GINGER has been safely contained, vet checked, and is off to a great start to a new life.

We are currently packing up equipment and will start our journey home soon.

Long before we went official with Lost&Hound, we assisted lost pet owners in the recovery of lost pets.Volunteering countless hours to help with the spay/neuter programs in our community and vaccination clinics.

Every now and then a special request of support came though that I personally felt is worth fighting for, like Anka's case.

7 years ago, Anka nipped an uninvited visitor on her owners property, while the person attempted to enter the home.

Anka had to be surrendered to the Antrim County shelter awaiting euthanasia.
It was an expensive journey to take on. A $3500 fence had to be built, the court costs, fines, fee to be evaluated by a behavior specialist, not to mention the daily charge to house her in solitary confinement at the shelter.

As you can see, the family won the case,
but not without a price to pay.
The conditions were strict and active for the life of the dog. She was prohibited to leave the fenced area other than the routine vet visits. She had to be crated when nobody was at home to prevent her from nipping any possible intruder.
It was life-changing for everyone. The very active family was used to be taking her everywhere!

Yesterday, Anka was laid to rest at the age of 13. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Fly high beautiful soul, you are FREE!

We would like to acknowledge the importance of working together with a common goal in mind.
Last year, Dr. Amanda Zoerner from Pet Well Mobile Vet out of East Jordan, gifted us our first Microchip scanner.
It has been 8 months since we have incorporated Microchip scanning of found pets/found deceased pets as another option to locate lost pet owners. A true blessing, especially after hours when veterinarian clinics and shelters are closed.

How can you help when a pet comes up missing in your area?

REPORT SIGHTINGS to the owner
and or 911 non emergency.
Be as specific as possible with location, nearby intersections, landmarks, and direction of travel.
It takes a village ❤️
