because I enjoy that a lot more than being on iso 😅 there’s no morning session tomorrow, so .equine._ & I might go explore the KY state fair a little bit 🎡

On Saturday I’m heading to Kentucky to film the World’s Championship in Louisville, WITH MY FAVORITE GRAECI .equine._!!! We even get to room together 😎 and then in September I’m headed out of the state again, for a surprise that I can’t wait to share with yall 🫣 so excited for the next few months!

My perfect Chaco taco 💜
He was seriously amazing on Friday. Even with the screaming crowd, loud music & booming announcer, chaotic warm up pen and full arena, he stayed locked in and focused on me the entire time. I couldn’t have asked for a better ride — he was incredible. Truly the best boy 💖

2024 State Cowgirl Queen Competition 👑

We made the finals, so finished in the top 15 out of 60ish competitors! Chaco was INCREDIBLE, and I think my interview was the best I’ve ever done out of all 8 times I’ve competed in this competition. Even though we weren’t selected for the top 5, I’m very happy with how Chaco did and how I rode & interviewed. 💜

State fair has gone well so far!
All of my students went home with good placings — Ethan was champion in 11th grade trail & reserve grand champion in senior hunter under saddle, Bella won reserve champ in 9th grade trail, Liv won champ in 12th grade trail, Ellie made it to the junior finals in both ranch walk trot and ranch pleasure, Elsie placed 4th in a tough showmanship class, Lily was 2nd blue in English walk trot, & Kendall recieved blues in both of her ranch classes 🥳
Tomorrow evening, Chaco and I compete in the state cowgirl queen contest for our 8th & final time 💜

We had lessons all day today at , tomorrow we have a few more lessons in the morning, and then in the evening I’m holding a ranch clinic for the 4-H kids who are going to state! And then we’re holding a trail clinic on Sunday evening. Let the state fair chaos truly begin!!

another busy day of lessons today, but I managed to sneak in a ride on my own horse for once! we’re working on getting ready for the state queen transitions, he’s been kept in shape by doing lessons all summer but now I gotta give his buttons a refresh 😂 we did lots of transitions, bending, & stopping!

today we had one of our last pony camps of the summer at ! we have one more tomorrow, and then this weekend it’s state fair prep time… because we head to state on Monday 🙈 I have 9 (yes NINE) students going to state, the most kids I’ve ever had go to a show this big with me! And then Chac & I will be in the state queen contest on the 9th 👑

I spent yesterday recovering from county fair — I got to sleep in for the first time in ages, and then Ethan , Bella & I went to see Twisters 2! It was pretty good 🌪️

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it.
I’m equally proud of every single one of my students this week, but man, I cannot put into words how proud I am of my little horse. He’s truly something special.

The very best boy, Chaco taco, and his lease kiddo, Tyler, won overall novice highpoint champion yesterday at our county fair horse show 💜
Chaco has won me more buckles than I can count over the years, but something about this buckle feels particularly special, and it’s not even mine. My heart horse, the horse that I trained myself into something special, winning a buckle with a kid who started taking lessons with me as a complete beginner 3 summers ago.

Chaco is the best horse I could ever ask for. How did I ever get so lucky? 💜

People can hate on Iowa all they want, but at least all that corn makes a nice photogenic background 😌

We’re currently in the middle of county fair prep week here at ! 3 of my novice students are coming out for 3.5 every morning to practice patterns, rail work, & speed events for fair, and then 8 of my intermediate & advanced kids come out for 4 hours in the evening to practice. We trailer the horses to the fairgrounds on Saturday, and then they show all day on Sunday & Monday! One of my favorite parts of the year 🫶🏼

When Chaco sees his old paddock buddy Sheldon .equine and thinks he’s supposed to race him 🏎️
Who are your horse’s friends? Chac loves Sheldon from back when they were at the same barn, and nowadays his best friend is Laredo , for some reason 👹

All the kiddos did great at yesterday’s show!! Everyone rode well, displayed good horsemanship, and won some ribbons to top it off 🫶🏼 so proud of everyone!!! Chaco & his lease kid, Tyler, won a BIG junior showmanship class, plus a couple large novice classes! 🥇 Bella & Ellie won Highpoint for their divisions, and Tyler, Liv, & Kendall won reserve Highpoint for their divisions! 🎉 swipe for pics of the nerdlets (minus Nico & Mackenzie bc they had to leave as soon as the last class was done)
And boy, was the horse show hangover real today 😴
