Did you know?….Horses under the age of 6 are recommended to have their teeth checked every 6 months. This is because their adult teeth are still coming through causing them to lose their baby teeth (Caps) resulting in them having sharper edges. After 6 years old if there are no clinical abnormalities then a yearly check up is recommended.
Here at Highlands Equine we provide a veterinary dental service. This includes:
- [ ] A thorough examination which if needed can be done under sedation by a veterinarian.
- [ ] Wolf teeth removal
- [ ] Radiography if required
- [ ] The option for on farm visit or can be brought into the clinic. For more information please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

It’s been a busy and exciting week for our lovely client and friend Libby a beautiful ET filly out of Dream by Total Diamond arrived and then today Dream gave us a gorgeous embryo by Bluefields Floreno.

💙🐎 Another gorgeous foal and proud Mummy

Well it’s been a very busy week for the Highlands Equine clinic!
This week we’ve had the privilege of foaling down 3 beautiful mares;

Our first was a lovely chestnut c**t by Camelot Double Impression x Pipersun Voodoo owned and bred by Dana Smith Danella Stock Horses

The second to arrive was a bay filly carried by our beautiful recip mare Phoenix an embryo out of Sweetie by Morricone, bred by Charlotte Mavris / Mavris Performance Horses

The third was a gorgeous bay c**t by Iron out of Irre also bred Charlotte Mavris / Mavris Performance Horses

We also had 2 embryo flushes resulting in 2 embryos the first was:
QS Sierra x Diamond Hit
And the second
Rosabella R x Bluefields Dankeschoen OLD

And finally to top it off both recips that had embryo transfers last week were scanned in foal 🎉🎉

Highlands Equine provides a veterinary dental service.

This includes:
- A thorough examination which if needed can be done under sedation by a veterinarian.
- Wolf teeth removal
- Radiography if required
- The option for on farm visit or can be brought into the clinic

We recommend that younger horse upto roughly 5-6years old get their teeth done every 6 months and then annually.

A few signs that your horse may need their teeth doing:
- Weight loss
- Dropping excessive feed when chewing
- Head tossing and difficulty handling when riding
- Excessive salivation
- Mouth odour
