This Sunday at Woodlands Animal Sanctuary xx

Due to the success of last years Woodlands Adoption Day, we are holding another one!

Join us at between 1.30pm and 4pm on Sunday 4th February, as we will be open to the public who are interested or would like more information about the cats/kittens that we have for rehoming! (And any another questions regarding our rehoming)

There is no appointment necessary, just turn up!

🎄🎁Give A Meal For Christmas Appeal 2023 🎄 🎁

At Parker & Crowther Vets every year we like to support local animal charities during the Christmas period by offering clients to drop any food / toys / bedding donations at our local branches.

We have great success every year with our campaigns, we run both the food drop off points and the donation page, in case you are unable to drop off at one of our branches. We are also offering a clothes drop off point at our Birkdale Branch this year.

From 27.11.2023 to 20.12.2023.

This year we have decided to run our dontation page for Animal SOS Sri Lanka.

Any donation amount would be fantastic, and we send a huge thank you to everyone who donates and from all the team at Parker & Crowther Vets we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

One of our nurses is an ambassador for Animal SOS Sri Lanka and often visits and sends supplies and items to help them as much as she can.

“We provide quality veterinary care to stray animals as well as refuge and rehabilitation. We have a beautiful free roaming animal sanctuary in the south of Sri Lanka which provides a safe haven for sick, disabled and vulnerable stray dogs. We also give refuge to rescued cats. We operate weekly neutering/rabies vaccination programs in the local area, adoption schemes and animal welfare education.”

In the wild, rabbits spend 80% of their time foraging.
Check out our top enrichment tips below 👇
🐰 Rabbits love to snuffle around for titbits so rather than put their food in a bowl, put it around the enclosure, in their tunnels or under some hay, this will encourage their natural urge to go foraging.
🐰 Use a treat ball to feed them, they will nose it around to get the pellets.
🐰 Willow tunnels stuffed with hay and fresh herbs mixed in their hay are super popular.
🐰 Willow, hazel, apple and blackthorn branches are always a hit, and are a healthy treat as well as a great addition to the diet.
🐰 Stuff cardboard tubes from toilet rolls with hay and hide some of their pellets
🐰 Put fresh forage in small piles around the enclosure
🐰 Make a few turf trays from potting or litter trays to give fresh grass daily, swap around to allow new growth

FIVE critical tips for housing rabbits and guinea pigs safely during winter 👇

🐰 Housing should ideally have some shelter from the weather, such as run covers that can be used to keep the rain off your pet’s home. This may mean moving their hutch to a more sheltered part of your garden. 🐰 During the colder months, make sure drinking water doesn’t freeze, and provide lots of bedding and fibrous food.
🐰 It is important to cover any housing with a blanket or quilt and waterproof materials when temperatures drop – while also leaving space for ventilation.
🐰 Where possible, you should also consider between- wall insulation for rabbit and guinea pig housing to prevent extreme fluctuations in temperature.
🐰 In extreme weather conditions, you should also consider bringing pets indoors.
