🌞🌡️ Hot Asphalt Alert for Pet Parents! 🐾

As summer temperatures rise, it's important to remember that asphalt can get dangerously hot for your pets' paws. Did you know that on a sunny 86°F (30°C) day, asphalt can reach a scorching 135°F (57°C)? This can cause burns and serious injuries to your furry friends.

Why is this important?
- Paw Burns: Asphalt retains heat and can burn your pet’s paws in seconds.
- Overheating: Walking on hot surfaces can contribute to overall body overheating.
- Discomfort: It’s simply uncomfortable and painful for them to walk on hot surfaces.

Tips to Protect Your Pet:
1. Test the Surface: Place your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pet.
2. Walk Early or Late: Take walks in the early morning or late evening when the ground is cooler.
3. Use Paw Protection: Consider pet booties or paw wax to protect sensitive pads.
4. Stay on Grass: Whenever possible, walk your pet on grass or shaded areas.
