The plan was always to work with these magnificent Brumbies and find the best homes for them. Due to numerous vet bills and preparing to move interstate, that time is unfortunately now. 💔 They both need further training with calm experienced people but I have no doubt they will both be great kids ponies or even a small adult.

Whisper - Approx 13.3hh. Approximately 8 year old gelding. Has had his two front feet trimmed by a farrier but was too much for him so I did his back ones roughly (I am no farrier) myself. He is perfect for me but still has stranger danger. Leading well and starting to do float work but not finished. Has had some desensitisation done with tarps and balls and bags. Can fit a lose saddle on him and he is going well with having it tightened. He loves his herd (including my domestic horses) so must have a paddock friend.

Loki - Approx 13hh. Approximately 3 year old Flaxen Chestnut gelding. Loki was the most timid out of his herd however has possibly turned to the most trusting!! He needs some calm and soft encouragement but when he trusts you, you can try new things with him and he handles it like he has done it 100 times before! I have done some things with him, left him for a couple of months and brought him back up and done those things again like he only did it yesterday. Has had his feet done twice by a farrier. And last wormed August. He loves a good neck scratch and his leading is going well. Same desensitisation as Whisper however Loki is more relaxed and trusting with this. Great with other horses.

This morning we had a visitor from Todd the Fox. Whisper was very curious. For anyone interested this is what brumbies do in the wild when they are checking something out. Tail up, ears pricked, facing it front on, running towards it, circle back, running a little closer and repeat. 😍

Tonight we said goodbye to Pandora. Over the past week she become really really sick. She lost weight dramatically, had severe diarrhea, was super weak, not eating, incredibly high heart rate and a heart murmur. Multiple things that were super concerning and in order to possibly survive would be taking her from her mob and transporting her to a specialist vet to check her heart and fluids and find out what is causing everything else. Her blood test was extremely concerning for the vet so there was a lot going on. If the heart murmur was due to her heart valves which the vet believes it was, even then there would have been nothing left to do.

The only bit of closure I feel is knowing if she was still in the wild, her death would have been prolonged but watching Hope (her daughter) say goodbye was absolutely heart breaking.

I'm so sorry beautiful girl. Run free forever 💔💔💔💔

Now we have Whisper and Loki in together so I can continue playing around with Loki to desensitise him as well as start to get serious with whisper.

Well Whisper is not as easy as Mr Loki that's for sure. He doesn't quite take it in his stride like Loki and pulls more faces and threatens to kick unlike Loki. But we are making progress and that's all that matters.

I have a bad case of tonsillitis and can't sleep so thought I'd post an update from today.

Went out to play with the mob and had some baby cuddles from Cooper. Then Cooper laid down right infront of me which was super cool that he was relaxed enough to do that. Then Missy did the same thing straight after which was even cooler...at first. Problem was, Missy kept getting up and down numerous times and was visibly uncomfortable which is pretty much a definite sign of colic. So after liaising with the vet, we decided to monitor her for the day and hope it passes on itself. Happy to say she has been walking, eating and pooping normally the rest of the day with no laying down, pawing at the ground or other discomfort signs so I hope it's safe to say we dodged a bullet.

Looking more and more like a real domestic pony. Can now get the saddle pad and saddle on together no issues and started some tarp work. He surprisingly was super chill about the tarp.

We had a melt down last week with the farrier, flipped himself on his back and wouldn't let the farrier go near him. So instead my wonderful brother inlaw came out for a couple of days in a row to get him to trust him then trimming his feet were no problems at all! 🥰

Baby steps with Loki as we are having a massive snake problem and have a dog who hunts them and needs to be watched when outside so it is very hard to get out and work with this little man.

We are still making progressive each morning though! 🥰 Can now pick out all 4 feet and he is leading very well. He needs a farrier but his issue now is stranger danger which I can't do by myself.

