K9 Hero Pillow Project Dian Chapman freely gives her time to make inexpensive embroidered pillows as tributes to K9 Heroes and family dogs. See my web site for details.

In January 2016, after receiving a gift of an amazing embroidery machine, Dian Chapman began embroidering the faces of K9 Heroes who were lost to disease, age or KIA. The project has moved on to include requests from families to honor their beloved pets. I only ask for a small charge to cover postage and some supplies.

Did you know:
If you have a pacemaker, you can put it in your Will to have your pacemaker donated to a dog in need after you pass. Pacemakers cannot be donated to another human, but they can be donated to dogs with cardiac issues who would depend on it to stay alive.
You can have the pacemaker brought to a vet of your choice. So many of those get thrown away and dogs die because people don't know they can do this. It even saves the dog's owner the cost of the actual pacemaker which sometimes means the difference in being able to afford lifesaving treatment or not.

Donated pacemakers can help regulate a dog's heart rate and lower the cost of cardiac care. A pet pacemaker can cost between $3,000 and $3,500, while a new human pacemaker can cost over $8,000.

Please give them your vote if you love K9 Heroes because they rescue lots of them from the Middle East who are contract dogs mostly that are left to retire in kennels. They bring them back and find them loving homes so they can enjoy retirement like a dog.

K9 END OF WATCH ALERT:

We have some devastating news to share this afternoon out of the Alton (IL) Police Department.

Earlier today, K9 Odin and his partner, Police Officer First Class Averbeck, responded to a call that ultimately resulted in gunfire between the suspect and responding officers, resulting in Odin being shot. He was rushed to a local veterinary hospital and despite their valiant efforts, K9 Odin succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

We share the sentiments shared by City of Alton officials shared the update on Facebook earlier today:

"With profound sadness, we honor Police Officer First Class Averbeck and his K9, Odin. We extend our deepest condolences on [his] tragic passing. K9 Odin served our community with exceptional bravery, and his sacrifice will always be remembered. Together we mourn this immense loss."

Rest in Peace, brave Odin. We will never forget you and your ultimate sacrifice.

😔💖🐕 This K9 Hero, who was a victim of K9 Hero Haven's neglect, needs a loving home.

Csonti spent over half of his life serving our country.

Trained in explosives detection, he proudly protected a U.S. Embassy overseas.

When it was time for him to retire, Csonti found himself at K-9 Hero Haven. Instead of receiving the respite he deserved there, he lived a life of neglect. But since coming to the PSPCA, he has blossomed back into the amazing dog he always was.

All he needs now is a forever home.

Csonti was our hero for so long, who will be his?

I have several friends who have lovingly adopted amazing retired K9 Heroes from Mission K9 Rescue.

They are veterans who go back to Afghanistan to save K9s who have faithfully served and are now languishing in Kennels.

These have been brought back and are currently at their location in Texas. But transport can often be arranged.

So if you would like to open your home to a retired K9 Hero, be sure to contact Mission K9 Rescue or please make a donation to help support these Heroes.

🐕‍🦺Check out the adorable faces of the 9 rescued working dogs from Kabul, Afghanistan!

These brave pups were rescued from Afghanistan by the amazing team at Kabul Small Animal Rescue
Their journey took them from Afghanistan to Washington, DC, to their temporary home with us in Texas!

Each dog undergoes a thorough medical and emotional evaluation. Some of these pups have experienced trauma and need extra TLC. Once they’re ready, we start looking for their forever homes.

This process takes time and money, and we've added these 9 Kabul dogs to the other working dogs we are already caring for and finding homes for.

💙We have 9 dogs, so let's round up to 10.
💰If 100 people donate $10 that's $1000, and that is what we need daily to care for them!

We can do that together! https://bit.ly/kabul9

Please make a donation if you are able or even adopt one of these K9 heroes.

These are k9 Heroes who have served and were taken in by K9 Hero Haven but were then neglected and have been seized from there.

They need help to be taken care of after way too much neglect. 😢🤬💖🐕

NO! This is so shocking and heartbreaking. Our very own K9 Hero Dax was hurt in his last apprehension and they had to retire him.

He just had his retirement party the other day and we assumed he would enjoy he's retirement with his partner and his family. And now we've learned that he suddenly passed away. 😢💔💙🐕

Military Working Dog Grief was killed by a bomb, but saved his partner and several other soldiers. Now Grief's partner, Alfred, has finished his book SURVIVING GRIEF. It's available now on Amazon. I thought some of you might want to read it. I just ordered it, so I can't say anything until I get it later this month.

I made a pillow of Grief for Alfred. His team members sent a card around the country when they returned and they all signed it...thanking Alfred and MWD Grief for saving them. They wanted the pillow to be added with the card and a way to honor MWD Grief saving their lives. You can read more about MWD Grief at this link below. And you can find SURVIVING GRIEF by Alfred Brenner on Amazon.

I have no affiliation with this company, but I swear by this Help 'em up Harness.

When Deja got sick in January, Greg bought two of these, one for her and a larger one knowing we'd need one for Tango and now we do (pictured). No way I could lift a 125 # dog without it. But with this Harness, it's so easy to get him up on his feet.

If you have a dog who could use some help or will in the near future you definitely want to check this out. Here's a basic intro video but there's lots of information on YouTube and their website about it.
