I wanted to share these kind words from Sages family!!! This warms my heart!!!

"I bet it's so quiet in the house now that the pups are gone. I just wanted to let you know that we are so much in love with our little Tully Sage. She has fit in pretty seamlessly. She has slept all night for the last two nights without any accidents or whining. She goes to bed so easily and is getting the hang of the potty area. Today was her first day in the office with me and she got to know all of our receptionists and some of the other providers. They are going to spoil her rotten! Her vet check was yesterday and she did so good! She got boosters and gave the vet kisses while they were injecting the vaccines! She has got to be the MOST well adjusted puppy that i've ever brought home. I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you again! I can't brag on you enough 🥰"

Bed time at 10pm, no nighttime wake up calls, wake up at 5:45am! Nice pups!!!

Exercising a pup's body and mind!! Look at those pups learning so much in their environment!!

After the babies go home, be sure to provide a variety pig toys to keep a puppy active- both physically and mentally.

A bored pup is prone to explore... which can be destructive or teach the pup naughty behaviors.

Kennel report!

Bedtime at 10pm.

I was surprised to hear fussing at 3:30am! That makes 2 nights in a row, and I was a little less patient this time around (also I'd already been up to help my daughter clean throw up in her bed.... so not my best night).

This time.... I didn't have the patience to just ignore the pup until he or she (still don't know who it was- it was too dark to tell) calmed down. I marched myself to the kitchen where the puppy kennels are. The fussing stopped- the pup probably thought I was going to get them out. I waited until the pup fussed again, then I said "no!" In a loud and serious voice- surprising the puppy into being quiet again. But I didn't leave, in a few minutes the pup fussed again, and I said "no!" We repeated this until the pup got the message and went back to bed. Then I snuck away so that I wouldn't wake the pup again.

The pups slept until 5:30am (I didn't try to lengthen the wake up time because I had already postponed one pup's potty needs by 2 hours).

Zero accidents in the kennel, just like yesterday.

This is super important for the families to note before Puppies go home- as long as you follow the night time routine that I'll provide to you, you do not need to take the pups for nighttime potty breaks. Even if they fuss- as we can see, at least one puppy tends to fuss in the night, but is totally capable of holding it until morning.

Our pups went to bed at 10:15.

Around 2am, I heard a little fussing. It didn't seem urgent like potty needs. I ignored the fussing and we all went back to sleep.

Wake up at 5:50am!

Working on basic manners- helping the puppies wait for attention by sitting nicely before rewarding them.

Of course, with 7 babies and just one of me, it's a work in process- but I'm really proud of them for learning so quickly!

I'm so proud of our babies- they are so awesome at their kennel!

Bedtime at 10pm.
I heard a puppy wake up and fuss at 5:15am. I decided to wait a bit before responding to the pup- my plan was to get up at 5:30, stretching the pup just a bit longer before potty.

Well... 5:30 rolled around and the pup had settled back down, so we got to sleep until 6:10!! Nice!!!

Another great night.

Our puppies slept from 10pm to 5am, which is incredible for their age!

I am planning to start trying to slowly extend the morning wake up time- 5 am is a little early for me! 😆

Our last Puppy Picture Day!

Our babies are 7 weeks old, and will start going home soon. They are sleeping through the night in their own kennels, getting most of their potty outside (with my help to be sure they have lots of outdoor potty breaks), they are fully weaned and eating dry puppy food, learning every day from mom and siblings!

Although we know our babies pretty well by now and not much has changed- here's a little about each pup!

Penny (America) weighs 7lbs 5.1oz. She is social, sweet, fun and outgoing. She likes new things and is curious. She's just as beautiful as she is good natured! She always figures out new things quickly and was the first to learn to climb the fence!

Sage (Liberty) finally broke 4lbs! Way to go girlie! She is confident, has a tail that wags in a constant blur, jumps to reach me over her siblings, and is a total sweetheart. She can hold her own even though she's so small.

Knightley (Uncle Sam) weighs 6lbs 7.4oz. He is the most relaxed baby of the group. Snuggly and easy going. He does have a playful side that comes out, but plays in short spurts of energy and then he's back to relaxing.

