Incidental learning--in other words, learning that isn't done intentionally--is so fascinating in people and pets!

Here, explains all the cool things his corgi has picked up, including the fingerspelling of his favorite things, just by watching his people and observing his routines.

In our house, we can't sign cookie or cheese without our deaf dogs going nuts. It's only a matter of time before they learn to spell!

This is a simple way of putting it!

I also like the analogy that asks: Would YOU work at your job even if you weren't getting paid? Probably not...

Learn the difference. Bribing is NOT positive reinforcement teaching.

If you still need food or you dog won’t listen to you then you weren’t teaching you were bribing.

Take a deeper look and make the change. This is what gives positive reinforcement teaching a bad name.

You want to be able to wean your dog off treats. Remember rewards can be a toy, a game you play, verbal praise, scratching them in their favorite spot, a smile, quiet thank you. Dogs are smarter than the are given credit for.

Will she only listen if you have treats. That’s on you not your dog.

Enrichment is such a hot topic right now! 🐶 One thing I've been thinking about lately is how not all enrichment is created equally, at least not for all dogs. I wrote a post about this (linked in the comments) but I also wanted to share this epic licky mat I found to add into Stola's rotation. She's SO smart that she gets bored easily. Anyone else's dog? What's your favorite enrichment tool or activity?
