Poor Gigi. The pics are not Gigi eating. This is Gigi sleeping with her head in her dish. Gigi went to the vet today because she has been vomiting. She had to have blood taken and she squirmed so much the vet had to sedate her to get her blood drawn. This is her back home still having the effects of the sedation. Poor baby. Maybe next time she will cooperate with the vet, lol. The good news is the lab tests are all normal. Her vomiting might be a food sensitivity she may have developed recently so we will need to try a diet change.

Six years ago we brought Gigi home from the humane society. We had seen Gigi a couple of times before the big day but quiet honestly we were not sure about the kind of care she would need so we kept looking. We found a bonded pair that we were going to adopt instead. The day we went to pick them up we kept gravitating towards Gigi’s cage. While we were standing around to get help from one of the employees we saw a lady with a young child start to take pictures of Gigi. We both started worrying that Gigi would not do well in a house with children because we had a private visit with Gigi and knew how confused she was and at that time was blind and unsteady on her feet. As soon the the lady and child walked away and we saw that they weren’t inquiring about Gigi we immediately decided to get Gigi instead of the bonded pair. We arrived with 2 cat carriers but left with one kitty. I made sure to look in on the bounded pair and they got adopted very quickly by someone. The first month with Gigi wasn’t easy. She got an upper respiratory infection that lasted for weeks and she lost a lot of weight. Because of her major trauma she had a hard time fighting the infection. I took her for nebulization treatments at the vets a few times a week because our bathroom shower steam and humidifier wasn’t helping. We had to force feed her because she was wasting away. We would even get up in the middle of the night caring for her. Once she finally got better there was no stopping her. She is the biggest lap cat ever. She has a hard time with play but the one game she does love is to attack the feet. She attacks the feet and then will start rolling around on the floor looking all cute and innocent. She likes a quiet house at bedtime so she will get in my face yelling and telling me it’s bedtime just so I will turn off the TV and turn out the lights and then she goes in her cave. She is quite bossy about everything. She loves to greet anyone who comes to the door. She likes to bite bare skin. She doesn’t do it out of meanness it’s just a compulsion she has. Every morning she helps me make the bed while giving me orders the whole time, lol. She is obsessed with human dad. She’s a talker and thinks she rules the house. This cat has so much personality. We know we spoil her rotten but who cares, lol.

It’s someone’s birthday! We don’t know the actual date of Gigi’s birth but 6 years ago today she was brought into The Humane Society of Southwest Washington with life threatening injuries. The wonderful staff (her angels) saved her even though her injuries were severe and her survival wasn’t looking good. We will be forever grateful to everyone involved in her recovery. The humane society staff holds a special place in our hearts. Her age was estimated as 2 years old back then. Since she begain a whole new life on January 29, 2017 we decided January 29th would be her new birth date and to include her previous 2 years of life. Happy 8th Birthday Gigi. We love you.

Gigi had her vet visit today. She thought the safest spot in the exam room was under the stool since she could not get back in her carrier. She was pawing at her closed carrier. Cats hate their carrier at home but love their carrier at the vet’s, lol. Vitals were good and blood panel results were also good. As far as her jolts and twitches it is difficult to diagnose. We all agreed we don’t want Gigi medicated when she is doing so well besides the jolts. Even though she doesn’t have a vit deficiency the vet thought we should try a vit b supplement in her food since low vit b can sometimes cause twitches and it wouldn’t hurt to add a cat supplement to her food. There are so many things that can cause these jolts. The vet told us sound and light can also trigger them in some cats but it could also be a side effect of Gigi’s head injury. Gigi’s eyes are watery in the pic, we think she is allergic to dogs, lol, because they always get watery at the vets. Gigi had a busy day and is now resting.

This little girl is going to the vet this coming Friday. She has been getting little jolts through her body a few times a day. Mini seizures? We don’t know if it has anything to do with head trauma history. She seems fine most of the time and is eating well and interacting with us in her normal way. Friday was the soonest our vet could see her. All the vets in our area have long waiting times and her vet knows her history. We scheduled 2 weeks ago. Send good thoughts Gigi’s way.
