I have always had a passion for horses. I began riding when I was 7 and took weekly lessons until I was 15. I was that girl who was always at the barn.

Lakeside Equine Massage Therapy, LLC uses trigger point therapy and full body stretching to help each horse become a better athlete and be more comfortable in their work. From then on I have ridden at least once or twice a week and am always ready to go to the barn. I learned so much from spending my life in the barn, and most of it was from the horses. They have so much to teach us, if we open up
to them and listen. I became a certified equine massage therapist to help give back to the horses, because they do so much for us. There are many schools teaching Equine Massage Therapy. I spent months researching the different schools, making sure I found the best fit for me. Brandenburg Massage Therapy was my school of choice because I found that my desire to open up and listen to the horses was what she taught as well. The horse comes first!
Preslee, Cash, and (not pictured) Tavo got their bodywork treatments done today. Preslee, the blue roan, had a lot of tension to release from a big growth spurt she’s currently going through.
Cash, the buckskin, had a HUGE transformation today. He really worked with me and made a lot of progress in one session - he is well on his way to feeling good again now. 💙

It was a full weekend of bodywork! Splash had a lovely session on Friday.
Spice (paint) and Brooklyn (chestnut) both had great first sessions too - they worked through a lot of tension.

Earlier this week I worked with Jericho again. It’s always good to work with him, he is such a good boy. Robin called because he was moving extremely stiff and sore and was generally uncomfortable - her gut instinct was that his issue was muscular rather than skeletal. She was right!

He felt so good afterwards that he was kicking his pasture-mates off of the feeder, something he hadn’t done in a long time. 💙💙
Miller got some work done today and is all set for the Cal Middleton Clinic tomorrow at Pleasure Valley Horsemanship. 💙

Today I got to meet Blue! He did something to his hip a couple weeks ago and just wasn’t right. His owner was referred to me by another client of mine to see what I could do. He had A LOT of releases and after I worked on him his owner messaged me to tell me he was running hot laps in his pasture - clearly he was feeling better!
Yesterday was a busy day for me! Lucy, Cowboy, Roxie, and Legend all received Craniosacral sessions. They showed lots of releases and all showed positive changes in their posture as a result of the bodywork.
Cowboy in particular showed lots of change - check out his left eye in the before, during, and after series!
My interesting case of the day was Billy.
His owner contacted me because he had a hard time with his most recent farrier appointment - when he usually stands very well - and also refused to canter. She knew something wasn’t quite right with him, but it wasn’t an immediate 3-legged lame or definitive “call the vet today” situation. She said he just felt not quite right, and that it felt more like a muscular issue than a structural issue. So her friend, another client of mine, recommended I come out and work on him to see what would happen.
Billy told us exactly how much he needed the bodywork - he cantered back to his friends in his pasture after his bodywork was done. 💙💙

It was a busy holiday season! Splash, the chestnut, Azira, the bay with the purple halter, Attila, the big bay, and Indigo, the paint, all had holiday bodywork sessions. Each showed major improvement in their posture and muscle tone from their sessions and they all let out a lot of tension.
Their owners love giving them Christmas presents, and I was very happy to help them out!

Today I met a new client, Jack! He has had a hard life, but was rescued and has a lovely home for the rest of his life with Jody and her daughter. 💙 He was extremely grateful for the bodywork, and was very cuddly.
Miss Preslee had a session again tonight! She had a bad ride over the weekend and bucked hard, which is extremely out of character for her. Abbee messaged immediately to have me out to make sure Preslee was back to feeling her normal self. There were lots of releases and a lot of tension to work through.

This is what two sessions can do to help your horse. Xena, a fresh OTTB, had sessions roughly a month apart since being purchased to be an eventer.
Next time you’re out to see your horse, take a good look at how they are standing.
Are they camped under?
Parked out?
Always resting the same leg?
Do they ever stand square?
Can they stand with their hips and shoulders in line?
Do they consistently keep their head turned to one side or another?
The answers to those questions can tell you your horse is tight through their body and in need of a bodywork session. Message me today with any questions and to schedule!

I met Xena yesterday! We worked through a lot of tension from her previous career as a racehorse. These high powered athletes can be tense and sore when they come off the track, as you can see here, bodywork does them wonders!
