Liberty Farms of Louisiana Liberty Farms is a small homestead farm breeding Kune Kune pigs and free range chickens. Kunes are very docile, affectionate and easy little pigs.

d’s best friend. When mothers are farrowing and raising their young, they do not usually get aggressive or mind children interacting with their young. It is a wonderful experience for children watching mother's farrow their offspring.

Mabon came to us in the wee hours of the morning on a transport from Wisconsin in the fall of 2016. She left us over the holiday at nine and a half years old.

We always called her Mae Mae or Pig-a-pillar. She was a big girl and her feet disappeared under her chin when she laid flat. She had the sweetest disposition and everyone who met her loved her.

She lives on in our herd though her granddaughter Seraphine, her great granddaughter Nellie, and now Nellie’s piglets, her great great grand piglets. Rest easy sweet Mae Mae.

I am still making some tough decisions on retained yearlings. This is a fantastic opportunity to add a gilt that will be ready to breed soon. I think she looks better and better all the time. Beautiful topline and tail set, with a lovely coat and vibrant ginger coloring. Up on her toes, nice pasturns and thick build. She is always on the move and loves to forage.

LFL Ru AKKPS 35034 Ludwig

Ludwig is a stocky yearling boar with a deep ginger coat. He has a very laid back personality but ready to take care of business with the ladies. He is out of Macon, who is a compact boar that throws piglets that have consistently outgrown him. Ludwig already weighs in at 235. His sire is Nutmeg, one of our largest sows (363 lbs).

If I did not have 4 Ru already, he would be a keeper. He is ready to go to work on your farm! Send us a message to discuss.

Hydration is key when it’s hot outside! 🥵 ☀️ Disclaimer- Gatorade is not recommended for pigs in any large quantities! It has a lot of sodium which can be dangerous to pigs especially if they are dehydrated. Edna was just being super cute! And she had some water right after. If you suspect that your pig is dehydrated or overheated, move them to a shady area with good air flow, offer water, sodium free electrolytes, or fruit with high water content. Never spray cold water on any animal that’s overheated- it can send them into shock.

We did our good deed for the day! Because of all the rain, frogs had decided that the water collected on our pool cover made a good nursery. So we carefully collected as many of the tadpoles as we could catch and moved them out to the pond. They will probably be duck food in the pond. But we did our best! 🤷🏼‍♀️ 🦆 🐸

Boys will be boys. This is what it can look like when you’ve got boars showing off. Seminole, on the left, has been in the breeding pen with his lady and the boar pen was all jealous. Boars release pheromones from glands in their mouth and legs so you will often see boars chomping and frothing or “patty-caking” to spread their scent.
