Calling all cat (and other small furry or scaly, feathered or even shelled, pet) owners 🤦‍♂️. Sandy Paws Dog Walking & Pet Services are offering our drop-in services over the Christmas and New year week for all Mevagissey residents who might be heading away and need their pet fed, watered, fussed and their litter tray freshened and changed. Limited availability so get in touch via PM if we can help

If and when possible, can all our regular clients please us know via pm who will and who won't need our services over the Xmas/New Year period so we have got everyone who needs us covered and we can start to sort our festive rotas. Specifically Xmas week, Monday 23rd -Friday 27th and NYE week Mon 30 Dec- Fri 3rdJan. We won't be dog-walking Christmas Day 🎄🎁🎄

Many clients and potential clients often ask: "What type of dogs are your trips suitable for?" or "Are there any groups suitable for my small dog?", "How large are the groups?" "What if my dog is in season?" and "How do you introduce dogs?" So here's some answers to those questions:
- Our trips are suitable for all friendly dogs, whether they want one friend or eight; no matter how big, small, boisterous or timid they might be. Our field flexibility means we have a group to suit all. We can group larger bouncy dogs who want to rough and tumble together whilst the more timid characters can have 1.5 acres to themselves to have a gentle play, sniff and potter without feeling anxious about the high energy uber playful dogs. Size isn't everything and we have some wonderful little and large combinations who love spending time together; dogs are grouped more on their character and needs.
- Using our split field system allows us to create one group as small as just 2 or 3 dogs if that is required whilst the other area might house more at the same time. Each group has its own handler too!
- If your dog is in season we arrange bitch-only/neutered male groups to ensure your dog can still be exercised and enjoy socialising with no surprises.
- We always communicate with owners around the dog's needs and character and are always happy to arrange a meet & greet to assess the dog and discuss their needs. Again our split field system allows the dog to be gradually introduced to the environment and some of their future playmates through our fence and then slowly, other dogs, in a carefully chosen order, can be introduced one by one, whilst continually assessed to ensure their safety and happiness until the dogs are ready to form a suitable group and thrive together. We are committed to continuously improving our already fantastic facilities and services as your dogs' wellbeing and happiness are our absolute priority 🐾🐾.

With the kids back at school we have some additional availability for our secure field trips. We have over 3 acres of private secure dog paddock with lots of natural doggy enrichment as well as some we've added. With rolling grassland, unlimited water supply and a wooded area for shelter, shade and variety there's everything to keep your dog safely exercised and entertained. We have the ability to split the paddock in two, allowing for a safe and extensive introduction paddock and 2 separate areas to allow dogs with different characters and play habits to feel safe and appropriately stimulated and socialised. Our secure paddock means you don't have to worry about uncontrollable factors such as your dog getting lost, unknown or aggressive dogs approaching, bikes, smashed glass, barbed wire or other hazards your dog might come across in public areas. A lot of love, care and consideration has been put into ensuring this is a fantastic safe space for your dogs to enjoy, so whether your dog is big, bouncy and enjoys more energetic boisterous play or is slightly more timid and reserved, preferring a sniff and gentle play and companionship we have the right space and doggy groups for you. Did you know: Sandy Paws also offer pet drop-ins for a range of pets including cats, reptiles, fish, rodents and bunnies (as well as pups of course)? This week we've been tending to a couple of Mevagissey cats whilst their owners enjoyed some sunshine and R&R. Each day we have ensured their litter trays are freshened up and they have plenty of food and water as well as giving them a bit of fuss and sending regular pics and updates to their owners. If you're visiting family for Christmas, working late, off for a weekend or maybe an extended break and aren't quite sure who's going to tend to your pet's every need just give us a call or drop us a PM.

We at Sandy Paws Dog Walking & Pet Services are always looking to upskill and enhance in order to add value to our services and ensure all our clients and their dogs get the very very best. From 8-10 November, we will be attending absoluteDOGS Super Trainer Live 2024 event; an immersive 3-day event for owners and their dogs and the best and biggest ONLINE dog training event of 2024. But that's not all: We have 5 tickets to GIVE AWAY to lucky owners who like, share and follow our page. This event is a special one, as it will be its 10th and final year over which time the organisation has received world-renown and nearly half a million Facebook followers who adopt their incredible, non-force, positive-concept methods and approaches to dog training and ownership. The event is for you and your dog and features a global array of world-renowned experts and guest speakers giving demonstrations and loads of positivity, support and fun for both you and your dogs.

The idea, the dream, of Sandy Paws was first conceived many years ago when after a generation of animal-loving, working with animals (in Donna's case) and caring for and training our own dogs through childhood, adolescence and into (in Tate's case) middle age, we sadly lost our cherished family rescue dog, Tess, to cancer over the lockdown period. "We're never having another dog" we blubbed, as we forced almost inaudible words through the contorted pain and saliva "But we will make our own dog walking and pet-care business one day" we promised each other. This would allow us to continue to use our love and passion to support dogs and owners whilst we healed and enjoyed fond memories of our beloved Tess.
In time, as our passion grew, the moons aligned and we left careers in education; all that was needed to make the dream a reality was a couple of gin and tonics and a leap of faith. The rest as they say...is history.
Although we were somewhat attached to the logo we dreamt up in a fifteen minute frenzy of free apps and creativity just over a year ago, we feel that now is the time to reveal our re-branding and new livery which we feel better represents our ethos, the services we offer, our amazing 3 acre secure dog field and the incredible locality we are so proud to work in. We're still the same 'old' Sandy Paws but have a fresh new look. Business cards are here, posters en route and vehicle livery sign-writing booked in for a few weeks' time. We hope you like it as much as we do. What a fantastic turn out for Marmadukes Of Mevagissey fun dog show at Portmellon Regatta. Lots of fun and dozens and dozens of remarkably well-behaved pups and owners making it a lovely afternoon. Lots of Sandy Paws Dog Walking & Pet Services representation (although a few were a bit confused as to why we weren’t walking them) - well done to Marmadukes for running such a great event and all the dogs, owners and supporters ❤️🐾

With temperatures expected to soar over the next few days, we will be operating slightly earlier than usual to ensure the dogs aren’t out in the hottest part of the day. With cool grass, lots of natural shade, plenty of water and paddling pools the field is well equipped to ensure your dogs will be safe whilst ensuring they’re not missing any of their usual fun and frolics.

At last - wall to wall sunshine and blue skies greeted our adventures this week which made a welcome change to December’s rain! The dogs were so excited to catch up with their friends and work off that last bit of Turkey and Christmas pud. Trail, beaches and field, Jack Russell to Great Dane; this really is the epitome of all creatures great and small. What an amazing fun-filled week. We love to step in last minute when you have an appointment, are poorly, are running late or just can’t face any more cold or rain that day - we will always do everything we can to ensure that when you’re in a fix, having to walk the dog is one job you don’t have to worry about. We did our best to avoid the mud this week with a mixture of beach and field trips which all our dogs absolutely loved. They certainly made an excited, enthusiastic and energetic start to 2024, wanting to burn off some of the festive excess no doubt 🤣.
