A police "digi-dog" who can detect mobile phones and laptops has been a success in her first year according to a county force.
Northamptonshire Police's PD Rosie is also trained to locate memory cards and even cryptocurrency.
She has found crucial evidence in cases involving robbery, drugs, domestic violence and s*xual assaults.
Her handler said that watching her retrieve something that officers could not find is "an incredible feeling".
One of PD Rosie's successes was during an investigation into child s*x offences.
Officers searched a house and found nothing, but she was able to locate a mobile phone which was hidden under a bed.
It turned out to be vital evidence which helped to get the suspect sent to prison for more than 14 years.
The four-year-old Cocker Spaniel's talent for finding digital devices relies on her sense of smell and the offer of a reward.
Rosie's handler, PC Sam Clark, said: "Everything has a smell ultimately, and once we identify that that smell is what we want her to find, she will work tirelessly.
"All she wants to work for is a tennis ball as a reward, and the playtime she gets with her handler."
PD Rosie has even had training in detecting cryptocurrency.
PC Clark said: "Cryptocurrency is an online currency - people can transfer that into a [physical] wallet form and it's the wallet that Rosie is trained to detect.
"Things are getting smaller and harder to find, but that's why the dogs are as good as they are, because she can smell it and we can't physically smell what she can find."
PD Rosie is one of a team of dogs which specialise in the recovery of fi****ms, drugs, and victims of crimes or accidents.
Another of her successes was finding a mobile phone which a robbery suspect had thrown away.
Despite a general-purpose police dog not finding the phone, Rosie located it 14 hours later concealed in difficult terrain.
PC Clark said working with Rosie "challenges me every day. Having that feeling where an officer's checked an area and not found something and she finds it, it's an incredible feeling."

Four-year-old dog named Efruz ‘loves the sea’, according to his owner, and often perches on a surfboard to ride waves.
Clad in a yellow vest, little Efruz balances himself on the front of the surfboard as waves foam around him and his companion as they skim over the Pacific waters off Peru.
Efruz is a four-year-old Jack Russell terrier and he is a common sight these hot days of the southern hemisphere summer.
“He loves the sea,” says his owner, Mauro Canella, a surfing instructor at the beach in San Bartolo, a district 30 miles (48.3km) from downtown Lima.
Canella says they began surfing together about a year ago. And they are not the only dog-human duo surfing the waves off San Bartolo. A dozen or more can be seen during the weekends.
Although Efruz gets cold as the hours go by, he appears to enjoy his new sport, planting himself at the front of the board while Canella crosses the waves standing, kneeling or lying flat.
As happens to all surfers, dog and owner occasionally are tumbled into the water when they fail to negotiate a wave.

A six-legged dog found abandoned in a supermarket car park in has undergone surgery to remove her extra limbs.
Ariel, a spaniel, was born with multiple health defects. She was named after the princess because her extra back legs were partly fused together, resembling a mermaid’s tail.
She was taken in by Greenacres Rescue, a non-profit group based in the town of Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The group arranged Ariel’s surgery and set her up with a foster family.
Ariel is recovering and walking normally, Greenacres Rescue said in a post shared on Facebook.
“Our wonderful and special little spaniel has been discharged from Small Animal Referral Hospital Langford Vets University of Bristol and is back in the comfort of her wonderful foster home,” the group wrote, sharing photos of Ariel wrapped up in a red blanket post-surgery.
They added that her procedure “went as well as expected” and she now has a few weeks of recovery ahead of her.
“Ariel has to now rest for the next 10 to 14 days to recover,” the group said. “We will post updates over that time.”
“There were two procedures which lasted about two hours but both went fine,” the charity’s founder Mikey Lawlor said of Ariel’s operation in comments to the UK national news Press Association agency.
“The next day she was up, walking around and eating and drinking.”
Lawlor said there had been an outpouring of support for Ariel from people around the world, including calls and emails from as far as Australia.
“I just can’t say enough of a thank you to everyone who’s contributed to helping her,” Lawlor said.
Ariel will likely be discharged from hospital this weekend and brought home to her foster family.

The world’s “oldest ever dog” Bobi, who died in October reportedly aged 31, has provisionally lost his title as Guinness World Records (GWR) investigates his age, a spokesperson for the company told CNN on Tuesday.
“While our review is ongoing we have decided to temporarily pause both the record titles for oldest dog living & ever just until all of our findings are in place,” the spokesperson said.
Bobi’s age had initially been confirmed by Serviço Medico-Veterinário do Município de Leiria (Veterinary Medical Service of the Municipality of Leiria), which said he had been registered in 1992 while SIAC, a Portuguese government-authorized pet database, verified this, according to GWR’s February announcement of the record.
He was reportedly 31 years and 165 days old when he died in October.
However, suspicions began to emerge soon after Bobi’s death regarding the evidence that reportedly proved his true age.
A spokesperson told CNN Tuesday that GWR’s formal review occurs when a record title is challenged and involves analyzing existing evidence, seeking new evidence, reaching out to experts and those linked to the original application.
Bobi’s owner Leonel Costa, who said he was 8 years old when his dog was born in 1992, told GWR in February that there were many secrets to the dog’s extraordinary old age.
Bobi always roamed freely, without a leash or chain, lived in a “calm, peaceful” environment and ate human food soaked in water to remove seasonings, Costa said.
He was a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo – a breed of livestock guardian dog – according Costa. Rafeiro do Alentejos have a life expectancy of about 12-14 years, according to the American Kennel Club.
Bobi spent his whole life in Conqueiros, a small Portuguese village about 150 kilometers (93 miles) north of the capital Lisbon, often wandering around with cats.

