Another set of Shouhegan Kennel Club all-breed shows are in the books. Congratulations to all the winners, especially the two breeder-owner-handled BIS winners. Before I turn in for the night, as I have a zero-dark-thirty trip to Logan tomorrow AM, I want to thank all our exhibitors for their continued support, our hard-working stewards, the tireless members of the show committee–Jim Williams, Donna Swanson, Steve Spicer, Linda Michael, and Angela Ferrari. Yes, you need judges to judge the dogs but without exhibitors who enter dogs for them to judge and the behind-the-scenes crew, the show wouldn't happen. You are the glue that keeps these shows alive and, as one exhibitor commented to me, makes them "the happy " shows.

Putting it together all the tents are up. Lawn is mowed. Port-a-potties and rings will be delivered Friday. A day of rest ha ha between set up days.

40 X 40 X 16H Whelping Box. ( I am NOT retiring, I just don’t plan to ever do 3 litters at once again and want the extra space 😂🐾🐾 ). Great box with pig rails and a removable thick plexiglass floor you can use, or not. I never did. $50 cash or best offer 😁

One week till the closing of entries for our 2024 shows on September 7 & 8 at the Nashua Community College, 505 Amherst Street, Nashua, NH 03063. There is a 4-6 Month Puppy Competition on both days and a P*e Wee event on Saturday. FMI here is a link to the Premium List.

A reminder that Wednesday, August 23, 2023, entries for the Souhegan Kennel Club, Inc. shows on September 9-10, 2023, will be closing at 12:00 noon EDT. The shows are located in Nashua, NH less than ten miles from the Massachusetts border at the Nashua Community College. There is abundant free parking, limited reserved, and RV parking. We have a grooming tent available for exhibitor use. There is free coffee, tea, and breakfast bites each morning along with tea, lemonade, and cookies during the groups. We offer relaxed, friendly shows with an old fashion dog show flavor. Hope that many of you will join us and if you have questions you can email [email protected]. I will be stewarding in Springfield from this Thursday through Sunday for those of you that have not sent your reserved parking or RV reservations yet. I'll have a supply of the forms on hand.

NH folks please share to NH dog groups

Adopting a dog from a rescue

Be aware the dog MUST come with a veterinarian issued health certificate unless the dog comes from a NH licensed shelter (nh licensed shelters are exempt from health certificates)

If dog crosses the state line to get to you it must come with a veterinarian issued health certificate

If dog crosses state line to get to a nh licensed rescue before it comes to you it must be quarantined briefly and have a new health certificate issued by a NH state licensed vet

A health certificate must be issued by a licensed veterinarian with clear contact info on it. The health certificate must state that the pet is FREE OF communicable diseases AND internal and external parasites.

If your puppy breaks with a contagious illness or internal parasites within a week of adoption you need to notify both the rescue group and the NH state veterinarian

Rescue groups that are finalizing adoptions in NH must be licensed by the state of NH

The 2022 Souhegan Kennel Club shows are a warp! Many thanks to the club members who gave of their time to make the shows a success, our judges, and especially to our exhibitors who continue to support us year after year. Look forward to seeing you in 2023 and congratulations to all the winners!

An email will be the only notification you will receive. Jamie Gendron and Big Al's is the new food vendor at our shows, as the Main Dish's business fell victim to the COVID economy. Jamie will be on site with hamburgers, hot dogs, two varieties of Italian sausage, as well as serving coffee and breakfast sandwiches in the morning. He's bring his fresh lemonade cart as well. I'm making a personal endorsement for the sweet Italian sausage.
