Just to inform you all that due to our current circumstances, we are not accepting any volunteers. We are also not in a position to take in any animals.

However, should anyone know of any animals who are in desperate need of help, send us a message and we will do our best to provide assistance.

In the meantime, we will keep you updated on Sunshine's situation and whether a solution is found to keep it running. We will see.

Thank you πŸ™πŸ’›

Meet yesterday's rescue, a sweet and friendly female bunny found close to the dog park in San Gwann.

Fortunately she was reported and then picked up by someone who kept her safe last night and brought her to us this morning.

She is very healthy; no ear mites or fleas and is a healthy weight. She's eating and drinking well and is getting along with one of our members rabbits, Toy, which we are really happy about. If this continues, our member will adopt her πŸ’—

Should anyone be in a position to help us foster any rabbits, please get in touch as there are so many dumped bunnies out there but not enough space now that we've left Inspire premises for good.

Thank you πŸ™πŸΌ 🐰

We have been receiving messages about rabbits being dumped daily, and unfortunately, now that we had to relocate our animals, we no longer have a rescue centre, and all our rescues are being placed in our private residents.

We are full and desperately need fosterers, as we just received another message about yet another 2 rabbits being dumped.

Can anyone please help?

Today was a busy yet somewhat emotional day for us at Sunshine. We took our final two residents, Trixiebell and Sergeant to a new temporary home. We will miss them greatly πŸ’—

We would like to thank Dr Katherine from Animal Kingdom Veterinary Clinic Malta for sedating our piggies as well as giving them a tusk/hoof trim and health check. We really appreciate your time and professionalism, as always πŸ™πŸΌ

We would also like to thank the kind-hearted individual who offered them a wonderful space fillled with trees and soil. Our minds are at rest knowing they are in such good hands πŸ½πŸ™πŸΌπŸ½

We love you Trixie and Sergeant and wish you lots of happiness, our sweet babies.

In the meantime, we will keep searching for a new premises, in the hope that somehow, we manage...watch this space and keep your fingers crossed for us.

Thank you everyone for your continued support πŸ™πŸΌ

On World Vegan Day we encourage you to see animals for who they truly are.

They are not nuggets, sausages, burgers, steaks, nor bacon. Their wings, breasts, ribs, legs, thighs nor cheeks are something which should ever be cut from their bodies and consumed.

They are individual sentient beings who wish to live a life free from suffering and death, so let's respect their right to live.

Be kind, be vegan 🌱🐾❀

*TW* - Animal death

As most of you know, we are currently in the process of vacating our current premises and relocating our animals. Having said that, although we no longer have a land for our rescues, we are still taking in a small amount of rabbits, which we are keeping in our private residences.

This week we took in Harry, a young male dwarf who is ridden with mange. He is still young, around 4-5 months old and he is currently under medication. In the same area where he was caught was another dead dwarf and apparently there is another living one roaming the area, which we so far have not managed to see.

We hate posting images like the below, however we feel it's important to show the reality of how many rabbits are being dumped on a regular basis.

We would also like to emphasize on this "idea" or mentality that most people seem to have, whereby they believe that a sick rabbit will magically get cured by leaving him in a field, which is obviously utter rubbish.

A sick rabbit needs MEDICINE and attention. Even under our current circumstances, if you should spot an abandoned rabbit, please get in touch and we will assist you in the best possible way.

Dear Chip and Dale πŸ‘πŸ’™πŸ‘

You were saved from becoming Easter lunch back in March and had been with us since then.

We saw you grow and became oh so fond of you both, the way you jumped and skipped with joy and were more desperate to get food than the pigs (growing lads!)🀣

Now you are with our dear friend who will take good care of you until we hopefully find a new place for our beloved sanctuary πŸ™πŸΌ

This kind-hearted individual has also taken four of our rescue rabbits, Brenda, Holly, Bradley and Cooper, 3 of whom have health conditions that are not (if at all) easy to treat. We cannot express our gratitude enough

πŸ‡πŸ‡πŸ’–πŸ‡πŸ‡

As we continue to find permanent/temporary homes for the rest of our animals, all we can do is hope somehow everything will work out.

