**Update on Leila the pig**

We have had an overwhelming response from people wishing to adopt Leila since we made a post about her yesterday.

Keeping up with msgs takes time, esp considering that we are the middleman so to speak, as Leila isn't with us. Therefore we need to pass all info onto her current owner, and once she has decided on the best home, arrange sedation with a vet, numerous people to carry her, a van to transport her etc.

These things take time, so please bear with us. Moreover, we also know of other pigs looking for a home, so will try to take this opportunity to arrange as many piggy adoptions as we can.

Thank you for your patience and understanding and we will keep you all updated 🙏

**URGENT!!!!**

Leila the pig is in desperate need of a new home ASAP. Her owner can no longer care for her due to a serious back injury.

Leila is spayed, chipped and used to humans. We will organise transportation to get her to you.

Those interested in adopting Leila must have a suitable space which is secure, sheltered and with soil.

Please contact us if you can offer this sweet pig the loving home she deserves.

THANK YOU!!!

Send us a msg if you are interested in adopting any of these sweet rabbits 🩷🏡

The reports of dumped rabbits continues, and as a result, last weekend was a busy one for us.

Pic 1 - Sakura. A rabbit found by chance by one of the Sunshine members in a field in Santa Lucija. Unfortunately Sakura was in a horrific state, and despite our best efforts to save her, died a painful death having been neglected for so long 😔

Pic 2 - Dante. Found near a school in Birkikara. He has a bad case of earmites and the start of mange which he's been treated for.

Pics 3&4 - Vincent&Mary Hoppins. Two rabbits found roaming in the grounds of San Vincenz. Vincent seems very healthy and M.Hoppins has signs of mange and ear mites and has been treated accordingly.

We currently have 5 large breed rabbits for adoption. Please get in touch if you can offer any of them a loving home 🏡

Jack and Jill are still searching for their forever home! They are both neutered and bonded so must be homed together 🏡

Send us a msg if you wish to adopt them, or even foster as we are still taking in a large number of rabbits even though we don't have our own premises.

Thank you! 🩷🙏🏼💙

This is a bit of a mixed post, but all for the animals as always.

Firstly, there are 2 ducks in a shipyard who have appeared amongst a cat colony. First there were 5, and now there are 2, and it has been confirmed that 3 were caught and eaten. Therefore, better if these remaining 2 ducks are taken to a safe place. Can anyone adopt them?

Secondly, this little bunny, Chestnut, is 5 months old and is looking for his new forever home. Would anyone like to adopt him?

Please get in touch.

Thanks!

We are being inundated with emails and messages from people asking if they can volunteer with us. Please be aware that we NO LONGER have a premises and the only animals we are taking in are rabbits to our OWN homes. Therefore we CANNOT offer any voluntary work.

Thank you for your understanding 🙏

Meet Carrot! 🥕

Carrot is a sweet-natured, cuddly male bunny who was saved from a farm. He is booked in for neutering next week and will be ready for adoption shortly after.

Can you give Carrot the loving home he deserves? 🏡

If so, please get in touch.

Thank you! 🧡

We may not have a physical place to call a sanctuary, however the rescues haven't stopped from our end!

A few days ago we took in a severely bloated and gassy rabbit whom we have called Berta. She unfortunately passed away the following morning 😞💔

In the meantime we also took in 4 dwarves from a woman who no longer wanted to keep them. They are 4 girls, all healthy, and 3 of them are being booked in for spaying [the 4th one is still a baby, so we can't get her spayed now]. We have named them Ariel, Pocahontas, Belle & Mulan. They are available for adoption.

And finally, yesterday evening we took in a disabled rabbit, which we have named Bettina. She has no movements in her legs, but so far is eating, pooping and seems overall fine. A vet visit on Saturday will be scheduled to get a better understanding on her overall health.

We currently have 4 sick rabbits under our care which are under daily medication. Adding the vet visits, neutering expenses and costs of food, the bills keep piling up. If anyone wishes to help with the costs, you can do so through the below means:

Remember the Hal-Farrug street pigs? Well the last 2 have finally been homed having been in government quarantine for 2 years. Sometimes patience, determination and not losing hope can really pay off.

Thank you to everyone who made this happen. We are so glad these beautiful pigs are in the most wonderful homes living their best life! ❤️

Meet Truffle!

Truffle is an adorable female lionhead bunny who was found roaming outside. We are guessing she was someone's pet, as she is extremely friendly, sweet and cuddly and has no problem being picked up.

Can you give Truffle the forever home she deserves? Adopter must agree to have her spayed (we will cover the costs) and NOT keep her in a cage.

Thank you! 🙏🏼🤎

New rescues Jasper and Carrot were saved from a rabbit farm. They had been living in a small cage for 4 years and used solely for breeding purposes. We've treated them for earmites and will arrange for neutering soon.

Please get in touch if you're interested in offering Jasper or Carrot a loving home.

Thank you 🧡🖤

Two female bunnies for adoption 🤍🤎

Preferably to be homed together. Very sweet and friendly. Whoever adopts must agree to spay them or adopt once we have arranged this. Costs will be covered.

Thank you Chiara Vassallo for catching these 2 and one other from the hostile environment they were in, and for helping so many other dumped rabbits across Malta. You are a 🌟!

Over the last few days we have taken in yet more rabbits, despite our houses being full.

Sally was picked up by a woman who was taking care of her for the last few weeks and has now handed her over to us. She has horrible ear mites and has splayed legs. She will be seen by the vet this morning

Ben was rescued by us yesterday evening from the roads in San Gwann. He has ear mites and fleas, but otherwise seems to be healthy. He will be booked for neutering soon.

Please, if you can foster or adopt get in touch. We are receiving daily messages on dumped rabbits, but our space is limited and we are full.

We are still accepting donations, whether monetary or food donations, to help us keep taking care of all the rescues we have. Please get in touch if you can help.

Another day... which means another rabbit rescue.

Today we were informed of a rabbit roaming in a field in Zejtun. We went to have a look and although the area was pretty big, we were lucky enough to manage to spot her and catch her. Thank you to Dan Jela & Chris Debono for their help 🙏

We have named her Dhalia

*TW – Pictures of dead rabbits in below post*

Yesterday we were notified of a couple of rabbits roaming around in Zurrieq.

Thankfully, someone managed to go and have a look in the area and managed to locate one of them, who is now safe with us. He seems to be in good health, free from mites and fleas and is eating and pooping fine. He is absolutely petrified and is only moving around to eat and go into his litter.. hopefully by time he will get to trust us more. We have named him Dexter.

Unfortunately, while Dexter was “lucky” enough to end up in our care, not the same can be said about the rest of the rabbits in the area. There were about 15 dead rabbits, all in different stages of decomposition. Rabbits likely used for breeding and dumped like trash once they were no longer profitable. There is also a dog roaming in the area, who might have been chasing and killing them. We do not blame the dog of course, but the irresponsible person who lets the dog out and about.

This is a very common scene unfortunately, as we have received various reports in the past of dumping areas where people will discard of their rabbits.

18/12/2024

As we have mentioned in previous posts, although we had to relocate our current animals which were held at Inspire grounds, we are still actively rescuing and trying to re-home animals, mainly rabbits.

The below are some of the rescues which we have taken in during the past few months. We are keeping them in our private residents, and doing our best to rescue as many as we can. You can read their description and stories underneath every picture.

Our space however is limited, and we are full. We know of plenty more rabbits who require rescuing, however unless we find fosterers or adopters, we will be unable to keep rescuing more.

Please get in touch if you can help us in fostering or adopting any of these babies 🙏
