Hi!! My name is Kalei and I am on a mission to help more dog owners create deep, meaningful, and understanding relationships with their dogs♥️

When I got my first puppy, I had a little bit of a clue on where to start but there was definitely a major case of information overload!! Along with adjusting to life with a four legged land shark😂

Thankfully, I have been able to experience some truly incredible things with my dogs as we learned to navigate the world together. From beautiful desert hikes, to dock diving & frisbee, and raising a beautiful little human child - my dogs have been there through it all. ✨

I credit most of their success to the balanced marker training system. I discovered this training system almost 10years ago now and it has been the backbone of my training program! It has allowed me to develop an incredibly strong communication system with all of my dogs and allowed us to reach our full potentials. 💗

Dog of the Day - Malinois ✨

Meet Icon! The malinois who got me over to the dark side 😂 I am a GSD girly through and through but when this little guy needed a soft place to land, I couldn’t say no. The #1 thing I like more about Mals over GSDs is the more compact, agile frame. They are lighter than the GSD and a bit quicker. My GSDs are all Mals at heart but they are definitely bigger & heavier bless their hearts😂🙈

Are you GSD or Mal? Both? I can happily say I am pro both now✨

I recently stumbled across this page and am fascinated by the wealth of information!! I Absolutely love color genetics and this is so cool to see!😍🌟

A sneak peak of an updated color chart for our website of Anatolian Shepherd colors and patterns. We have been working over the last several months with Kristine of Grey Fin Design to customize this information based on the genes that exist in the Anatolian population. Some genes such as dominant black and merle are not included in this chart because they are not naturally occurring colors or genes for the breed.

We noticed a while ago that a large portion of our website traffic is for more information about Anatolian colors. Over the next few days or weeks we will be updating our website to break down more information about each of these colors to give an explanation of how these genes work by themselves or with other genes.

Please note that this color chart does not correlate to the AKC labelled colors because the AKC labelled colors do not follow known color genetics information.

Dog of the Day - German Shepherd

How could I not start with my favorite!!!

German Shepherds. They stole my heart when I first starting working at the Petsmart Hotel in 2015-16. There was a beautiful, rich black & red long hair GSD named Bentley that would always come in. He was gorgeous, sweet, well mannered & would always walk in a circle when he pooped😂

GSDs were not my #1 childhood dog I always wanted to have sighthounds! Greyhounds, Deerhounds, Irish Wolfhounds. Those were what I dreamed of but Bentley absolutely stole my heart.

Now, GSDs are not a breed that you just fall into… These dogs are highly nuanced and require you to be at the top of your game. Well.. I kinda just fell. 19yr old me went out and bought a puppy (I did know a thing or two thankfully about being somewhat well bred😂 and said no to many puppies before I found the one). I did also try to adopt but was refused for living in an apartment (story for another day!!)

You may think it was all rainbows & butterflies from there but wow - what a journey I started when I got that puppy!! He was the most challenging, smart, strong dog I had ever owned. It was now up to me to research everything I possibly could (even though I had already done so much!!) & to get to the level he needed me to be at.

I did so many things wrong but he was there every step of the way. He taught me so much and opened my eyes up to a whole new incredibly beautiful world I didn’t know existed.

He is why I became a dog trainer, to help other people find their footing in this incredible world that can overwhelm you all while giving you the most beautiful experiences.

I don’t want to gatekeep & say no you shouldn’t get a GSD for xyz reasons. I want to open the door and say “Welcome to GSDs!! Here is a roadmap to help you navigate one of the most incredible dog breeds known to man” ♥️

With the right knowledge, resources , & connections we can help people find their way in GSDs the best way possible. By showing them the way rather than shuning them (which ultimately runs them into backyard breeders) we can save the German Shepherd Breed. There is an incredible community of ethical breeders out there with a wealth of knowledge waiting for more of us to ask them questions and soak up that knowledge⭐️

GSDs are not for the faint of heart but they can be so so good when the knowledge and connections are there. I want to empower more of you to go out and get the dog you want but also have the knowledge to back you up. When things get tough (and they will with any breed), you will have a community of people serving to lift you up & support you. That community will also be there to celebrate your wins and share your excitement too♥️

We fully support but it is so incredibly important to understand and recognize the value in breeders who are preserving breeds. Responsible Breeders who health test, temperament test, screen potential candidates, have contracts in place & do their best to add value rather than backyard breeders who just add dogs to shelters inevitably.

Know the breed before you buy and find a breeder who will provide mentorship & lifelong friendship ♥️ support when you’re looking for a specific type of dog & when you are looking for a dog in need regardless of their unknown history/workability.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying the start of 2024 with their dogs!

I am currently beta-testing an online dog training course and am looking for people who are open to providing feedback on the course at an extremely discounted price! I run a local dog training business that focuses on building confidence in both human and dogs by giving them a communication system to take them wherever they wanna go!