Thank you for your continued support, and should anyone know of available land in the south, please send us a message ###

It is high time we gave you all an update on what has been happening/what will happen to our beloved Sunshine Sanctuary, considering the fact we have to vacate Inspire by the end of this month.

In a nutshell, we have been searching for a piece of government land to relocate to since April. We made a formal, detailed 34-page proposal for a potential premises and submitted it to the Lands Authority (see images to get an idea)

It turned out that this land was not available, and Lands told us to find an alternative piece. We have been informed of an alternative location which we will be viewing soon. All we can do is hope it's suitable and that we can acquire it somehow.

In the meantime, our two lambs, Chip and Dale, and two pigs, Trixiebell and Sergeant, will be going to temporary homes which we have managed to arrange. The remaining rabbits will also be homed, including the sick ones who have untreatable conditions thanks to a kind individual who has offered to adopt them. Gladys and Russell were homed last weekend.

The future of Sunshine is still very much uncertain, but we will keep pushing for a new premises so we can continue taking in farm animals who have no place else to go.

Thank you everyone for your continued support and we hope somehow everything will work out πŸ€žβ˜€οΈπŸ©·

Not sure if you remember the piglets who were born at our sanctuary 18 months ago?

We had taken in 3 females who were all pregnant, so it was pig city for a while!

Here is an update sent to us today of two of them living their best life πŸ’—πŸ™‚πŸ’—

These are the rescue rabbits we currently have at the sanctuary (and another few rabbits which we are helping to re-home)😊

Please note that we try to get the rabbits neutered prior to adoption, however the waiting period is long, therefore we can re-home rabbits prior to neutering, as long as the new owner agrees to neuter the bunny. We will help to cover the neutering cost.

Please also appreciate the fact that most of the rabbits have been either dumped or abandoned, and therefore may require some time and patience until they start to fully trust.

Underneath each picture is a description of each rabbit. Please get in touch if you're interested to adopt

**UPDATE**

*** Yesterday we received an email from Alicia Bugeja Said saying that a meeting had been held and that a potential site had been found with the scope of our relocation. We are waiting for the call giving us details. All we can do now is hope that this materialises into something positive. Watch this space...
πŸ™πŸΌπŸ€žπŸΌπŸ’› ***

We have not posted any updates regarding the relocation of our animals for a reason.

We were promised a piece of governmental land and were assured that everything was being done in order to start the process to securing the land to our name and potentially start building and constructing on it.

Unfortunately, here in Malta things are never as easy as they appear to be. In the construction industry, greed has taken over and whilst we keep building and constructing, nobody has a care for unwanted rescue animals.

Last weekend, we received the devastating news that the land we'd been promised was no longer available to us.

With a little over a month before we have to leave our current premises, Inspire, we are back at square one, with no place, no hope and no future for Sunshine. We are forced to have to rehome all of our resident animals and rescues (which will be a feat in itself, given that some animals have been in our care for months on end and are difficult to rehome).

Sunshine will have to come to an end. With no place, we have nowhere to keep potential future rescue animals. We are deeply disappointed as we dare not think what will happen to future abandoned farm animals.

Since the government help so far has presented us with no viable options, we are making a final appeal before we will really have to shut down Sunshine for good.

If anyone has a solution, be it a potential unused place which we can rent, please get in touch. This place will be used for our resident and future rescue animals.

Thank you πŸ™πŸΌπŸ’›

Please help us find a home for this sweet couple, Russell and Gladys, by liking and sharing this post.

Both of them are chipped and neutered.

With only 6 weeks to go before we have to leave our current premises, it is vital we start homing our current animals.

Thank you πŸ–πŸ™πŸΌπŸ–

We would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Michela Debono for fostering and then deciding to adopt sweet Nelly πŸ’œ

Michela sent us this message this morning:

'Her wound has completely healed. It took a couple of months, two vets and lots of patience. The vets told me how difficult it was for her to heal but we made it'🀞

We are so happy to receive updates like this! Thank you to everyone who gives animals like Nelly a second chance in life.

If anyone is interested in fostering or adopting from us, please get in touch! We have lots of sweet rabbits waiting for someone to give them the wonderful life they deserve πŸ™πŸΌπŸ‡πŸ’›
