Baby Kitten
Caught this wild child yesterday. Today she’s calm and actually enjoying my company. Took less than 24 hours. Patience is key! In 5-6 weeks she will be ready for a new home.
I haven’t seen Lancelot since just before the Texas snowpocolypse. I even asked our landlord if she had seen him as he frequently went to their barn. She hasn’t. Game cam hasn’t been functioning in a while. I’m going to set it back up today and hope to catch a glimpse of him coming by during the night.
This is the hard part of community cats. Losing one. I still look for him every morning and evening when I put food out.
I have apparently been feeding this sweet possum for quite a while now. He comes by every evening for dinner. Notice Oscar and Other Mother curled up together on top of the tupper. Possum shared a meal with another kitty a few nights ago. Amazing how well they all tolerate each other.
When the power is out and you have some creative energies, you crochet! Pat loves his new doobie doobie catnip toy!
I have to share this hilarious video of Princess playing on my bed the other evening. She has this one toy that brings her so much joy to play with. It’s fun to watch her spring after it. Watch till the end!
Hungry, hungry kittens
On Saturday’s I make up homemade cat food for all the kitties.
This batch is chicken leg quarters, beef liver, two eggs, pumpkin purée, water, salmon oil, lite salt and taurine. I partially bake the chicken on Friday and refrigerate overnight. I cut up the chicken into smaller pieces and put through the meat grinder. I also process the liver in with the chicken. Then I transfer to my mixer and add the remaining ingredients. Nutrients are mixed in with the water. Now that the kittens are eating well, I’m going through a lot a week! I will freeze a portion for the end of the week so it’s all fresh.
Today will be the worst day of Lancelot’s life. He’s losing his balls. This guy is battled scared. His poor ear has seen better days. Hoping he can lead a peaceful life after today.
He is actually very friendly! It seems he was socialized at some point. I wonder if he was initially someone’s little cute kitten. Someone who didn’t have him fixed and put him outside. That’s not right and it’s not fair to the cat. Please spay and neuter your pets!
Thanks to a generous donation I was able to have him fully vaccinated, given a flea treatment plus extra pain medication, and his neuter. His ear will be tipped so that others will know he has been fixed.
One less baby maker in my neighborhood!
Cute afternoon video. Hungry babies.