Kobe is getting extra "good boy" compliments after saving his neighborhood from a potentially explosive gas leak.
According to SWNS, the 4-year-old recently started digging a large hole in the front yard of his home. As the hole grew bigger, Kobe's owner, Chanell Bell, grew more concerned the dog was trying to tell her something.
"I trust his judgment because that isn't his typical behavior, and he is usually right," Bell told SWNS. "He has great senses, and he never digs holes unless he is helping me dig."
Bell had a gas detection device on hand after discovering a since-repaired gas leak in her home in December, so she decided to test Kobe's freshly dug hole with the device.
"I had a reader already in the house to make sure there were no leaks coming from my old heater," the pet parent explained. "When I saw the hole, I realized it was odd behavior for my dog. My intuition told me to check it."
The device detected gas coming from the hole the husky dug, so Bell promptly contacted the authorities about the issue. A gas foreman and crew were sent to address the problem and unearth the extent of the dangerous leak.
"If it wasn't detected and the gas continued to leak into our homes," Bell told SWNS. "We were told it could've caused serious health effects like respiratory issues, brain damage, and even death. They told me that something as simple as a light switch turning on could've caused an explosion, too!"
After arriving at Bell's home, the crew turned off the gas and repaired the leak. During the repairs, the crew discovered three main gas leaks in Bell's neighborhood caused by aging pipes. It took the workers over three days to repair the leaks and install new pipes.
Throughout the repairs, the crew praised Kobe.
"They were so impressed with Kobe and mentioned what a good dog he was," Bell said, adding, "It feels amazing to know Kobe saved our block; I am very thankful to have him."

A mix who may be the “most obese” dog one rescue has ever seen managed to lose two-thirds of her body weight, thanks to the hard work of employees and her new owner.
When Amanda Tull met Sox, a then-7-year-old Chihuahua mix, it was love at first sight, but little did Tull know, her precious pooch hadn’t always been a ball of energy.
“When I saw her pictures after I got her, I was really stunned,” Tull said.
When Sox arrived at Muttville, a senior dog rescue in San Francisco, she was more accustomed to being carted around in a stroller. Named Sweet Tomato at the time, she weighed in at a robust 30 pounds, putting her in the running for “most obese” dog at the rescue ever, an employee said.
“It was hard for her to get up,” said Jen Coudron, manager at Muttville. “She was a – we call them potatoes when they’re a little chunky.”
The dog’s senior owner, who fed her a steady diet of bacon and eggs, had fallen ill and could no longer take care of a pet.
So began Sox’s weight-loss journey: a combination of regular exercise, some tender loving care and a dedicated foster to keep her on track.
After about three months, the dog dropped 10 pounds, a whopping third of her body weight. By the time Tull adopted her a few months later, the stroller was long gone.
“Now, the world is her oyster,” Tull said. “She can run and jump. Her life has been given back.”
Things were challenging for Sox, who was not accustomed to her new healthy diet and did not eat for several days. But by day four, she was getting used to her new lifestyle and relishing her meals.
Now at 10 pounds, Sox has attained her weight loss goals and is right where she needs to be.
“I think what she provides is inspiration when you want to quit,” Tull said. “I hope for us that we have a long life together.”
The nonprofit Association of Pet Obesity Prevention reports dogs like Sox are not alone. Its 2022 Pet Obesity Prevalence Study showed nearly 60% of dogs are overweight and obese.

Swipe ⬅️ A couple in have brought a whole new meaning to the phrase "my dog ate my homework" after their pooch, Cecil, devoured $4,000 in cash.
The seven-year-old goldendoodle started to chow down the pile of $100 and $50 notes after his owners, Clayton and Carrie Law, withdrew the cash to reportedly pay gardeners.
Having left the money on the kitchen counter, Mr Law shouted for his wife after it was nabbed by Cecil, who they said had "never really done anything bad before".
"He was shouting, 'Cecil ate $4,000!'" Mrs Law told the Pittsburgh City Paper.
"I ran in, thinking I had to have heard him wrong, but when I saw the mess, there was no doubt," she said.
"I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Cecil had really done it."
The couple then documented the painstaking process of trying to salvage as much of the money as they could, from bits Cecil had either thrown up or had reappeared after being passed through him naturally.💩💵
Mrs Law said they had managed to tape together $3,550 of the cash so far.
"There we are at the utility sink washing this s***** money, yelling 'Yay! Yes! We got one!' It smelled so bad," Mrs Law told the local paper.
Fortunately, the couple were told by the bank that as long as the serial number on the notes was visible, it would take back the chewed money.
"I never thought I'd be able to say I've laundered money, but there is apparently a first time for everything," Mrs Law told The Washington Post.

South Korea’s parliament on Tuesday passed a landmark ban on production and sales of dog meat, as public calls for a prohibition have grown sharply over concerns about animal rights and the country’s international image.
Some angry dog farmers said they plan to challenge the bill’s constitutionality and hold protest rallies, a sign of continued heated debate over the ban.
After a three-year grace period, the bill would make slaughtering, breeding and sales of dog meat for human consumption illegal from 2027 and punishable by 2-3 years in prison. It doesn’t provide any penalties for eating dog meat.
