Recall is one of the core skills that we teach in our 'How To Harness Train Your Cat' course. It's an unusual one because it doesn't involve the harness at all... BUT it is super important and useful for harness training because:
☑️ If your cat is new to training it's the perfect first skill to master and gets them into the swing of learning new things!
☑️ With their recall mastered, you can rest easy knowing that when you venture outdoors, you can always confidently call your cat back to you on their leash.
☑️ It's almost identical to a technique we teach later in the course to redirect your cat if they're heading in a wrong or unsafe direction. So once they've learned the recall, the redirection is a piece of cake!

We want to give a huge shout out to Luna and her lovely meowmy for working so diligently on their harness training. Like many kitties Luna wasn't sure about putting her harness on at first. At this stage it's so easy to get excited and try to forge ahead regardless, but Luna and her meowmy did exactly the right thing - patiently worked through training, discovering Luna's likes and dislikes when it comes to how her harness is put on, and building up contact with the harness gradually over time with lots of positive reinforcement at every stage.
We love seeing how successful their training has been - and above all how much fun they're having!
