KJ is our resident water enthusiast! This playful 4-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer can’t resist a good splash when we’re spraying down the outdoor area. While we keep a close eye on her during these moments, her pure joy and excitement are absolutely infectious. As Megan arrived to walk Betty, she had trouble finding the beautiful senior golden retriever at first. Her home was undergoing some construction, but after a quick walk around, Betty was found in the upstairs office, waiting at the door with her velvety ears pricked forward.

As soon as she was let out, she ran right down to the door out of her room and waited somewhat impatiently to be geared up for her little adventure.

Outside, the December air was crisp and cool and the fog of the past week had well cleared away, leaving the pair with glimpses of sparkling blue sky over Puget Sound and the whitecapped peaks of the Olympics across the water.

They made their way south down Grand Avenue, enjoying the garden-like environment of the historic Everett neighborhood. Betty waved her tail as she walked along. She would stop to sniff every once in a while, but she was a very good girl and behaved perfectly.

As the two turned to head back home, Betty's pace quickened. As much as she enjoyed her daily outings, her favorite part of the walk was always the end... when she knew that she would be getting her lunch! As soon as they had made it back inside Betty waited politely by her bowl, quivering with excitement. Closing the door, Megan slipped away as Betty gobbled up her meal, content as can be.

As Megan the backup walker arrived at Bella's home, the UPS driver was doing the same. He passed the package through the gate as she walked up and opened the door to greet Bella, who had gone to hide at the approach of the UPS man. Though Bella, a beautiful black shepherd mix, had been dashing to hide, the moment she saw Megan she dipped her head and wagged her tail, excited at the presence of a friend.

Getting her leash, Megan called Bella over and gave her a few reassuring pats before heading out the door into the historic downtown Everett neighborhood. They passed antique shops, quaint little cafes, and museums before heading down to the end of Hewitt and viewing a historical marker along docks before turning and heading up the hill to go back home.

While Bella loves her walks and behaves so well while on them, her favorite part is getting a treat when she comes home. Once back through the door, Bella instantly transforms from quiet and polite, to wild and excitable as she dances around and then sits, her nose sniffing towards the treat jar. With great enthusiasm she does any trick asked, and then bounces over to her "place" on her bed. Bella is the best girl!

In December, Murphy the Golden Retriever and Hammy the Bernese Mountain Dog found themselves at the center of an unexpected Christmas escapade. Their walker elf had arrived, ready for a stroll, but as fate (and a pair of tricky harnesses) would have it, their adventure took a different turn. The elf, more accustomed to reindeer harnesses, decided a festive potty break in the yard would be the perfect alternative to their usual walk.

Murphy, ever the social butterfly, seized the moment in the backyard, wagging his tail like a candy cane baton. His warm, golden coat glistened against the gray day, and if you squinted just right, you might’ve mistaken him for Santa’s reindeer-in-training. Hammy, big, fluffy, and oh-so-regal, took on the role of the wise and gentle overseer. With his signature “drive-bys” for attention and a final triumphant plop onto the elf's foot for optimal butt scratches, he basked in the affection, his soulful eyes twinkling like the North Star.

Together, they transformed the backyard into a scene worthy of a holiday tale. Murphy's boundless enthusiasm and Hammy's calm, cuddly presence balanced each other perfectly, like Santa’s most trusted helpers enjoying a well-earned break before the big night. Though there were no harnesses or sleds, they delivered something far better: joy, laughter, and a reminder that the best holiday moments often come from simply being together.

As the session wrapped up, one thing was clear: Murphy and Hammy didn’t need reins or a sleigh to bring the holiday spirit—they carried it in their hearts.

Who else loves a good Christmas story?

💔 It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Chance, the beloved "Director of Love and Fun." Chance, my sweet senior Chocolate Lab, was more than just a cherished pet—he was a part of the heart and soul of Tailored Pet Services. 🐾❤️

From his sunny lounge chair in the yard to his endless enthusiasm for car rides and snacks, Chance brought joy and warmth to everyone who crossed his path. He reminded us daily of the simple pleasures in life and the unconditional love dogs bring to our lives.

While we’ll miss his gentle spirit and wagging tail, his legacy of love and fun will live on in everything we do. Thank you, Chance, for inspiring us to celebrate every moment. Rest easy, sweet boy. 🌈💕

KJ, a bundle of energy, couldn't resist the lure of water. Today, her playful spirit almost turned a simple yard cleanup into a water-filled frenzy. As the wrangler cleaned up a small mess, KJ eagerly tried to help, nipping at the water stream. While her enthusiasm was adorable, it was clear she was more interested in the water than the task at hand. To keep her dry and focused, we had to move her indoors.

Inside, KJ and Mitch, her furry friend, were inseparable. They chased each other around the playroom, their tails wagging with joy. KJ also enjoyed watching Charlie and Maxwell, barking playfully at their antics.

At the end of the day, KJ was ready to go home. She and her canine companion, Orville, raced to the door as soon as they heard their human's voice. Mitch watched her friend leave, knowing they would reunite soon.

Rodney and Remi leapt up with excitement as they heard footsteps outside. They knew something was up today. Their loving owners had leashed them up and put jackets on like they were ready to go on a walk, and now they were having visitors! Rodney and Remi used to be walked regularly with TPS, but took a break for a year. Their excitement was tremendous as the door opened to reveal the familiar face of their walker from the year before, Megan. Many wags were given and kisses distributed and the pair of pitties were taken out into the brisk December weather to be introduced to their new regular walker, Kenneth!

