Monbeg Monopoly!
Another Goresbridge Go For Gold Sale concluded this week with Monbeg Sport Horses dominating proceedings when realising the top price of the auction at €87,000 for Lot 22, Monbeg Condor, a bay 4 yr old by Condios. Following on their form with Lot 28, Private Monbeg, a bay 3 yr old by Bamako de Muze, topped the 3 yr section when the hammer went down at €60,000 and went on to sell all of their 6 consigned lots.
Lot 13, Borris Two Point Oh, a bay 4 yr old by Pointilliste, consigned by Jodie & Emma Skelton, also proved popular among purchasers, selling for €47,000.
Another notable price of €45,000 was secured for Higgins Sport Horses & Mary Bolgers, Lot 37 Kilcannon Stylus.
Overall, 30 lots commanded prices of €20,000 or more with the average price just over €23,000.
The Goresbridge Go For Gold Team would like to extend huge thanks to all vendors who consigned and entrusted their horses to us again this year.
We wish all those fortunate buyers the very best of luck with their purchases and look forward to following their successes in the future and we sympathise with all those who have to compete against them! 😉

❓ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐚 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 ❓

Why do we ask all of our members to volunteer, or to nominate someone to volunteer on their behalf? Because without our volunteers, we couldn’t run one single event. Not one.

Have you ever stopped to think about just how many volunteers are required for every single event? Here's a list of volunteers required on the day of the event:

🔸Call-ups – minimum of 3, one per phase
🔸Dressage Scribes – 1 per judge, average of 6 arenas
🔸Score collectors– at least 2 runners to collect from all dressage judges/SJ judges. 1 person on a quad/in a jeep to collect from the XC fence judges/start/finish throughout the day
🔸SJ arena team - 1 person per arena
🔸Fence Judges – depending on the number of fences, a minimum of one person per fence averaging between 20 and 30 per event
🔸XC start/finish – 2 people
🔸XC control – 1-2 people
🔸Commentator – 1-2 people
🔸Car park attendant – 2 people
🔸Stabling – 1 person
🔸Catering – to provide lunches/snacks/drinks for DR judges, officials and other volunteers, minimum of 2 people

That’s an absolute minimum of around 50 volunteers per event. And that’s not including the event officials: the event secretary, the stewards, the XC course builder/fence repair, the DR and SJ judges, the scorer, the ambulance and doctor, the vet, the farrier… it really does take a village!

And don’t forget the help before and after an event. Volunteers are working behind the scenes to put up and take down dressage arenas, dress and flag cross country fences, put up sponsor signage etc. Long before you turn up at an event and long after you’ve gone home, there is still work being done.

Often volunteers don’t come from the EI membership – they’re friends or family of the event organisers or from other organisations. Thank you to every one of our members who have volunteered throughout the season, and to those from outside of EI who step up for our event organisers.

Unfortunately due to high levels of rainfall over the last 12 hours, and with heavy rainfall forecast to continue throughout the day, the organisers have taken the difficult decision to cancel Clyda 3, which was to take place on Saturday 16th September.

As per Rule 3.10, if cancellation occurs within two days of the event (ie: after times are listed), a refund of entry fees less €15 administration charge (which goes to the organiser) will apply. Refunds will be made to the credit card from which they were made in the next few days.

There are to be no arrivals prior to 11:00(am) Tuesday Aug 23rd or beyond 19:00 any evening (without prior approval). There may be a fine per horse arriving outside of these hours, enforced by the OC & FEI Veterinary Team. This is owing to FEI veterinary regulations regarding the arrival of horses.

In just 4 days we will be swapping our G&Ts for Airags (fermented mares milk) and our pesto pasta for offal stew. We are aiming to complete this monster 1000km horse race with as few broken bones as possible. Even if we stay intact, the soft bits will be hurting by Day 7 and we are going to need some inspriation. Please send (PM, WhatsApp or otherwise) us any comments, jokes (smuttier the better) or messages and I'll print them off to read on Day 7. thank you muchly!!

Oh !! and we are less than £7,000 off our target (link below) - anyone fancy giving us an incentive if we finish or even better, get placed???

Did we mention our new training classes?! 😁

We're very excited to be able to offer these classes, which will enable riders to compete at affiliated events without their results being recorded. This is ideal for young horses, or riders wanting to try Eventing for the first time.

We'll keep our socials updated to let you know which events will be offering these classes, but you can of course check for yourself in the Events section of www.eventingireland.com

Redpender Equestrian

I am an experienced British International rider now based in Co Kilkenny and concentrating solely on producing young horses. I have ridden successfully at CI5*, as well as at numerous young horse finals and represented TeamGB at European Championships and Nations Cup level. We have always sourced, produced and sold Irish sport horses from 3yo's up in UK, but now concentrate the business to this effect from our base in the heart of the equestrian south east of Ireland. As we are a small private yard, we maintain the ethos of quality over quantity, each horse is treated very much as an individual and the aim is to utilise, to the best of our ability, our knowledge of all levels of eventing and young horse championships to produce horses for both the amateur and professional market alike.

Redpender also offer a livery service which can be tailored to the individual client. From resting thoroughbreds, sales production and competition livery, a package can be designed to suit all needs.

Currently undertaking the HSI coaching certificates, I also offer coaching and clinics to clients of all levels which can be on or off site, either to individuals or groups through riding or pony clubs.

Please contact me on 00353-87-403-6420 for any enquiries.
