Aeysha gave us a real scare yesterday😔
I couldn’t see Aeysha in the paddock after coming home from work — the gully with all the shrubs often hides them, but something didn’t feel right.
Then we heard it — a faint nicker from deep in the gully. There she was. Tangled in vines and branches, sinking into a muddy puddle. With superficial wounds and clear signs of hypothermia. She must’ve been there for more than half a day. When I saw the steep, rough path she must’ve come down, I was sure she’d broken something. It looked like a horse fight had pushed her down — no way she’d go there on her own.
Her back legs were completely entangled in branches, no chance of her getting herself out. I spotted a potential path forward we got a saw and started clearing the way, bit by bit, cutting through vines and branches. When we finally had a path open, I tried to move her — but she wouldn’t budge. I got her halter and some hard feed, came back, and gently encouraged her. She hesitated… then jumped forward — wobbly and weak, but she made it out. Honestly, I thought she might collapse halfway through💔. When she was out I could see a very lame back leg and a split lip, she could barely walk. I gently brought her up to the house, gave her a warm rinse to get the mud off and check for hidden wounds, treated what we found, wrapped her in a cosy rug, and gave her some bute and plenty of food, poor girl was starving.
The vet confirmed we’d done all we could for now. We settled her into a grassy paddock so she wouldn’t have to navigate more mud, gave her a warm feed, and plenty of roughage.
She’s safe, but what a shock. 😢💔
Please send healing thoughts to our beautiful Aeysha — she’s had a rough day but she’s a fighter. 💪🐴❤️
And in all that we had actually found a new home for her however after last nights event I’ve come to the conclusion I can’t see her go to someone else she’s family. She’s more valuable than any money
