Some dumbbell work with Mr. M: My goal was to first work on speed to the dumbbell, speed on the return and the hold. Then I focused on proofing the “front” with the dumbbell by challenging him to pick up the dumbbell and come to the front position without being directly in front of me. This is not something I have done a whole lot of, I allowed him to make some mistakes in order to help him work the solution by himself. Last I worked on some “Motion” exercises.

Teaching mechanics like “Sit” & “Down” to your dog is easy once you understand the technique. Engagement is the meat and potatoes to successful dog training. One of the difficulties being in a chair engaging on a physical level with my dog so I came up with this. This is a spring loaded ratcheting strap used to secure loads with a French Linen Tug on the end. Now I can engage with my dog without my dog shaking my chair apart or pulling so hard he break something.
