Welcome 2 new Danes to GDFRL! Both cam to us as owner surrenders because they couldn't take care of them. Soka, the fawn merle is a 1 yr old female and is settling in to her foster home and doing well..a little nervous but learning to settle and play with her foster brother. Harley is a 15 month old male. He has LOTS of puppy energy but is settling in nicely. He needs some training to help his puppy impulse control but he is a sweet boy who is great with other dogs and cats. Both are house and crate trained. Stay tuned as they decompress and settle and we learn more about them! A fenced yard will be required. Soka is in Apex NC and Harley is being fostered in Charlotte NC. If interested in adopting you can email us at [email protected]. *** Both will not be available until January. They need to decompress and then that will put us into the holidays. We do not do adoptions in December because that is too stressful of a time with travel and visitors to let a new dog settle into a new home :)

We have foster fail number 2 today as well! Olive came to us from a local shelter where they said she was a Dane mix. She looked Daney in her pictures and even in person but she was on the small side for her estimated age of 6 months. Foster mom did a DNA test and you can see the results. Not one bit of Dane but 6 different kinds of Mastiff...so it's pretty safe to say she's a mastiff mix! 🤣 And what is REALLY sweet...she has bonded to the senior female in the home who had started to have seizures and ever since she arrived..her senior bestie has not had. one seizure!

Our sweet boy Arthur has been adopted! He came to us super skinny and then got pneumonia. He is 100% healthy now and has been neutered so his foster mom decided he was home! Have a GREAT life sweet boy...you have the bestest mom!!

Our older set of puppies are growing like weeds too! They are about 10 weeks old now. Poppy is our smallest ay 7.1 lbs, then Linus at 9 lbs., Sadie 11.7, Marley 11.8 and Lucy is our chunk at 14.6 :). We think mama is a Dane but they must have different daddies! Marley and Lucy are very much Dane but the others have much smaller heads and little ears. All are doing great in their foster homes and are learning lots from the other dogs. Lucy is wide open. She gallops from toy to toy or after the adult dogs with joyful abandon. Everything is a chew toy, including Linus, whether he wants to be or not. Linus is much more reserved than Lucy. Happily plays by himself. He is a snuggler. Watches the larger dogs with interest but engages less often. Poppy is gentle and loves to cuddle but also gets bursts of energy and likes to chase leaves! We will update more as they grow and get older! They will be available for adoption in January. Poppy is being fostered in Asheboro, Marley in Concord NC, Sadie in Anderson SC and Linus and Lucy in Mt Airy NC. A fenced yard will be required.

Good news!!! Chauncey's mass taken off his foot was benign!!! They got clear margins and he is healing great! :)

Sweet, soulful Juniper is a beautiful mix of curiosity and heart. Rescued from a shelter in September, this lovely girl (estimated to be around 2–5 years old) has blossomed in her foster home and is ready to find her forever family.

Juniper is still learning that the world is a safe place, so she’ll need a patient, loving owner who can help her continue to build her confidence. Once she warms up, she’s incredibly affectionate — a total snuggle bug who adores her humans.

She’s happiest with another friendly dog by her side to show her the ropes and loves wrestling and cuddling with her foster siblings. Juniper has been great around kids of all ages, though she’d thrive best in a quieter home without lots of constant noise or activity.
