Just to update everyone… a volunteer went and spoke with some employees at Petland yesterday. They told her that their “associate” vet took the puppy home with him the night he was brought back and started treatment at his house. And here is a video of the puppy yesterday. He appears to have made a full recovery. Questions we have…
1. Is it standard practice for a business to have a private vet take a puppy to their residence ?
2. We are really baffled but truly VERY happy, about how a puppy who at one vet was recommending hospitalization was fine in less than 24 hrs.
3. After we shared the video Petland posted yesterday questioning why the little girl said she named him Blue when he was admitted to the first vet as Otis, the video they sent yesterday has the person filming telling the little girl they need a video of her calling him Otis.
It all doesn’t sit right with us and pet stores should not exist in this day or time when SO many dogs are dying in shelters because there aren’t enough homes. We will never support this type of business and hope you don’t either.
What we are grateful for is the puppy has survived and from the video has made a full recovery. Petland of course will not sell him to the rescue and we can only hope when they do put him back up for sale he gets a good home that can afford him and his care should anything else happen❤️❤️❤️
Reports were made to the Dept of AG… we can only hope they investigate.
Wishing you and yours a VERY Happy New year! Thank you for all your support and helping our Danes! We have an update on our new boy Campbell! If you remember he was an owner surrender and was surrendered about 40 lbs underweight and covered in sores and full of parasites. Well he is doing GREAT! What we know so far... he is an absolute angel! He is completely potty trained, crate trained, and non destructive. He loves to be on the couch or in the bed, and actively gives kisses. He is great with dogs of all sizes. His only flaw thus far is he tries to eat the other dog’s food in his foster home so he is feed in his crate. His foster has only walked him on a leash once because she had been nervous about 3 of his toenails missing and occasionally bleeding, but when she did, he was terrible. 🤣 He walked her so leash work is in this boy's future! He has a lot of weight to gain so we are working on incrementally increasing his food intake each day, to healthily allow him to pack on some pounds. Campbell is an absolute lover and deserves the best life.
Who's is happy it's Friday? Braxton sure is!!
Our 2 new arrivals had a good first night and got to sleep INSIDE probably for the first time ever! They each got 3 baths to get rid of all the fleas! They met the resident dogs this morning and intros went great! It will still be awhile before they are ready but they are off to a great start! They are anemic from the fleas and worms and both have skin infections but by some miracle they were heartworm negative!! The little black fluff will be going to Ruff Love Rescue on Friday and will be available for adoption through them when ready.
What happens to a dog in the first few days after they are taken out of a shelter or a dangerous situation and placed with a Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love foster family? Well, first, they quickly discover they are safe. Then.....