Anyone want some cuddles from this guy to help him with his stranger danger!? Preferably someone comfortable with trying to pick up his feet to get him more prepared for the farrier. Located Loch 😊

I have been working with Loki to prepare him for the farrier but this morning his mane was such a mess I decided to work on that instead. He stood perfectly still while I brushed all the sticks and knots out for the first time. 💜💜💜

I brought up Mr Loki to work with him for a few weeks one on one and noticed a chunk missing in his shoulder. It's small and manageable but was pussing so needed suplies and antibiotics. We put him in the small yard while I went to the vet to get sedatives to clean it out properly and he jumped the fence. So we put him in the hayshed, cleaned it out, dressed it and left him in there for the night. Woke up this morning and he jumped the 1.5m gates!! He is only 1.2m himself haha. He seems to be happier this morning being in the same area as our resident pony rather than just being next to the resident pony. Hopefully he stays put so I can continue to dress his wound and work on pressure/release with him. Wish me luck haha

Thank you everyone for the name suggestions, mum has decided on calling Pandora's foal Hope!!

Hope because if it wasn't for rehomers, she would never have been born. Her mum would have been killed whilst she was still in the womb. But also, hope was the last thing remaining in Pandora's box which we feel is fitting because hope will be the last foal Pandora has to have.

Pandora has been tricking us into thinking she is about to give birth for a week now. This morning she finally popped!!! We now also have a beautiful little girl. Mum still needs to decide on her name.

We have a foal!!! Missy gave birth before Pandora! She had some after birth hanging out so we had the vet out to do his thing and now Missy and bubba are doing great 😊

URGENT - CAN ANYONE TAKE BRUMBIES

Donna from NSW Parks has been calling rehomers trying to place brumbies removed this week, currently sitting at Blowering. If no rehomers step up we all know where they will go. Things have just got serious, applications have dried up.

Please share this around EVERYWHERE.

Trapping is still happening right now, if homes cannot be found these brumbies being hauled out of Kosciusko National Park will be separated from their families and face the worst fate of all, a terrifying death at a knackery. Smaller babies, young c**ts & fillies sent to the smaller knackeries to be made into pet food. Larger brumbies trucked the huge journey all the way to QLD to Merramist Abattoir where they will be processed for human consumption.

If you have the property and the ability to provide a loving and sustainable environment for a minimum of 5 brumbies, we encourage you to fill an application form out & email it to NSW National Parks ASAP. Due to Covid, NSW National Parks are paying the fees for delivery of brumbies to approved applicants up to a 400km distance. Under the NSW guidelines, if you are applying for brumbies from the current NSW trapping in KNP, there is a minimum of 5 horses. NSW National Park rehoming guidelines & application can be found here:

2 sessions of 30mins and he has a halter on. Brumbies always continue to amaze me, especially being I have never done this before. Now Whisper and Loki are ready to be gelded! 😬

He also had whole carrots for the first time. Took a while to figure it out 😂 video to come.

Update over the past few days...

Whisper (Stallion) now eats whole carrots!! I was super excited about this.

We also introduced two of our domestic ponies (dapple grey cob and little grey pony) to the mob and it couldn't have gone any better. They all respect eachother's space and eat together peacefully 😍

Today marks 1 week with us, about 9 days since wild. In 1 week our bill is up to $1,230 ($700 of which was donated to the gofundme so THANK YOU!), we have 8 bags of horse poo we aren't sure what to do with and gone through 8 bales of hay 😂
BUT, we can pat 3/5 of them on the head and hand feed all 5 of them. They are definitely getting used to our presence. The lead mare even whinnies when she sees us asking for more hay.

AND we have finally decided on names!
Stallion - Whisper because he is so gentle and quiet.
Lead mare (Bay) - Pandora because she is beautiful but you don't want to mess with her
Chestnut mare - Nyssa meaning begginings. It's also what my dad wanted to call me as a baby from doctor who haha.
C**t (flaxen chestnut) - Loki because he is the baby that plays with everything and not as trusting as the rest.
Filly - Missy because I am forever saying "what are you doing missy"

They haven't mastered carrots yet, so painted water bottles with molasses and it was a hit! Just for something different, fun and to get them use to interacting with strange objects.

Stallion definitely enjoyed it the most! 😍

Yesterday we had first pats!! 3 out of the 5 anyway. The two babies are still getting there but the rest are warming up to us :)
