7 weeks old - how is this possible? I want to take a moment to say thank you to all the families who love them as we have. We have been so blessed by this litter and the wonderful people we have meet along the way. We are going to miss them when they head out onto the world next week.

Puppy palooza this morning with new beds. Mornings are always a special - LOUD - time!
2 have become quite the whiners - 1 to get out of any confinement and 2nd to be held .. at anytime, even 3 am. Lenny loves to pull - anything- and rearrange everything. Lucy (pink) is a true comfort princess - she loves anything cozy and comfortable! I cannot believe they are over 6 weeks already!

While I would argue with some of these costs included in the survey - I would agree with food/treats. I agree that surgery, spay, neuter, medication - cost is generally dependent on size! Toys- Beds - gates - I agree with that too! Oh and house repairs 😂😂😂😂 personally that’s a little low - ask me about my molding on the stairs for starters!

This picture explains my last hour … 😝… Five weeks old and wow! I had my toes tugged on- puppy pads tossed and pulled around - puppy snafus with each other .. 😂😂😂 all of a sudden they think they are grown!

😓 today they are moving to a more permanent pen for both room and ease and security- a few escape artists yesterday from the whelping box had Gideon, Mazie and Lucy corralling puppies!! My goodness!

Happy Monday - we are starting to move up to medium collars! If I had to hazard a guess we were between 10-12 pds and we will be 5 weeks old on Wednesday!

Such a special litter ❤️

Vet check coming May 3rd! And then it’s two weeks until May 17 when we can leave for our forever homes!

We mix their mash/gruel 4-5x a day! We feed Diamond Naturals Lamb and Rice Large Breed ground in the Nutriblender - soaked in water and we add Esbalic GOATS MILK formula. Both mom and dad dogs go crazy once we open the canister😂.. I’m thinking there’s same money in goats milk training treats !

Every pup is so fat and healthy. I’m loving their playful even temperaments. They have started coming to us for attention and love and it’s the sweetest thing ❤️.

Mazie (mama) is doing great - she’s still looking wore out to me and a tad skinny but she’s still feeding these plumpkins! Last night she slept all night.. 12-6 and so did the puppies! Much needed sleep!

Yesterday they were so sleepy all day - we call those “grow” days. Today they are already popping like popcorn 😂😂😂

FriYAY! The gangs all here! well except Ms ”do my own thing” GREEN 💚- she’s on the other side of the litter keeping herself entertained, and bringing me an unexpected burst of laughter and pure glee to see her being so silly! Nothing soothes the soul like a puppy!

Miss Green- refused to participate in the food frenzy melee this am - and took herself off to a nap. I don’t believe she fancies herself as a puppy, more likely a little human 😂. (She did circle back around to eat - after the crazy was over 😄).

4 weeks old today 🎉🥳 ( how is that possible?)

They’re getting SO BIG y’all!

This morning was a free for all feeding extravaganza! Mazie - walked in and I had the slat removed so she could get in the box— forget that🤦🏼‍♀️- they all jumped the remaining two slats and rushed her! 😂… first feeding outside the box!

I topped them off with their gruel or mash… all went to town on THAT too- chubby puppies! Here is the aftermath of the party with revelers passed out all over!

Monday..

These babies. ❤️❤️❤️. What a big week 3 as we head to 4 weeks old on Wednesday!

Pups are potty training. We use alfalfa pellet litter. Pups (generally) won’t p*e or p**p 💩where they sleep. We create a grass smelling area for them to do their business in hopes that when they go to their forever home - they are easily potty trained and the focus can be on bonding - not accidents 😂

These hungry babies - as mom spends less time directly nursing them- and starts to wean- we have introduced puppy gruel - 4/5 times a day! As expected these spectacular seven have transitioned perfectly.

Their little personalities and voices are coming out - and it’s so funny! Hank was getting ready to charge at yellow and she opened her little mouth and basically screamed at him- we laughed so hard because Hank froze - then turned around, keeping a cautious eye on his foe.. 😂.

