❄️⛄️🚨 11am update; the snow is slowing down, but a lot of roads are not cleared yet so we have decided to CLOSE both offices today out of abundance of safety concern for our staff and our clients & patients. 🚨⛄️❄️

Little Gunnar was in this week to see Dr. Schneider for his first kitten wellness visit. 😻 He thought the ophthalmascope light was way more fun then toys and treats! 😹🔦

One of our Physical Therapy Technicians, Ami, posted this about her own dog, Mary Jane. We just had to share it! 🩷🐾 "Mary Jane... Our old lady girl. The doggy that got me into Canine Rehabilitation ♥️. She has Osteoarthritis and Hip Dysplasia. So we manage her disease with a multimodal approach. - Daily Pain Coverage - Joint Supplements - Omega 3's - Exercise - Massage Therapy - Weight Management Yes I said disease. Mary Jane's joints are an organ that is in failure. You can see Mary Jane tucks her hips in arching her back, and depends more on her front end. In this video we do some at home exercises: 1st Exercise - Cookie Stretches. Mary Jane weight shifts alot to her front limbs. Her front end gets "over worked." So want to Stretch the front end out, and work on weight compensation. 2nd Exercise - Paw Up . Mary Jane gives me paw. When she does this her back end is getting the work out. You'll see her try to make it easier for herself by sliding her paw away. You will also notice her muscles engaging. 3rd - Sit to Stand - Doggy Squat 💪 - As humans we know squats are not fun. She tries to make it easier by sliding out her one back paw. I place it back in for better engagement. Reminder: Osteoarthritis is not just an old dog thing. Osteoarthritis is a painful life threatening disease."

Cyrus Jones has IVDD (intervertebral disc disease). He attends Physical Therapy Sessions every week at our Manchester office. In this video, Ami is helping him with a figure 8 excercise which helps in multiple ways: ~It helps him bend his body which helps stretch muscles and works on coordination. ~It also encourages weight shifting, which engages and strengthens muscle throughout the body. ~They will change directions throughout this exercise, so it is a full body exercise and can be used for a variety of conditions. 💙🐾💪 Please call our office at (717) 767-0180 to set up a PT consultation with Dr. Owings if you have a pet that could benefit from PT!

Rufus lost both of his eyes last year. As you can see, he can still impress us with his tricks with the help of his Mom's touch and voice. Starting in 2017, every single member of our staff has been certified in Fear Free Practice, which allows us to offer our highest quality medical care while always working to minimize stress and fear during visits. Doing our best to provide a Fear Free experience for our patients is central to our mission to protect their emotional health as well as their physical well-being. Shiloh Veterinary Hospital also has a second location in the Manchester area. This location opened in February of 2008. Both hospitals are open 6 days a week.
