"United Colors"

Two stallions together for a photoshoot was so 2020 - let´s spice it up a notch and have three! Three very colorful boys, at their very best behavior, which made this shoot an absolute dream.

I haven´t been doing a very good job posting here on Facebook, but I will try to do better from now on! For those interested, you can see a lot more of my latest work on my instagram - .liepinaa

Here is a photo from last weekend´s adventure at this magical place. Tucked between mountains in south Iceland, a valley that looks like just out of a movie. It´s early morning, a complete silence besides the sound of river flowing - and the view is simply breathtaking! There is just something about being alone with the nature! Probably one of my favourite locations I have photographed at so far.

“VOLCANO” Pt. II

A little more about the ongoing eruption here in Iceland! 🙌
• As I have mentioned before the eruption started on 19th March. Before it occurred there were thousands of earthquakes in the area, most of them small, but the largest one was 5.7 on Richter scale and was easily felt in the city.
• It is an effusive eruption, meaning it emerged as an open fissure with lava flows. Very different from the infamous Eyjafjallajökull in 2010 with explosions of rock and ash.
• While the eruption is harmless to towns and villages close by (at least for now?) it has changed quite a lot since it started - a while ago several new fissures opened, changing the landscape dramatically.
• The lava fountains spouting from crater have reached over 300 meters in height and on good day the eruption can easily be seen from Reykjavik.
• It is fairly easy for people to visit the eruption site at the moment if you are in decent shape - hiking trail has been made recently. However, make sure you check weather conditions before heading out for the hike. The fumes coming from the eruption can be very dangerous, so wind direction is something one should take very seriously!
• No one knows for certain for how long the eruption could go on, its possible it could be ongoing for many years!

The photoshoot was done in collaboration with Horses of Iceland Safety of horses and humans were our priority and we kept a safe distance from the volcano!

“VOLCANO” pt. I

We did it! On 19th March a volcano eruption started in Reykjanes peninsula and since day one I had a tiny hope of having a horse photoshoot related to the eruption. A plan was set in motion, but due to ever changing conditions we experienced quite a few setbacks. In order to organize such complicated photoshoot we had to have so many things in mind - first and foremost of course the safety of both humans and horses, the accessibility to area, weather conditions and much more! Easier said than done! But yesterday, on 13th May everything came together and we finally made it! We started the day early, leaving the city before 6AM, next up we had a hike to the eruption area. The feeling when arriving at the location is impossible to describe in words! The mother nature is truly amazing - besides the spectacular views, what amazed me the most were the sounds coming off the volcano! One had to experience it to truly understand! Funnily enough, the horses could not be bothered the slightest about what was going on around them! Obviously we stayed a safe distance away from the volcano itself!

More photos will be published soon!