Their breath came like puffs of smoke as frost clung to the shadows alongside the quiet Everett streets. The group made their way through the neighborhood, encouraging the pups to sniff and explore. Reaching Hannabrook park, they hit the trail and wound their way around, watching as birds flitted about the wetlands.

Both Rodney and Remi took to their new friend with ease, thrilled to be able to share an adventure with someone new. By the time they returned home, it was clear everyone was happy, and the pups would look forward to more outings in days to come!

Sometimes it can be quite surprising to see the difference between a pup when they are waiting for a walk, and when they are actually on it! Take Cleo and Monte, a pair of pups living in the same apartment. Both Cleo and Monte are perfectly well behaved as they wait for their walker to crack the door open, resting cozy and snuggled in their crates, surrounded by blankets and warmth.

However, the moment the crates open, it's a different story. Silence turns to groans of excitement, and stillness turns into endless wiggles and kisses. On this particular December day, Megan the backup walker slipped in the home and after letting out the quieter Cleo, the shepherd mix, went to deal with Monte.

Monte could be a challenge; the pitbull puppy was full of energy, but also just as full of affection for anyone within tongue's reach. He was happy about everything that was going on, whether it be having his harness put on, or being taken outside.

After the wriggly struggle, the three made their way outside, the streets of the city echoing with the laughs of children at the school just down the block. The winter sun cut sharply through the buildings, warming everything it touched while everything in the shadows remained brisk.

Cleo couldn't be bothered with Monte's puppy antics, and kept to herself, quietly sniffing along. Monte, however, took particular interest in the frosty weather. In several places, dew had beaded and then frozen upon the grass. With excitement in his eyes, Monte dove right into it, and, mouth open, cruised along lapping and chomping every bit of frosty goodness he could!

The three made their way around the block, exchanging polite greetings with passersby. A security guard even popped out of a nearby bank to compliment Cleo and Monte on their good looks. Once returning home, the effervescent excitement of Monte began to calm, and he looked for quieter affection, and Cleo marched assuredly into the apartment. With just a word, Megan asked both pups to go back into their comfy crates and they hopped right in with a softly wagging tails, ready for a good nap.

Dobby is excited to share this poem about holiday safety tip #5 (number 4 is on Instagram so go there to check it out: http://bit.ly/TPSInstagram): Cover your tree water basin tightly with aluminum foil and a tree skirt; bacteria from sitting water can make your pet sick.

A water base, a hidden sight,
A breeding ground, a harmful plight.
A foil-sealed lid, a careful guard,
A healthy pet, a sweet reward.
A festive tree, a joyful scene,
A safe and happy holiday queen.

Do you cover your Christmas tree's water basin to prevent your pet from drinking it?

A Christmas tree, a winter’s dream,
With needles sharp, a hidden scheme.
A watchful eye, a careful hand,
To keep your pet safe, across the land.
A daily sweep, a gentle care,
A peaceful home, beyond compare.

How often do you clean up fallen needles around your Christmas tree ?

Bernie is excited to share this poem about holiday safety tip #1: place your holiday tree in a room that your pet can’t access.

A festive tree, a holiday sight,
Twinkling lights, shining bright.
But keep it safe, a hidden treasure,
Away from paws, beyond their measure.
A room secure, a peaceful place,
A Christmas tree, full of grace.

Mitch the Greater Swiss Mountain dog, returned to Tailored Pet Services for a cozy Thanksgiving staycation. As soon as she arrived, she claimed her favorite spot on the couch, sinking into a deep sleep. When it was time to rise and shine, she'd gracefully leap onto the master bed, her gentle nudge a subtle reminder that it was time to start the day.

During her stay, Mitch's favorite pastime was keeping an eye on the front door. She'd let out a loud bark whenever a delivery arrived, as if announcing the latest arrival to the household. Over the course of her stay, she "announced" five packages, each one a small adventure in her otherwise peaceful days.

After Thanksgiving, Mitch helped her pet hosts get into the festive spirit. She supervised the decorating process, offering her expert opinion on ornament placement and arrangement of the stockings on the mantle. With Mitch's help, the home was transformed into a winter wonderland.

Mitch's Thanksgiving stay was filled with comfort, relaxation, and a touch of holiday cheer. She returned home, well-rested and content, ready to face the winter months with renewed energy.

How does your dog react when packages are delivered? Post in the comments.

Cass, her short smooth coat an inky dark brown, ran down the stairs and to the door as her walker, Ashley, arrived for their daily outing. The rain had stopped and the quiet, park side Everett neighborhood was slowly stirring back into activity as other walkers and their companions also decided to take the risk of walking beneath the unpredictable gray November skies.

Leashed up and ready to go, the pair made their way down towards the lookout, where a carpet of rich green grass rolled into a view of Puget Sound, where the water lapped distantly against the docks of Everett's port. Despite the cool air, the breeze here was welcome and filled with interesting scents for Cass to explore.

Turning, they made their way into the arboretum, occasionally encountering other pups amongst the winding trails and interesting botanical specimens. It was a nice place for a walk, but the plants weren't terribly interesting for a dog like Cass --that is, until she caught sight of a curiosity bouncing along the ground. It appeared to be a tumbleweed of sorts, and indeed it was --but not of the "Western" or even plant variety! This tumbleweed was made of fur, and had likely been recently brushed from another pup visiting the park. Perhaps it was even left behind so that the wildlife could take advantage of adding some extra warmth to their nests!

Satisfied, and having seen and sniffed the lookout, the arboretum, and her quiet little neighborhood, Cass led Ashley back home, content after a wonderful outdoor adventure.
