Meet Ruby and Biscuit! These girls were surrendered to a local shelter at 10m months of age. They are about 20 lbs underweight, filthy and scared to death! Well all that has changed. They are both in foster homes where they are now clean and being fed and getting lots of love. They can be shy meeting new people but once they know you are ok they are the sweetest cuddle bugs and freely give kisses and leans! They have been great with the other dogs in their foster homes too. Stay tuned for better pics and more updates as these 2 girls blossom!

Please allow me to introduce myself My name is Inky. I am an approximately 4-month-old pup that was found as a stray and was in a shelter for a few days until GDFRL sprung me out and took me in. I am grateful to be off the streets and in a warm and loving home with my foster parents! Since my arrival I am learning to do my business outside and have become comfortable with my crate. When I'm ready to spend time in my crate, I walk right in and sit down and wait for my treat. I have also learned to sit since food and love often follows! I love my new sweater that keeps me warm and all my new toys to play with and exercise my mind. I have tons of energy and love to run around with my new ball and Kong. I'm still learning to choose to use my mouth for good but I mean well and just want to play. I feel so much better with a family - my appetite is back! My foster home has two cats, whom I love very much, but I'm learning now to not invade their personal space too quickly. I am curious towards them, but never aggressive. I'm still learning to walk on a leash, but I have zoomies in the back yard down pat. I really enjoy being around people, and my foster family tells me I'm a true Velcro Dane. I would love to find a family that has another dog, so I have a companion to play with and to learn from. I have all the potential to become an amazing member of the right family that can help me learn and I promise to look adorable with my puppy eyes while that happens.

Meet Indy, an 8-month-old Great Dane with a striking and unique silver coat that’s sure to turn heads wherever she goes! This sweet girl is playful, snuggly, and full of love. Indy absolutely adores other dogs and loves to run and play with them, making her the perfect companion for a household with other furry friends. She's learning to walk politely on a leash, sleeps in a crate at night, and is almost housebroken. She came to us in need of groceries and is currently 74lbs but still on the thin side.

While she might need a little time to warm up to new people, once she feels comfortable, Indy will be a loyal cuddle buddy. In fact, she’s so affectionate that she’ll happily flop right on top of you - or another dog - for a cozy snuggle session. Helloooo World! Let me introduce myself - my name is AUGGIE, short for Augustus, but Foster Mom says that is way too formal for me. My previous owner surrendered me to an animal shelter, but thank goodness Great Dane Friends came and got me out of there. I am about 18 mths old, but I have the small stature and puppy face that will keep me looking young forever - your very own perpetual puppy. I am a smart boy, who does know a few things, but Foster Mom says I have more to learn. I am the bestest boy at sitting and I always throw in a bonus paw shake when my butt hits the floor. Sometimes my paw shaking enthusiasm almost throws me off balance. I am learning to Wait for my food dish and it so HARD when the food looks so good. I can’t stop the drool and Foster Mom laughs because I usually get two matching drool bubbles on either side of my mouth while I wait - just release me lady so I can EAT! And another Auggie bonus - I am very neat and always wipe my face after a good meal but for some reason using the couch as a napkin gets me in trouble - jeez, so many rules! Foster Mom says I need some practice walking on leash and just being a little braver out in the world. I am curious about other dogs and sometimes my enthusiasm gets a little loud when we are out and about. I’m a fairly vocal guy and an awesome singer aka howler, so I just can’t stop myself from being verbal. When I play with my foster sister, who is half my size and very sassy, we get fairly loud trash talking with each other. Did I mention what an awesome snuggler I am? Please do provide me with a pillow and soft blanket or I will just have to take yours - sorry a puppy’s gotta do, what I gotta do to stay comfy. I have gotten a little snarky when I’m trying to snuggle with Foster Mom and my Foster Sis comes up, so I am having to work on sharing or she says no more snuggles for me - UGH, so much to learn! I am crate trained but have my own room right now because my happy tail had to heal. Foster Mom says I am about 75% housetrained. I’m really good about letting you know I have to go, but if you aren’t around sometimes a boy just can’t hold it. I promise I’m working on that. After almost 1 year with us our sweet, cuddly, energetic, handsome boy, GUS was adopted yesterday!!! He has the perfect family with 2 new fur sisters and even some goat friends in his new home! He is settling in great and we couldn't be happier for him!!!

Our sweet girl Freya has been adopted! She came to us as a owner surrender in November and before she could get spayed she went into heat so that delayed her adoption a bit. She also had to have her cherry eye fixed. A previous adopter saw her and fell in love and came all the way from TX to adopt this sweet girl! She is already bonding with her Wolfhound brother and we couldn't be happier for this sweet girl!! Have a great life sweet girl!

Welcome Indy! Indy is a 8 month old owner surrender. Her senior owner was gifted her and when her husband passed couldn't take care of her by herself. She is a super sweet girl that has been great with other dogs. She is crate trained and about 90% house trained. Indy does have 1 family in line to meet her when ready but if it doesn't work then she will be available for adoption. She is fostered in Raleigh NC.

Welcome Izzy! Izzy was found wandering the streets Christmas Eve. No owner was found and she ended up at a local shelter. She appears to be about 4-5 yrs old and previously had pups. She is a SUPER sweet velcro girl that would crawl inside of you to get close if she could! She gives the sweetest little nibbles and kisses too! She has been great in the house and with the 2 resident senior smaller dogs. She is OK with the cat in her foster home as well. She is house trained and trustworthy in the house. She is scheduled to be spayed soon and once she heals will be available for adoption. She is being fostered in Concord NC. If interested in adopting you can send us a email to [email protected]

So...I want to begin by saying we do not support bashing vets. We know they have a hard job and can be overwhelmed. BUT... when there is a case of BOLD NEGLECT we cannot let that go. We just got the admit sheet from Points East Vet, https://pointseastvsh.com/. These notes are from when Petra was admitted on MONDAY ... they suspected pneumonia on MONDAY and did nothing...not even a chest x ray and t was NEVER mentioned to us or anyone involved with her care. So PLEASE...stay far far away from this vet clinic. We have had SO
many reports from people of the same kind of care it is just astonishing that they can get away with this.

This is not the post we were wanting to share this morning. Sadly last night we had to make the hard decision to let Petra go. She was not responding to the antibiotics and high flow O2. The first x ray we posted was from 12pm yesterday and they did another at 6pm which was already much worse. The vet added some additional meds and we weren't ready to give up. Around 10pm the vet called and said she was still not responding and her lab values were declining. They said she had ARDS and septic bacterial pneumonia from aspiration, most likely hospital acquired from where she was hospitalized at They said even if she was transferred again to another vet and put on a ventilator that she had less than a 30% chance of survival and that the Parvo had just completely wrecked her immune system. So we made the humane choice to not let this sweet girl suffer anymore. Please say a prayer for her and know that she was loved even if only for a very short time. RIP sweet girl ❤❤❤❤❤
