Heliconia psittacorum 'Sassy'

An absolutely stunning psittacorum and probably the most colourful out of them all. The multi-coloured flowers are held high above the foliage, producing a spectacular display when mass planted. Great cut flower and pot plant.

Typical height: 1m
Climate: Prefers tropical or subtropical climates, or warm protected areas in Temperate climates (eg. Coastal Sydney)
Light conditions: Full sun to part shade
Growth habit: Slightly spreading
Growing conditions: Moist well drained soil, rich in organic matter
Flowers: Spring through to late Autumn
Grows well in Curacao !

First local bloom Alan Carle ! Heliconia psittacorum x spathocircinata 'Alan Carle' has beautiful upright orange-yellow bracts with tall glossy leaves. This tropical/subtropical ornamental plant prefers rich well drained soils and part shade to full sun. Grows up to 1 – 1.5m and flowers in summer.
