One of my favourite things about this job is the variety of things I get to do. August has been full of interesting jobs from outriding with Madgwick Carriage Masters, to working with the youngsters at Applemore Sports Horses , clipping for Hampshire Spirit Horse Rescue and caring for or riding all sorts of horses and ponies for their lovely owners, as well as getting to spend a few days with my favourite tiny ponies!

Cracker is an older boy with Cushing's and was struggling in the heat, but he will hopefully feel a lot better now.

Very different than a show ring clip, but clipping for welfare is just as important.

I'm glad I get to work with the lovely team at Hampshire Spirit Horse Rescue to make these ponies feel more comfortable and look their best, such a rewarding job ❤️

Well this might have been one of my most challenging blends yet! This handsome chap is off to the New Forest Show next week and he had had his belly and bum clipped. Due to his colouring the colour change was very clear and such a long line it was quite tricky to make this disappear 😅 hope I've pulled it off!

I can't wait to see photos of him strutting his stuff next week, good luck 🤞🥰

I went to support my sponsored rider this evening at dressage. It was a beautiful test to bring home a 3rd place 🥉 they've been working so hard and it's paying off 💪 well done Elizabeth and Dollar, don't they look smart 😍

I've seen some old and some new faces this week 🐴

I met Ben at Hampshire Spirit Horse Rescue, he is the sweetest old gentleman! Unfortunately as with many oldies this time of year he was struggling with the heat and his thick coat so hopefully he feels a lot better after his haircut

It was lovely to be back on board one of my favourite horses at Madgwick Carriage Masters

And Dream enjoyed his little makeover before his competition, hopefully he's had a successful weekend with Derby Horseball Club

I also squeezed in a visit to Hayden Therapies - Sports Therapy & Remedial Massage Hampshire, thanks for taping me back together...again!

Little update on my sponsored rider, she had her first show of the year this morning and they only went and won the First Ridden 🥇💪 they also had a trip out to dressage with both ponies a few weeks ago, dont they all look fantastic 😍

Exciting news! I am proud to announce I will be sponsoring my favourite little horsewoman for this year. Elizabeth is one of the most dedicated and hardworking riders I know. I have been clipping and trimming her ponies for a few years now and can't wait to see what she can achieve this year with her ponies.

Elizabeth is 8 years old, nearly 9 and has had ponies all her life. When she got Dollar, her Welsh Section A as a 4 year old, he had only been started for 6 weeks and with the help of trainers she has produced him from lead rein to first ridden classes, and is often seen out and about at dressage , usually giving the adults a run for their money and bringing home the frillies! Dollar is now 8 and their goal for next season is to aim for their first Working Hunter classes. They have competed at Windsor and Hickstead on the lead rein and more recently qualified at Prelim level Dressage for the Sunshine tour finals at Hickstead in September.

Dollar has more recently been joined by Junior, an 8 year old 128 BJSA pony who has jumped to a high level as a youngster and has now come to teach Elizabeth the ropes. Her dream is to become an International Showjumper one day.

Little Lion had another haircut this week, I realised I never posted his clip from the end of last year, his owner opted for a full clip now though as he is just so fluffy! He's been behaving himself very well, but he's still very ticklish!

First clip of 2024 and what a transformation for this handsome pony! 😍

Hopefully he now feels much more comfortable when his little rider works him, they look super smart and ready to go out and about this year.

First use of my new Smart Grooming hot oil to give the perfect finish to his coat 😍👌

Liveryman Harmony Plus clippers and Nova trimmers for this little chap. His owner had done a fantastic job getting that coat sparkling clean which means the whole experience is a nicer one for him and much less wear on my machines 👍

Absolutely sparkling clean coat 🧼 makes all the difference to the quality of the clip and the experience for the pony!

Junior was looking very fluffy and getting very hot when working with the milder weather 🥵 hopefully he feels much more comfortable now. Photos to follow!

I met this gorgeous little mare earlier this week, her owner has kindly sent me some photos. She is relatively new to her owners and they weren't sure how she would behave so we took it slow. Well she was a superstar for her full clip, she looks fantastic 😍 it is so lovely to be able to help horses look and feel their best, as well as supporting their owners who want the best for their furry friends. Thank you for presenting me with a lovely clean coat 🫧🧼 and your kind words!

Masterclip Clippers HD Roamers with A2 blades
Liveryman Harmony Plus with range of blades from 2.5mm for the body to 3.5 - 4.5mm for the legs to leave a bit of added protection in the winter.
Liveryman Nova Trimmers for tidying up.

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Oscar the super cob at the weekend. He was booked in for a full clip, including legs and face off, a blended tail and hogged mane. I was warned that in the past he could be tricky to get his legs done, but he behaved himself perfectly. His coat was beautifully clean and left the most gorgeous glow 😍

Machines used;
Masterclip Clippers HD Roamers with medium blades for body and coarse for the mane. Liveryman Harmony Plus for legs and face.
Liveryman Nova trimmers for blending the tail and mane.

Products used Masterclip Clippers HD Roamers for the body and Liveryman Harmony Plus for the face and tickly bits. All with medium blades to leave a gorgeous finish and keep the colour in his coat.

Two clips today, clean coats and fresh blades, what a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon ✂️

Dollar had a full clip with the 3mm blades to leave a beautiful finish, this included blended tail, mane and legs for this smart chap. His little owner said he looked 'snazzy and smart' 😍 best review ever!

Gypsy had an Irish clip with a half head, my first time clipping this lovely mare and she behaved beautifully, hopefully she feels more comfortable now, as well as looking super smart 😊

Machines used Masterclip Clippers HD Roamer clippers for body clipping, Liveryman Harmony Plus clippers for fiddly bits and Nova trimmers for all the blending.

All battery powered so main electricy not necessary.

Horses must be bathed, ideally the day before for best results, a dirty horse will not leave a nice finish and puts strain on the machines, as well as being uncomfortable for the horse.
