The recent altercation between the owner of Spirit in the Sky, who is not a Chamber member, and the five students at Western Illinois University is appalling and shameful. We do not condone this abhorrent racist behavior and we can assure you this is not a reflection of the Macomb business community as a whole. We feel great sadness for what these students had to experience at a local business and welcome them, or any other student, to reach out to us at any time. We will continue to promote inclusivity for all in Macomb area businesses.

We will begin distributing posters this afternoon and they will be available for pick up tomorrow at our office.

Hi, I am Anakin. Mommy and Daddy adopted me on September 20, 2023, which would have been my great-grandma Jo's 90th birthday. I was one of the 13 Beagle-Dachshund puppies who were dumped on Mommy's 42nd birthday on August 19, 2023 at McDonough County Animal Shelter. Sadly, four of my littermates passed away from parvo, a deadly disease for puppies.

Mommy said I have a Shih Tzu angel brother named Sammie who is watching over me, which I believe a whole great deal. Don't worry, I am not a replacement for my angel brother, but rather another dog to love.
