My previous family had to give me up, which is how I ended up as an emergency foster with my foster dad (Ross) in Cincinnati. I am a lovely blend of puppy and adolescent. I still showcase my puppy energy and wonder about the world, but I have also become quite well-trained and behaved. I am house-broken & crate trained, good in the car, know basic commands, & do much better on my daily, long walk with my gentle leader leash. I have many toys & love my stuffed animals the most. I occasionally chew on something Ross doesn’t want me, but I’m getting better at that, too. I’m not very vocal, although I do plenty of talking with my many sassy “looks.” At this point, I require a lot of exercise. I need a long walk every day to be on my best behavior, and I would thrive with other dogs in the house. Ross brings me to visit his parents a lot, and I love playing ALL DAY with their tenacious bulldog. I light up when I see other dogs, so I would thrive in a house with other dogs. Ross lives in the city, so I experience a lot of noise, people, and action, and I am now doing quite well. I don’t like being left alone, but I do pretty well when Ross has to go. After my walks, I love naps, cuddles, and covering up in blankets. I can be hesitant with strangers, but I warm to them quickly. I’m goofy, fun, and a princess. I love attention and company and give plenty of kisses. I am finishing up all of my shots and getting spayed, but I am in excellent health overall.If you have any questions, email us, and they’ll have Ross get you an answer.

Meet Enzo! Our first adoptable pup of 2025. Enzo is a big, sweet, handsome boy! He loves his people and other dogs and is gentle, curious, playful and velcro-lazy all at the same time. He’s mild-mannered with treats and knows basic commands. His first home had a dog that didn’t like him, so Enzo drew the short straw. He is an ideal companion as a single or one of many pets. He’s been good around kids and cats, and is only mildly curious about woodland creatures.

Enzo is 16 months old, neutered, up to date on shots and even has had gastropexy. He’s such a good boy!

Aggie here, my foster dad says that I’m the best puppers and I’m super smart. I’m pretty much potty trained and will go to the back door when I need to go out so most of the accidents are because they aren’t paying me the 100% attention. We’re still working on crate training. I’ll go in it with a little shove and then whine for a bit but eventually I just quiet down.
My foster dad works from home, so I spend most of my days on the dog bed chewing a nylabone, or a squeaky pig, or a rope, or another toy. If I’m not playing with something I’m usually taking a well deserved nap. When he’s working I’m usually curled up under his desk by his feet, and then at bedtime I have a bed in the bedroom that I sleep on.
I currently have 2 other fur foster siblings, a Frenchie and a Brittany (Spaniel) and we all get along. Lots of times since the weather is still nice dad will just have us all go outside in the fenced in yard to play and relax and give him a break. Every once in a while my neighbor will be out back with his little daughter and I’ll get handed over the fence to run and play with them. So I’m good with kids. I’ve never been around cats, but I’m a pretty easy going girl so I’d imagine I’d try playing with the kitty and if it liked it then I’d play, but if not then I’d leave it alone.
My worst habit at the moment is leash walking. Dad says I’m making progress but it’s definitely slow and steady.
I’m also currently eating about 5-6 cups of food a day from a raised bowl. If I could graze I would but the other dogs would eat the rest of my food, so I’m used to a breakfast and dinner routine.

Varys a handsome young dane full of energy and snuggles! Lots of play time, training and love are all that’s needed. He seems to like everyone he meets, can be shy at first but he always warms up quickly. Always happy to be included when others come over to visit. There will be zoomies.
Loves his toys, treats and naps and of course meal time. Will need more training but knows the basics. This boy still has lots of puppy in him and oh so sweet.
UPDATE:
Varys has been in rescue for a few months. His training has improved tremendously since arriving. He will need someone that is willing to continue the training that has been started. Varys is a smart sweet boy who needs a human to call his own.

Laverne arrived to FFGDRI rescue as a transfer from another giant breed rescue. Laverne and her siblings were sold at a dog auction in Missouri 2 1/2 weeks ago. Yes, dog auctions exist! These pups were from an Amish breeder in Indiana that could not sell them soon enough so they got shipped to Missouri to be sold for what ever they could get to make room for the next litter of pups. This is happening to every breed in the country.

Laverne was in a pen in Indiana with little to no interaction with her breeder. She is still covered in fly bite sores which are healing and very thin. She was overloaded with 2 different types of worms and not vaccinated correctly by the breeder. Thankfully she is thriving in her foster home. She is learning every day. She knows, go crate, sit, and go potty. she is not perfect with potty training but getting there. It is obvious she has had to be tough to survive. She will resource guard favorite toys or food sometimes. She is learning this is unacceptable behaviors.

Laverne is on medical hold until her vaccines are current and she can be spayed at 6 months. She should be available mid to late November.
