Meola Reef Dog Park

I'm away at the moment but I've been asked about access to the dog park while the road works are on. Can anyone update us?

Meola Road will be closed from mid-December until early February.

A park user has found this purse and car key. They've been handed in to the Central Police Station.

I hope they find their way home.

If your dog isn't safe around kids please keep your distance.

If your dog is likely to chow down on their food then it might pay to stay away too.

Yesterday there was a really bad attack at the dog park with a man and his dalmatian badly injured.

No description of the dog but accompanied by a couple and a child.

If you saw anything please contact the police - it has been reported to them.

If you know the people, or the dog involved please contact the police.

Unfortunate incident reported in Reddit. One of the screenshots has an Animal Control reference number but, as often happens there are differing opinions.

In general
- be careful with your puppies
- be careful with your adult dog and other people's puppies
- ensure you have recall
- don't stand still in dog parks, do loops up and down the hill, keep your dog active.

Disappointed to hear of aggressive policing of the disabled parks. If the vehicle has a permit trust that person to be genuine.

If you believe there is fraudulent use of a permit it's probably better to avoid confrontation and use official channels.

In this specific instance, the user had a wheelchair BUT many disabilities aren't visible and people shouldn't be obliged to share their challenges with strangers.

Edit: There are 2 sides to every story and it seems that the user of the disabled park wasn't permitted and there was quite an audience.

Rule of Thumb: Don't be a dick, leave the disabled parks for those who truly need them.