Our little lovely precious Pink 💖- not only melts our hearts with her gentle spirit - all of the pups want to snuggle with her. The boys play with her but are the first to snuggle up with her.

I keep watching Reds head - in comparison she has this big blocky head and she is sooooo beautiful. I think if I had a keeper - it would be her. She and Green - ❤️💚are almost twins. Just like Orange and Yellow. 🧡💛

❤️Red still has all her puppy fluff and I find myself wondering if she’s a rare elusive fluffy mastiff. Her and Green 💚🐻

Fluffy is against standard - some breeders used to not let fluffy’s live 😳. It throws occasionally in a litter due to a little St. Bernard influence 100’s of years ago- introduced when Mastiffs - the oldest dog breed in the world - almost went extinct.

Can’t wait to see what the coming week brings us! What an incredible journey!

Saturday’s are for puppies!

✅ nails - first time with the dremel and no one batted even a wrinkle over it. Well except Miss Green who was her typical dramatic self. I’m so happy to see their puppy nails go and their black nails come in!

✅gruel- we’ve introduced it a couple mornings this week. Today we start with 4-5 feedings a day. Pups are getting teeth and Momma is spending less and less time feeding!

✅ washcloth baths - all got a once over with a warm clean wash cloth. No stinky babies allowed.

✅Lastly while everyone else was sleeping- Lenny was wide awake and we had quite the photo shoot for his new family. This model pup was the first born, the lightest and takes care of his brother and sisters, if one is whining he is always the first to run over to console them and love on them!

I was browsing a mastiff owner page here on Facebook, and came across a post by a new owner of a mastiff, asking for advice. 👀 Allow me to share these previous words of mastiff owners:

❤️ Never raise a hand or yell. This breed lives to please. Enjoy her and write a good story...I just lost my second one in Feb and I miss him so much

❤️ Be ready to be loved like no other before. They are super sensitive and will pout sometimes for more than a day if you hurt their feelings. but oh their love is awesome. Now their drool is something else. We keep lots of towels and drool rags everywhere and some of friends have sensitive stomachs and don't come by as often. We understand Socialize socialize socialize. They love to please you.

❤️ Get magic erasers for the walls and lots of drool towels. Best advice I was given when ours was a puppy was don't feed them people food or they will uncontrollably drool every time you eat and cook.

❤️ Yep move over !!! They will sit with you no matter room for them or not.

❤️ Get the bigger bed now s) lol we have a baby and she used that bed for a couple weeks now she is bigger than it is

❤️ DO NOT let her sleep in the bed with you... they adapt to this snuggle behavior quickly and make it impossible to get out of bed in the mornings.

❤️ Also, if you haven't experienced Mastiff farts yet ...

❤️ No running or exercise after eating for at least an hour. This is life-saving advice.
Research "bloat" as mastiffs are very susceptible.

❤️ Get pet insurance!! These giant babies can cost a pretty penny.

❤️ Join the Mastiff Health page pronto!
They are such sweet, sensitive souls

❤️touch her/his feet a lot and get him used to getting his toes done- always with a dremel.

❤️never walk her farther then you are willing to carry her home.

❤️the must have training: leave it/drop it, sit, and place. All for safety reasons.

❤️ Above all, love your baby! You just got the sweetest most sensitive dog on the planet and she's beautiful. She will give you back every ounce of love you give to her times 10.

Mastiff Nails (Pedicure)

First - you should handle your puppies feet and foot pads frequently so they’d get used to you touching and handing their toes, feet and nails.

As puppies just a quick touch to each nail a couple times a week is enough for nails to become part of their routine.

Second: We recommend a Dremel tool.

Mastiff nails are thick as adults and can be sharp if clipped - many mastiff owners have tales being injured by a sharp nail!

I start with the sanding head (pointy one) for the dremel - as pups (Included in the pic)