Betty (Star) weighs 6lbs 13.0oz. Betty is a great balance of fun times and chill times. She is full of love and loyalty. Her seal merle is so stunning and unique!

General weighs 7lbs 7.6oz and is the largest in the litter this week! General is fun loving but not overwhelming to be around. His play is gentle compared to some of the others. General likes to be in your lap.

Tucker (Justice) weighs 6lbs 12.3oz. He is one of our most active and playful pups, perfect for his future as a bird dog! He likes water and has no fear of new sounds. Tucker is friendly and loving.

Rita (Bell) weighs 6lbs 12.6oz. She is energetic and loves to wrestle and play tug of war. Rita is excited about life and always wears a smile! She is smart and friendly.

Another great night sleeping in individual kennels.

Bedtime at 10pm, and everyone went right down with no fussing.

Woke up at 5:15 for a potty break, then a little more sleep until morning.

Again- most families expect to wake up every 2 hours for potty breaks, so our babies are doing fanatic!

Our pups slept amazing last night!

Bedtime at 10pm. I heard the slightest fuss around midnight, but we don't take potty breaks for sight fussing. It didn't seem urgent, so I didn't respond.

Next thing I know- I'm waking up at 5:45am!!! Those sweethearts slept from 10pm to 5:45am!!! Nice work pups!

Our vet visit went great today! Rilee and sage were great helpers with the puppies. All puppies have a clean bill of health!!

All puppies have their first vaccinations and a head to toe wellness exam. The vet commented many times about how well behaved our pups are!! He said most puppies wiggle, fuss, or try to get away but all of our pups were calm and cooperative! That shows what daily handling can do for a puppy!!!

We also got great exposure to riding in the car to and from the vet!!

Night #3 of sleeping in the kennels!

Our pups did great, despite the fact that mom snuck in to nurse them before bed (this is a big no no- more on that later)

Bedtime at 10pm, 5 minutes of standing nearby until the pups relaxed (therefore no fussing when I went to bed). We had one potty break at 12:10am and woke up for the day at 6am! Only one potty break the whole night- most puppy families plan to wake every 2 hours with their pups. Our babies are doing awesome!!

So let's chat about why mom shouldn't nurse before bed.

We follow a very careful bedtime routine (don't stress about the particulars, you'll get lots of info when you take your puppy home). One big important piece is that pups should not eat after dinner time and they should not drink after 7pm. This helps their bladders empty without refilling quite so fast.

Exploring the house!!!

Not easy to do with a group of pups who are still learning about where to go potty, but such a great experience for them! Wood floors are always new and a little scary at first. Repeated exposure makes pups confident and comfortable!

Overnight kenneling is on its way and going great!

On night #1 (Saturday night) the pups had a slow start. Bedtime at 10pm. It seemed like they were trading off who was fussy and one puppy at a time was crying until midnight. (A little background here- #1 I don't know who was fussing because I don't approach the kennels unless it's potty time, doing so would reward inappropriate behavior with attention. #2- I expect pups to go at least 2 hours between potty breaks and I expect this time to get longer and longer as they are more experienced. That's why the first potty break was at midnight). At midnight, I took the pups for a potty break and brought them back in to the kennels. This time, I spent a little time near them as they settled in and this made a big difference in helping them lay down and go to sleep (some pups get more upset if I stand nearby- sorta like "hey come get me outta here!" But some pups are calmed by familiar caregivers). The pups slept until 5am, potty break, and back in kennels until 6:30am. After the first bit, they did quite well!

Last night (Sunday night) the puppies were awesome!! Bed at 10pm, I used my new found tool of staying nearby for about 5 minutes as they settled in so there was no fussing. The pups slept until 12:45, quick potty break and back in kennels. The puppies slept until 6am!

I'm so proud of these babies, i know they'll get better and better!

I'm so excited to have my family come in to town for a few days!! You'll have to forgive me if I'm slow to chat. We'll be skipping puppy picture day this week, but we do have puppy personality testing results!!

Awwww it's a cold day in! 🥶 Poor pups would rather run and play outside, but we'll still get in lots of socialization, Desensitization, Startle Recovery, etc in our cold day!

Opening a trash bag- something we do so routinely that is normal for us, but can be super scary for a pup!! Sage did a great job introducing it slowly and gently
