‘He’s just such a sweet natured boy we never realised how much pain he was in’.
One month ago, Rios owners made the heartbreaking decision to have a quality of life discussion with us and were considering euthanasia. Options were discussed and they decided to trial a Quality of Life Plan with us.
Today we saw Rio 1 month of commencing treatment, the owners reported that he’s like a ‘brand new puppy again’ and his quality of life has improved a hundred times!
Improvements in his behaviour include:
- Scratching his belly
- Pain in his back legs and spine has decreased significantly (even touching the fur near his spine elicited a pain response before)
- Prancing around and dancing for the owners in the morning
- Rolling around on the carpet (favourite hobby)
- Trotting and running around (which he hasn’t done in months)
- Sitting up and down comfortably and frequently
During the initial consultation, a full 14 point health check is performed and the 4 key aspects of our Quality of Life Plan are discussed in detail.
Rios owners wanted to spread awareness to other owners to let them know that there’s hope for other geriatric dogs.
